  1. Thanks mate I will. Theyre in the yellow pages? Or do you have a number? Sweet I'll check it out. Does he also do audio/turbo timer installs? Cause I'd probably get them done at once. Last time: Is there anything more anyone can tell me about how I can track down a bunch of people that do interior work on cars? Like where I should look. I got no friggin clue.
  2. Do those guys do interiors? Or just exterior? Do you mean I should rip out my entire interior and put a whole new dash in? How much is that gonna cost me?? Like millions, right? I'm happy to do that, but pretty clueless on how to "shop around". Where would I look to find a bunch of places that sell/install seats and dashes etc? Thanks again guys!!
  3. Thanks heaps for the advice!!! I'll give most of them a call and see what they can do. Looks like it might be smartest to take it different places for the exterior, interior and alarm respectively. Heres what I got.... Exterior/Spray Shops DT Panels Micolour Alarms/Audio http://www.stylyn.com/ Interior ???????????
  4. PLEASE HELP ME SKYLINES AUSTRALIA! I throw myself at your mercy.
  5. Oh - I live in Melbourne, but anywhere I can get to in a couple of hours is cool.
  6. Good Afternoon Skylines Australia, My 1990 R32 GT-R has been getting a full engine rebuild, forged pistons and N1s at RE Customs for some time now and I have been totally happy with their service and results, and would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone. The problem is now my engine is all fixed up I want to have a good hard look at the interior and exterior - maybe get a paint job, new boot, some new seats, a new wheel etc. I am also looking to get a good alarm system installed. RE Customs only do engine work so I am looking for advice about what might be a few good workshops to look into. I looked through the workshops thread but couldn't really find much. If I can take my car to one shop and get all of the interior/exterior and alarm taken care of then that would be great - but any info on any workshops that do any of this is most appreciated. Thanks in advance to anybody who can point me in the right direction.
  7. check rockin'. thanks mate thanks man so a basic rebuild where they just take it apart, clean it and put it together again is ~$6k - but if i want all fancy parts put in I would be looking at ~$10k? Are garret 2860-7's more powerful than the stock RB26 GT-R turbos? also I'm thinking about an A'PEXI PowerFC. one of those (with installation) am I to understand is about $1.5k? I'd also probably have to get the car tuned for it right? which would be more again. god damn this shit is expensive.
  8. oh yeah i got another question a little off topic is there somewhere good i can read about how skylines/turbos/motors in general work and what all the bits mean - or do you just pick it up over time? im not stupid, and i am technically minded (ive done a degree in electrical engineering) but i dont have fcks clue about how a engine works and what all the bits are
  9. thanks for your help guys. though i must say it seems a bit dumb that with the forum rules if RE customs WERE rip-off merchants you couldn't tell me about it. this is what i gathered 1) it should cost about $1500 to take it out and figure out the problem - but about $5000 all up to fix it 2) R E Customs dont seem to be a shady operation. 3) might be worth getting the engine looked at while its out. but thats gonna cost more money. two more questions: if i do get it taken out - is there anything obvious (and reletivly cheap) I should get upgraded while it is taken out? new turbos are what $5k? is there anything else easy I can do to increase performance while leaving it street-legal? what the hell is tuning? and should i get it done? thanks again
  10. First let me say that I bloody love Skylines but I don't know much about engines. And now I'm borderline friggin suicidal. I recently bought a beautiful R32 GTS4 Skyline with a RB26 GT-R running gear. I was having heaps of fun with it until a fateful day last week when on the way to the beach all of a sudden the car started revving high without power transfer to the wheels. I pulled over and the car wouldn't start again, making a horrible clunking sound when I tried. I have finally got the car towed to a mechanic that deals with Skylines - R E Customs in Springvale. He tells me the engine is not holding any pressure, and will need to be taken out and completly taken apart to find the problem. He tells me one of these 'engine rebuilds' is likley to cost me between 5 and 20 grand!! Does anyone know if I can trust these R E Customs people? Are they the best person to go to for this sort of thing? How much should I expect to pay for getting the engine taken out and looked at? Why did this have to happen to me?
  11. then why are you posting on SKYLINES AUSTRALIA?
  12. How do WRXs and Skylines compare in this regard?
  13. I think it also might be a good idea to put the best of these comparison tables in the "New to Skyline scene" thread. A Skyline is ALWAYS going to be judged by its compeditors!
  14. thanks ill let you know what i get - I wanna spend 15-20k, I am thinking either Skyline ECR33 GTS25T - or a WRX. I understand Skyline is cooler, but the fact WRX is 4WD turns me on, and I can't afford a GTR, unless its like 18 years old in which case I would either die from smashing myself into a tree with no airbag or from sadness when it breaks down because its 18 years old. thanks again
  15. fcking hell you guys rock I checked out all of those pages, though and none of them had the WRX - I understood that the WRX was the benchmark (being the most common) for Japanese imports?
