Best option - get an R32 and throw in the RB25.........

Removed the radiator and sorted out my cooling issue on the weekend! It was a partly blocked radiator - containing calcium flakes which kinda look like rust flakes. Reverse flushed the radiator and in the end after I machined up an adapter to put the garden hose and the air compressor on the bottom hose, extracted some 2 or 3 table spoons of calcium build up. On initial removal, ran the garden hose through the radiator and the flow was pretty slow compared to after the flush out. Also completely flushed the engine using my hose and compressed air tool and found more within the engine. Also the thermostat in the car was a 65 degree one instead of the 76.5 factory nissan one. So now the car has a flushed system, with some tectalloy flush solution and water (until the weekend when I will reverse flush it again), a new genuine nissan thermostat and a new trust 1.3 bar radiator cap! Temps on the street today with a 28 degree ambient temp was 80-81 with the aircon on!!!!!!! Previously last week under same ambient conditions I was seeing 95-97 degrees.......... Calcium flakes due to previous owner mixing coolants - a lesson to be learnt for everyone on this one!

Love to however I must unfortunately decline the offer - I will be pre-disposed in the USA..........:-)

Yeah - confirmed that the r34 RB26 runs N1 oil+water pumps, running the standard clutch fan and shroud is on. I have had some advice that it is probably the thermostat so I will be replacing it this weekend and see how it goes (fingers crossed!) The next track day the GSR EVO club is running is in March - if you guys want to register your interest with me I will pass on some initial numbers and get some spots reserved.

Thanks guys - I'll start with a thermostat change and go from there. The temp on the street today with ambient temps around 25deg was 89-90 without a/c! Gotta be something wrong with the thermostat I reckon. How do the GTR water temps go on the track normally? Maybe we could post up our experiences with water temps at the track vs ambient air temp on the day, cooling system mods, and power the car is producing? Then we could all easily have a benchmark to check against and beable to tell if the cooling system is doing its job properly?? Use this as a template if you like Car: Power: Cooling system mods: Water temp on street: Water Temp on track (incl ambient temp):

Guys, Took my GTR out to Mallala on the weekend and found that after a couple of hard laps the water temp was sky rocketing up to a maximum of 119 degrees!!! Having trouble understanding why it has gone so high with the cooling hardware I am running: R34 RB26 Apexi big aluminium radiator Nismo uprated radiator cap standard viscous fan / shroud Carbon full length UAS air guide The car had no pinging at all (max 34 knock value on the d-jetro pwr fc), the oil temp thanks to ARC coolers went no higher than 80 degrees, and there are no leaks etc in the cooling system. I found under full noise the temp was increasing 1 degree every 10 or so seconds - and once I backed off to drive around and cool it down it took ages to get down to under 100 degrees. This temp is verified by 3 seperate sources so I believe I can discount gauge error (pwr fc / dash temp gauge and defi water temp gauge all within +-3 degrees) I thought for one that the R34 runs a N1 pump on it, and the car behaves normally on the road with normal operating temp being 89 - 90 degrees although I believe this to be a bit high. Do these symptoms sound normal for GTR's on the track with similar mods/ hp to mine, or do I have an issue somewhere else. Looking for guidance as to fixing this from those with experience on the track with GTR's please, although come to think of it any help greatly appreciated!!!!! Blue32

Thanks for the kind words peoples! The car doesn't have any fancy torque split controller - and the ATS 1.5 way mech rear diff meant it was sliding around a lot! Ash - I was under the impression the R34 RB26 I have already has the N1 oil and water pumps??? Plus the temps I saw were quite a bit higher than 100deg - try 115deg plus by the 1 and a half lap mark hence the back off. Highest it got was 120 degrees...........Strange though it took ages to cool down again - like 4 or 5 laps and a drive out the front gate and back to see back around 100degrees........?? Something weird going on there! With the oil temp the car runs ARC oil coolers and I don't expect to see much more than 80 - 90 degrees oil temp during a session. But I tell you what - it would be awesome to have a plethora of Skylines going at it around the track - the sound of the RB Symphony would be outstanding!!! Why not give it your all in a LEGAL environment with not a worry about defects and for less than the cost of doing on the street and being caught.........

$100 for entry (I already have cams licence) and no, the couldn't catch me when I was doing my hot laps - which unfortunantely was only 1 or 2 laps a session as I had cooling issues - after a hot lap the water temp was skyrocketing to 100+ degrees! Got a prob with the thermostat and radiator cap or something blocking the radiator. It shouldn't be getting that hot so quick - esp. since I have an big apexi radiator in it! The oil temp was staying around 80 degrees (engine and g/box cooler fitted) and it wasn't pinging at all (highest I saw on the PFC was 34 on the knock, plus I run a cocktail of Boost 98 and tolulene).Ah well - one hot lap per hour netted me a 1:22 on street rubber - with the car skateing all over the track! Through the doglegged back straight I was getting up to 215km/h and the car just 4 wheel drifts from the apex to the outside of the track........a few 'moments' were had let me tell you. Still the incar footage is cool!

The Mitsubishi GSR EVO club hosted a track day today at Mallala and I thought it would be good for the us to get in on the next one with them. The day was run really well and I got plenty of track time. Next track day they run I'll post up the details and see if anyone is keen to take it to the EVO's.........Anyone got their times for Mallala?

Had a VL Calais turbo with 360rwkw with a stage 3 shift kitted auto / 3 grand stall converter and trans brake - just outstanding to drive and ran a 10:39 at the drags..........much faster than an equivalent powered manual!
-
DNA test the bastards!
-
The come and try day isn't timed though - so no tag required. Its written in the regs on the scc website.
-
Try this: http://www.sportingcarclubsa.org.au/Default.aspx?tabid=54 I'll be overhead around 3:30pm.....
-
I believe it is $30 to enter + cams licence on the day.

Been using Boost98 for 8 months in a 340awkw GTR, which is also my daily. As Sydney Kid pointed out - there have been no issues, the car made more power at the same boost (with retune on D-jetro), the fuel economy has improved (380-400kms/tank) and its cheaper!! I rate Boost98 very highly and recommend you give it a crack - get your car tuned on it and see how it goes. From what this thread has outlined - what have you got to lose?!

Track day @ Mallala, Drags @ Adelaide International (once the R38GTR is released and AIR reopens...........lol)

Pretty keen to come down and see everyone again - and perhaps put the R on the dyno, however I won't know whether I can make it or not until the day. Work has me on standby so pretty unpredictable right now. Alright to pay on the day? -
Happy to take you for a spin in my 32gtr - 310kw at the wheels with only minor upgrades
-
Got one for sale - $40 bucks and its yours. It has the rubber intercooler hose on it and the gasket in good condition. PM me if you're interested

How do you make 50 rear wheel kws in a civic? Drive it backwards LOL!
