Whos Auto Gets Stuck In 1st?
shoebox replied to SECURITY's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Wow seriously? Did you see what went wrong? How about the 2nd, 3rd gears? If i can get the gear to shift only when i release the gas, i can start thinking of fitting a PFC on my car! Clutch-less automatic system! -
No offense, but I totally agree on this. There're tons of young drivers here on the road who do crazy stunts like tailgate at 140km/h, drift all over the place with heavy traffic and hang their heads out of the car screaming in the middle of the highway and thinking they're cool. I highly doubt that the passengers are screaming out of fear for their lives, but you'll never know.. IMHO, the government needs to do something about the mentality of the drivers here and not just put them off turbocharged cars. This new law doesn't do much, and those punks are still as irritating as hell, turbo car or not, and i just happen to be one of those drivers who love to slam my brakes if someone tailgates me when i drive fast (new parts, body kit, exhaust, lights, all for free... you get what i mean?)

Intercooler Pressure Drops & Stock Turbo (r33 Gts-t)
shoebox replied to Noel's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
PSI aside, does anyone know the power rating for the R33 stock intercooler? The R34's about 200rwkw, and i heard that the R33's is about 160.. is this true? Engine detonations aren't exactly the most fun things to experience ^_^" -
Yea, Mercury Motorsports just did it for me. I'll be putting the before and after dyno results up and probably some other information in case someone's thinking of doing this too.
-
I'm looking for an SITC to fit onto my auto R33. Anyone has one which is in excellent, working condition (with an instruction manual if possible)? I'm located in Brisbane.
-
Yea but i don't think i'll be going the forged internals... a bit too expensive Hmm.. back to the original question.. has anyone done it before? Is it as simple as fitting in a RB25DET from an R33?
-
Yea, it's 改 (kai). Basically, it means "change" or "reform". Note that there's no "-ed" in japanese, so it could jolly well by "changed" or "reformed" too.
-
Yea.. my budget doesn't stretch that far, or i'll be doing the GTR conversion already! I thought of getting an RB30/25 hybrid conversion too, but RB30 engines are pretty old at this point in time, and i'm kinda concerned about reliability. I agree about the performance difference though, but i rather have a newer engine than save that bit of money and end up with an exact same old configuration as before.
-
The cost difference is about 1.5 to 2k, but the real reason why i'm thinking of doing it is to have the power of an R34 in an R33... especially after my R33 engine needs replacement. As far as i can see, they're both the same engines with the same wiring diagram, except that the RB25DET NEO has a NEO head, and power difference is about 22kw.
-
Has anyone tried putting a RB25DET engine from an R34 GT-T into an R33 GTS-T Series 2? What do you think about it, and is it simple? What's needed to be done in such a conversion? Can I continue to use the R33's ECU or must I replace it with an ECU from an R34? The reason why I need to do this is because my current engine is in need of a rebuild or a replacement... *sigh* Tried searching the forums to no avail... apparently no one has done it before, or it's too insignificant to be mentioned (?) Thanks in advance!
-
it's at the workshop already.. it's not really a metalic sound. It's like something rubber/non-metallic hitting against something else everytime the engine goes "putt"? When the engine goes off, it's off, and it's not a rattling sound... At first, i thought it's the timing belt but apparently it's not; but they don't have the time to check it today, so it's gonna wait 'til monday. It increases in frequency with the RPM. Most of the time, it's not audible if it's just idling.
-
I've just bought an R33 GTS-T like 3 weeks ago, and after changing the castor bushes, spark plugs and tappet cover gaskets, a knocking sound can heard from my engine about less than 48 hours later... it's quite loud, and it's audible sometimes when it's idling, or when i rev to like 3000 or 4000rpm. The mechanics at Mercury Motorsport told me that I might be looking at an engine swap or a rebuild... and they'll get back to me on monday... The thing is, a compression test 3 weeks ago showed no problems! Anyone has any experience in stuff like these? Could the sound be due to the servicing, something loose, or do I really need to blow tons of money on an engine swap or rebuild? How much would that cost anyway? I haven't even done anything to it yet! *sighhh* Oh. Quick question. If I do really need a new engine (which i hope i don't!), will it be legal if i get an R34 engine and put it in?
-
It's a carpark sticker. It's pronounced as "hokanbasho hyoushou", and it's basically a pass for a car park with surveillance. There's "police" there as well... so I would expect your car was in pretty good hands ^_^

Skyline R33 Series 2, Any Good?
shoebox replied to alphabeatsco's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yea, that's what i did. It's not a matter of stop-starts too; i lost on running starts when both our cars are at about 40! -
maybe... or it could be this: Remap Stock ECU with "Nissan Edit" topic Mercury Motorsports advertising ECU tuning It's running really rich now, so i'll probably be keeping to the speed limit until they come up with a way to tune the R33 GTS-T's ECU, or when i give up waiting and just get an AFC or just accept their proposal of taking an R32's ECU.

i think so too... but it's an auto, and it's a straight road! i'm not some p plater too! Maxima Specifications here R33 Specifications here Apparently, the maxima can go from 0-100 in 6.8s stock, which puts it on par with a stock R33 GTS-T! Not to mention, a higher top speed... -
Yup, i was thinking of doing that! The mechanic recommended fitting a tuned R32 ECU rather than to put an AFC and an ITC though... i'm going to wait and see how much it would cost first. Sidetracking a bit... but would a tuned stock ECU (which fixes the richness + removes speed limit) be better, or an AFC Neo + SITC + speed limit remover be better?
-
Yup, mine was at Mercury today, and it's an auto. I was thinking that could be the case too... stock manuals go 250hp at the flywheel and autos are only at 245hp. Next step is to tune the ecu, fit boost controller and replace intercooler...
-
I'm willing to wait if the price is good. I'm currently waiting for my mechanic to get back to me on the price of one, so i'll decide on the price by then. How much are you willing to sell it for? From past sales in the forums, they don't look like they go for quite a lot...

Skyline R33 Series 2, Any Good?
shoebox replied to alphabeatsco's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
It's a coupe. To add on, there were two people in my car, and three in his. Don't ever underestimate the nissan 2006 maxima... it's on a whole new level than the older maximas. -
Okay my car's back! Kinda dissapointing because i think my car's running too rich at the moment. Gotta tune it... Dyno results: Before the exhaust, it was this: Here's the photo of the muffler taken by my handphone. It's not a very impressive photo, but to give you an estimate of its size, my motorola v3x (which is 99mm according to motorola) can fit in nicely if i try to put in using the wider side with about 1mm allowance on both sides. Contrary to how it looks, the muffler seems like stainless steel (at least to me). It's the x-force cannon muffler. It's the x-force mild steel turbo back exhaust system with 3.5" cat back. The sound's only average when you're stuck in the peak hour traffic in the city (imagine going up to 4krpm for 20 minutes where you're at 1-2krpm most of the time), but once you hit the highway you're in heaven ^_^ Oh well. It's cheap. I would have went CES or something if i had the cash but... this is good enough Cost: $954.55 fitted at Mercury Motorsports (Brisbane) Edit: Put photo of muffler up.

I'm looking to buy an R34 GT-T stock intercooler to fit on my R33 GTS-T. Needless to say, it must not be damaged. Anyone got one for sale? EDIT: Bought one already.

It's probably a move by toyota to change priorities in their R&D. A few years ago, they started off by throwing tons of cash into TRD and F1; nascar is probably the next area they're looking at.

Skyline R33 Series 2, Any Good?
shoebox replied to alphabeatsco's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
that's what i thought too! both our cars are auto. the maxima's a 3.5 litre car running the infamous VQ35DE V6 engine pushing 198kw at the flywheel even when stock (which is more than the stock R33 GTS-T). I just put my car on a dyno, and it's peak power is 132kw at the rear wheels. and yes, it's still ahead and pulling away after i've hit my speed limit set by my ecu (a bit after the needle went over 180). -

My stock R33 GTS-T got owned by my friend's 2006 edition Maxima while we were competing on both running starts and traffic lights. The only things he did on his maxima was his muffler, suspensions.and an aftermarket ECU. i don't know whether to laugh or cry ^_^"
