well yesterday i was doing an oil change and when i removed the filter i spilt alot of oil so i attacked it with degreaser. how ever i hadnt put the sump bolt back in and it was all dripping down underneath. well as i was putting the bolt in i felt something drip on my face and run into my ear. at first i didnt do anything about it although i did realise it was a mixture of oil and degreaser. about 10 minutes later after filling the motor up and going inside to give my ear a clean and a flush out i was in the most excruciating pain i have ever experianced. i rush my self to the doctor told them what happened. i was lucky to not have had the degreaser eat away at the inside of my ear, i was in pain for about 3 hours now i am feeling semi deaf and have swollen ear drum and canal. and it was the most expesive oil change i have done. doctors are cheap after hours... so try avoid getting oil and degreaser in the ear. dan

perhaps a different pin hieght is used

i think that it should just be part of it all being installed neatly. when i had mine done it was put away all neat and i just had my hand controller left on my seat for me to mount. which i was more then happy with. dont blame you for not wanting to use them again. specially after the front bumper incident as well dan

hey all does any one now where either of these can be done in perth at all??? dan

i had a nismo one until i got it tuned with my PFC. was told the temp was fluctuating to much so it was replaced with a standard issue.

what pistons are they and price if you dont mind

thanks dirtgarage, that is what i thought. and obviously if there is excessive wear to the bore it will need to be bored to over size.
-
hey all i am wanting to freshen up an rb 30 block. with bearings and rings. i am not sure if it is ok to just put the new rings in without doing anything to the bore itself. i dont want to have to buy new over size pistons. will the rings seal properly if i just put them straight in. thanks dan

hey all i have just been researching oil restiction for this build. i have taken the following info from the major thread. info was provided by gary (sydney kid) and can be found on page 153. here it is again. hope this helps some ppl RB26 cylinder head= 2 oil feed galleries between the block and the head We block one off, same as RB26's are standard We use a 1.5 mm restrictor in the other Plenty of oil flow to the camshaft bearings, not too much oil slopping around in the head, getting chucked into the catch can and leaving the sump in short supply. RB25 with VVT= 2 oil feed galleries between the block and the head Plus 1 feed to the VVT actuator We block one off, same as RB26's are standard We use a 1.5 mm restrictor in the other Plus leave the VVT oil feed as per standard Plenty of oil flow to the camshaft bearings and VVT actuator but not too much oil slopping around in the head, getting chucked into the catch can and leaving the sump in short supply. RB25 without VVT= 2 oil feed galleries between the block and the head Plus 1 feed to the VVT actuator We block one off, same as RB26's are standard We use a 2.0 mm restrictor in the other Plus block off the VVT oil feed and a couple of diagrams http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...st&id=26521 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...st&id=26522 the only question i still have that i have not been able to find an answer to is, does it matter which gallery you restrict and which you block off?? dan

its mentioned alot in the major sticky. thats why i was/am concerned. but i looked at the pdf and did some quick measurements and will have a spot for the tensioner so have started to pull her apart. now awaiting available 26 head.
-
thats why i am in some doubt. it has two out of the three holes and yes its missing the oil drain hole. however above the water pump it does have the flat section to bolt the tensioner to that a series 1 does not. that is the part i am more concerned about. drilling and tapping the oil drain hole isnt so much of an issue. its having the area for the tensioner to sit on that i am more concerned about

any one else got an opinion on the engine SK you around by any chance

hey all just bought my rb30e on the weekend and am almost certain its a series two block however there are a few little things that are warrying me. i have attached some photos so those in the now can hopefully put my mind at ease.. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a272/danp_87/side1.jpg as you can see in this photo it has 2 of the 3 holes you would think it should have http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a272/danp_87/front.gif and in this photo it appears to have the flat area above the water pump for the second tensioner location. i havent pulled too much of it yet cos if it is the wrong motor it can go back in the quokka next week. also on a totally unrelted thing. the 26 head has the same stud pattern as the 30 block just a thicker stud yeh?? thanks for all the help dan

what is considered too high of a comp ratio in a turbo motor
-
+1 for wet skid pan day
-
what is considered to high in a turbo. as some one said you can get 10:1 with rb25de piston. mention a couple times in the first 50 pages and again in between page 100-110 of the rb30 thread

would prefer to just stay with det head as thats what i have atm. any other opinion on what happens when you just bolt a det head on. what will or wont work
-
hey all, im up to page 65 of this thread and plan to read the hole thing. but just a few quick questions. what happens if you just bolt the 25det head straight on?? what will or wont work i dont want the vct as will be using hks cams and gears. just a few part number quieries. the JUN crank collar is it 1013M-N001 and the tomie oil restrictors how many does you nead and is it part number 191071 got these numbers from nengun are nismo injectors side or top feed doesnt say on nengun. thanks dan
