  1. Sorry, can you confirm if your honing was done with a torque plate? Thanks Justin
  2. Ahhhh the conveniences of shopping online hehe. Bet you will be relieved when this one is over.
  3. Why Supercheap of course!
  4. Yep it's got the Motronic ECU, distributor is on the end of the cam at the front. Good to hear you got one running with the Haltech, another possible option. I am actually now thinking a full replacement ECU might be overkill for his requirements. I came across this kit: http://millerperformancecars.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=65&category_id=45&vmcchk=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=30 might even give that a try, a cheap and dirty solution to get more fuel into Anyway thanks for the info everyone. Back to Skylines now!
  5. I'm not really sure what it will do! 220rwkw would be nice as it's a light little car. Thanks for the info
  6. I am hoping someone knowledgable with installing various engine management systems into cars other that skylines can offer some advice... Yes I know it's not a Skyline!!! My dad has just bought a E30 BMW as a project car with the 2L straight six in it, he is going to turn it in to a track car. We are going to probably get a gt3071r turbo for it with a 0.64 rear on it, with a cheap Chinese exhaust manifold to suit. Question is, what would be a decent but reasonably priced engine management solution to suit such a car with that turbo and supporting bits and pieces? Another thing, I had a look at it tonight and it's got a distributor... How difficult would it be to hook a CAS from say a skyline up to it and then (with an engine management system) try and convert it to individual coil on plug ignition? Thank you..
  7. I want to hear it take some video of it when you get it on the dyno and stick it on YouTube!
  8. This sounds like a good idea.
  9. Hahaha.... But seriously you want revs and you don't care about power or response... Buy a Honda with vtec yo, or for even more fun, go an give yourself a tax audit.
  10. I have one sitting on my workbench, it's definitely nylon or some kind of plastic. It blades certainly feel like plastic, they are even a bit bendy! And due the thinness of the leading edge of the blades you can actually see tiny indents in the plastic itself.
  11. I would have thought it would have been more likely that the poncams would have been responsible for bringing the power curve down the rev range? Regardless sounds like I need to find myself a "big can" actuator.... Shiiit. Anyone know where I can get one cheap? and anyone want to buy a Garret 14psi one?
  12. Hahaha WTF! I wonder how the hell that happened. Has the engine been out or has the car been in a front end accident?
  13. I will check the numbers when I get home, but it looks the same from memory Damnit, I had the choice to get the 18psi one when I bought the kit I thought it would be better to get the lower one so I could use the EBC to have low boost option too. I dont know how much boost it will be running when the tuner gets it, but I would like to run as much as is efficient with the water methanol etc. I want to make good use of the forged bottom end
  14. Mick, are you still running the small can actuator with your setup? Mine is the same I believe on my GTX3071R - 14psi. I am hoping to run as much boost as I can through it when its built as it will have a WMI kit, type B Poncams etc. I wonder if I should change to an 18psi actuator...
  15. I would be very happy if that happens, that what I am hoping for with mine when I get it all finished.
  16. The anticipation is killing me! I wanna know what this turbo is going to do!!!
  17. You can get your pistons customised to your requirements. I got some 9:1 CP forged pistons made for my Neo build.
  18. I don't suppose by any chance if RB26 valve springs would fit in an RB25DET Neo (solid lifters) head???
  19. Hey Phil - have you fitted your yet? If so did you document the install with pictures by any chance? I might try and fit mine in the next couple of weeks, would be great to find out about any of the pitfalls first

  21. Thanks to everyone for the replies. Will paint it black
  22. I know that!!! I just want a quick answer from an experienced engine builder, then I want this topic to disappear
  23. This is a stupid question, but here it goes: Do people still paint the outside of their blocks with engine enamel when they get them back from the machinist after it has been acid dipped and stuff? My dad will be helping me to rebuild my engine (he has built a lot of them, although no RB's) and is saying that i need to paint it to stop it oxidizing and looking like crap after I clean it and put it all back together, but I like the look of bare cast iron If so what colour do people mostly use? ..... Thanks
