  1. Re-run the 30 minute idle learning procedure - this should fix it.
  2. Thanks for that. I actually ended up buying 5L of Motul 8100 5W40 100% synth instead. Will do the oil change today
  3. Yep you probably have seen me around Vic Park - it's a silver 4 door R34
  4. As I said I was only on about 25% throttle, and I monitored the knock reading constantly. A couple of times I did push it a bit too far which was silly. Now that I have decreased the boost a bit I think it now is running better than ever so the base tune can not be that bad in this case any way. Anyway I just can't wait to get it tunes, but have not been able to yet as I have had to do several other things to the car first.
  5. I put my PFC in a few weeks ago, and I am due to get it tuned in the next week or so. I was trying to really drive it like a granny because the knock reading was really bad (hope I haven't damamged the engine!). Even though I was trying to use less than 25% throttle and even less up hills and on hot days, I hit 203 once! And 120-130 a couple of other times. Never really heard any pinging though. Anyway I just turned down the boost to 7psi and it is now drivable again with reasonable knock levels (stays under 25 mostly). Can't wait to get it tuned though so I can crank the boost up again, it feels so slow now.
  6. Well you could certainly could, but you would not want to. Why spend all that money on the aftermarket management and not get it tuned to run at it's optimum level. Plus you could do damage to the motor if it is not tuned correctly. I had to turn my boost right down to stop the engine from pinging badly when I put in my PFC.
  7. I have had my PFC installed for a couple of weeks now and I'm just about to get it tuned. I have narrowed my choices down to Top Racing (as it is near where I live, and I figure its a smaller place where I might get more personalised service and attention towards my car and needs), or X-Speed (big place, maybe better facilities, more professional, but less personalised??). What do people think I should get it tuned?
  8. Cool... So those with knowledge of WA tuners - should I go with Top Racing in Carlisle, or X-Speed???
  9. So I guess I shouldn't need to worry about getting an adjustable fuel reg... It's just that I have already been seeing the injectors at 100% duty cycle on the PFC hand controller. Maybe this is just because it has not been properly tuned yet to make the most of the fuel being squited into the engine?
  10. Well I have had the PFC in for a couple of weeks now and am about to decide on where to get it tuned (I'm in WA). I have narrowed down the tuner to either Top Racing (it's close to where I live and it's a small tuning place which I guess might mean I will get a more personalised service from?) or X-Speed (which is a big tuning place that might have better facilities, but might be be a more get you in and get you out experience?). What do people think I should go for? Also I am only aiming for around 200rwkw at the moment (I have turbo back exhaust, EBC which will be running 11psi etc...) - obvioulsy my injectors are getting to 100% duty cycle and I should not need much more at around that power level, but would it be wise to upgrade my fuel pump or get an adjustable fuel regulator before the tune for safety? Would the adjustable fuel regulator allow me to squeeze a tiny bit more performance out of this setup? I don't care about the cost of the items but would it cost much to get either of these installed by a mechanic, ie is it a major job? Any help is GREATLY appreciated
  11. Thanks for that. I think it is so stupid they sell the 300V oil in 4L containers. I know it's probably to make you buy 2 but it's probably just going to make me choose something else instead. Are you sure you can buy 1L bottles of 300V as well?
  12. Crap - double post
  13. I am about to do my first oil change and I thought I would just spend the money (car is about to spend a session on the dyno getting tuned) and get some Motul 300V. Trouble is it only comes in a 4L bottle - is this enough to do a full oil change in an RB25DET Neo? How much oil do they take? Also I will need a new filter, are the generic Ryco etc. good enough to use? Do Repco and similar stores stock the suitable oil filters for RB25DET's? Any help is greatly appreciated as I am hoping to pick up the bits tommorrow!
  14. I have an R34 (4 door) and use the BOS Importing one. The same one fits the 2 door GTT as well.
  15. Thanks guys - all your help is much appreciated. The only other thing is I'm planning to run the MAP sensor cable though the drivers side hole inside the wheel arch, then across inside the car to the PFC. The only thing is I think its going to be 30cm's short by the look of it Has any one else managed to fit it through that hole and have it long enough? I would rather not go through the main loom hole on the passenger side of the firewall as it is located under the ABS unit and is almost impossible to get at I might have to cut the cable and extend it a bit...
  16. Cool, I will give it a go this weekend. I should have a better than 50% change of getting it right 1st time as the solenoid has red (positive) and black wires, and the solenoid has brown (positive I think) and blue wires... Can't wait to get the boost kit installed, then I can take the car to get the PFC tuned! No more nanny driving worrying about the thing detonating
  17. Thanks guys! That will make life much easier. The only thing is the plug on the new solenoid doesn't fit the old plug, you think they would try and make this the same as the kit is model specific. Then again sourcing Nissan specific socket types for each model would be a real pain. Anyhow I will just cut it off and wire it up - just to confirm, with a solenoid it should not matter which way the two wires are connected should it? Thanks
  18. I have the BOS Importing one. I think the design is very good. The construction (ie some of the welding / finishing) of it leaves a bit to be desired though, but nothing that would affect performance adversely.
  19. Are the stock R34 GTT turbo's of the ball bearing type?
  20. I just received the above item. I was just wondering, where the hell is the new solenoid wired into? (Bloody Japanese manuals!). I was hoping it would all connect into the extra port on the Power FC so I didn't have to start hacking the ECU wiring up, but it seems only the MAP sensor goes into this port? Is this correct? And if that is correct, I assume I will have to wire the new solenoid into the ECU loom, into the same pins as used by the factory solenoid? I guess if thats the case I could just cut the wires near the factory solenoid and wire directly up to the new Apexi solenoid which will save me getting the new Apexi solenoid wiring thought the firewall. I will just have to work out the polarity (although this should not matter on a solenoid anyway should it?) Any help greatly appreciated!
  21. Thats what I was thinking, but didn't want to say it
  22. The FMIC is not really going to make much difference at that boost / power level, the factory R34 SMIC's are pretty good. And the pod filter will bugger all to over a decent panel filter in the factory air box.
  23. I will be getting mine tuned in a couple of weeks. Has a Power FC, split dump / front pipe, metal high flow cat, 3" cat back, pod filter and CAI, and is running about 11psi. I am hoping for around 200rwkw but it is largly up to the dyno it is on too.
