  1. Results are out! good to see so many Nissans and 1 black gorilla out of the 42 cars http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results..../2010.WAKE.S3.Y
  2. This sounds like an awesome idea! any chance you could take a couple of snaps and upload - what i imagine things to be are never what they are! Cheers Steve
  3. There are clearly savings compared to a track such as wakefield. I know i would save about $100-200 in transport costs to get a car out to goulburn. My advantage would be that i could drive it staight to EC. Although my concern would be the amount of track time - a 4 hour window would probably see maybe 3 sessions if the sun doesnt go down to quick? or do you race with lights on? Paully was saying it is mad to see the car blow flames
  4. Hahah Just like Phil Collins, in the cadbury ad with the Black Gorilla !!!! LOL
  5. This event is for the full circuit at Eastern Creek, between 5pm-9pm. In either case I will always email you to confirm your spot for the event. Please note no passengers are allowed at Eastern Creek. If you have any questions please email jayne 'at' circuitclub.com.au Hope to see you there! _________________ Email: [email protected] Will try really hard to be out there for this has anyone been to one of these? would you rate it? Cheers Steve
  6. Hi there, i am very interested in the servicing aspect? can your repair bent fins? there is definately a whole heap of bugs and track gunge over the cooler! anyway just a quick update - time got the better of my plans to go back to the standard intercooler and i convinced myself that surely the greddy unit would do a heaps better job then the standard unit. i then got some tips off a drifter, where he suggested some polystyrene to help guide the air through from the FMIC through the A/C and hopefuly through the radiator. This wasnt very sucessful as it was to fidley for my impatient hands. Does anyone have any ideas of helping air flow in this area - im thinking sheet meatal? looking then at bonnets with vents was the next thing - before i invested in this, i was looking at a HPI mag and noticed a jap 34 had its bonnet lifted with some washers. only mod i did was lifted up the bonnet slightly and realised that the max track temps got to was 100 degrees and oil 115, and this was after 5-6 laps. Cooling was great as after 1-2 laps it went back down to 90/105 i believe there is definately some air flow issues as Beer Baron stated and i am seriously contemplating removing the A/C and fitting a vented bonnet of some sort. thanks for the tips guys keep them coming! Cheers Steve
  7. Hey Patrick! Good to see you made it home okay and thanks for the kind words cheers! i was absolutely buggered when i got home - i think i got heat stoke - greened out and went to bed with a massive headache all in all awesome day - preyed that no rain would come - should of preyed for the heat to be nice as well. It was really hard knowing that you were left there with no other option but to tow your car back for $500 and being oz day nothing to tow too. As hard as it was to see my new set of re55s be driven for 200kms back to the workshop - take it as a lesson!!! Dont treat your skyline like a bitch!! LOL trying to attend a dozen trackdays without servicing and TLC is a recipe for disaster ahahah anyway Matt from F&E should definately deserve a plug - not only for opening the doors for you but for coming out and working on both my car and Nigels! My car felt like Jelly and would not turn in the afternoon sessions and was loosing valuable secs ( but i guess his experience from working on the superlap winning Tilton Evo made sure that i ran a pb when everyone was losing time in the afternoon i just want to get out there again now when track temps are cooler i think i saw your sweet looking GTR out there rickyR33 (with the XD9s?). the question with respect to street slicks is very difficult to answer as there are so many variables - power that your car produces, suspension setup, logevity you want, are you chasing lap times? i have been told that a good rule of thumb is about 2 secs from Street Slicks vs Semi Slicks Cheers Steve ps Awesome day, skylines definately turned up to represent!!
  8. 4 Will be good to catch up with you cheif! will load the trailer tomoz the less ppl = the more track time, both fingers crossed for good weather!
  9. Hi mate, whats your opinion on this turbo for track work? i was thinking of something along this line - but some ppl reckon its too laggy? bump for good price anyway!!
  10. i think this is great pin point answers that others getting to the track will need to consider on top of all the tire and susp settings as well top stuff! Cheers steve
  11. Hi, as title states Cheers Steve
  12. I will definately go standard at the next meet on oz day. For some reason im thinking the david craig fans are not complementing the setup. Car makes 600hp Radiator is a Greddy unit FMIC is a Greddy unit Oil Cooler is HKS a suggestion of ducting to guide air through the raiditor will be experimented after we rule out that the h2o over heating isnt from the aftermarket radiator will keep everybody informed and thanks for the input
  13. I have the thermo fans in the engine bay because i could not mount them b/w the fmic and the radiator. Naturally the air flow will be against the norm when driving - so i reversed the direction so it travels with. I am also running water wetter. Its begining to worry me now how do you check whether a radiator is blocked? of ineffecient? it was a second hand unit. I might go back to the standard setup and check what is happening. Would it be bad to operate at 105/120 degrees? when will i start to cook the motor?
  14. Beaut! Name and car to look out for?
  15. Im not too sure about what you have just said but i think it has something to do with the operating temps of diifferent oils? Any way, striker ! i think you have hit the nail on the head! i put in a greddy alumin radiator in which i believe could be the problem - i have put david craig thermo fans on it x 2 but in my personal opinion - i dont think is doing much because it has no shroud (it is running opposite fan direction). Should i run the standard fan and shroud as well? Cheers Steve
  16. Sorry these readings are off Defi sensors and gauages BF series
  17. Just got confirmation that Adam and a couple of the boys from JEM will be attending this day
  18. Motor is built with pistons and rods, Oil cooler present, Running Royal Purple not sure which one (but was a special order and about $180 and runs at lower temps? is there any truth to this?) AFR are at 11:1 throughout the whole rev range. I have notice that it gets to 110 pretty easy, but once you are on your hot laps, it gets to about 120. Water temp at this moment is at 105 degrees as well. I have been told if it was to get above 115 to ease up on it - i dont see how this is possible - temps stay at 120 when i did 3-4 continuous laps - would this be dangerous? i have noticed the quicker you go the hotter the temps? i had no problems when i was about 5 seconds off the pace Are there any ways of keeping the temps down? i have removed the left blinker light to get direct air flow onto the cooler - would there be any benefits in removing the thermostat that controls the oil cooler? Would the heat from the brakes affect the oil temp if there is no inner mud guards? i believe the production cars can run all day in the mid 130's when they are racing? Cheers Steve
  19. Might be like a Noobie question - and im not sure whether i have posted in the right section. But i am getting different responses from different people. What would be considered safe temps - when will i be pushing the limits of the motor? Cheers Steve
  20. It will be my brother in laws first time at the track as well he is also from the hills, so you are not alone! You will be basically put in the slowest group for the day. (make sure you get there early to listen in on the drivers brief to learn about the rules) I have just finished putting his gtr together - hoping for 300awkw - cant wait to see him pilot this for the first time
  21. im pretty much after advice from those who have had the experience previously as well! Might seem like a newbie question but reading the CAMS standards, if i was to enter Clubsprint Class do i require a rollcage? From looking at schedule A of the CAMS requriement be fitted with a safety cage as required by Schedule J (refer to “General Requirements for Cars and Drivers” in the CAMS Manual of Motor Sport); im pretty sure looking at the pics from previous years i dont see cages in some of the cars. To put it short - WHAT DO I NEED TO DO to my street driven car to enter the club sprint class of superlap - or dont even bother? Cheers Steve
  22. That was actually a trial format which had 6 groups. I dont think there would have been 70 cars that day, 50 at most - plenty of track time that day. After speaking to Jane, they will be going back to the old format of 4 groups capped at 60 cars. First in best dressed!
  23. Hi Guys, went to the last meeting just before xmas and it was a very enjoyable day. The fact i was the only one of 2 skylines there prompts me to post this email i received from circuit club.
