  1. A cruise involved?????????????
  2. A bit of an unfair race. From the beginning the Silvias were slower from the start so the outcome was inevitable. They were definitely underpowered compared to the GTRs and even if they had equal power, the Silvias would still struggle due to traction problems.
  3. Yeah its been TOO long since AIR has last been functional for street drags. Basically the car had to be in good working order and you had to have an approved helmet. All you needed was fuel and some fun! AIR was crap because it was sooooooo slippery because it was never prepped unless it was for competitions.
  4. The HSV GTS looks like a Matchbox car more than a tough one. Agreed with PHATR32.
  5. eManage and other piggy backs are limited by design. You can only 'fool' the stock ECU so much by the time you throw n bigger injectors, turbo etc. Good for light to mild upgrades though.
  6. Most cars automatically turn off the A/C at WOT above ~3000rpm.
  7. Its called being-different-and-looking-shit-whilst-trying mentality these days.
  8. The 3 Cs here. Cash, Cars and Computers. All go hand in hand.
  9. For those who don't know, most ATs hold about 7-10L depending on the car. However the AT oil pan only holds approximately 1/3-1/2 of the total oil capacity and the remaining is still in the AT galleries & torque convertor and 99% of the time you cannot get it out. So you need to do successive oil changes to purge the lot. Best thing to do for the average DIYer is to drain the pan and fill every weekend for 1 month. During the week you drive the car so the fresh fluid mixes with the old. Then you have 4 successive changes to dilute the remaining oil. You can do this every 40,000km or you can do 1 oil pan 'drain' every 10,000km.
  10. Most oil flushes are kerosene in a bottle. This stuff thins out your oil considerably and thats why most of them say not to drive the vehicle. Also they can wreck seals in your motor, as I found out when I didn't know any better. The Nulon stuff looks OK judging by the MSDS but I don't reckon it'll do much. Worth a shot though. Also pouring oil down the filler hole with the sump plug off achieves little. The oil comes out of the sump almost as good as it goes in. Why? Because its only probably travelling across 5% of the internal surface area of the motor to get to the bottom. It doesn't slosh or mix around.
  11. Forget about the idle readings. And its a perculiarity that the SAFC shows more knock on idle when the weather is hotter too. Its the max value from a peak recall after a hard run that matters. If its 60+ then its real knock. I've mucked around with an SAFC II for 2 years and thats what i found.
  12. Oosh, sorry I didn't mean rocker, mean't the valley cover. Nah it wasn't hard, just a pain in the ass.
  13. Hey mate don't call me an idiot. I guess you don't tend to spot sarcasm very well. Every man is entitled to their opinion! I have not insulted you have I.
  14. I can't possibly see how it is just as fast to do a compression test on an RB compared to an SR. The SR you can literally be done in 10 minutes. On the RB you haven't even gotten the darn rocker cover off by then, well on a NEO anyway. POS. I have a compression tester tool if anyone needs to borrow.
  15. Seems to me COTY is just a some ploy for a respective company to sell some more cars. If Holden didn't get it this year then there's something wrong. How many times has a company released a car and made COTY in some magazine or organisation.
  16. Sposed to make a small difference but there are other braces that should be considered first before an RXB. Plus they look stupid in a streeter but thats IMO.
  17. Oh and what makes Merc not the European Falcon then? They are even worse if you ask me.
  18. ..... when you constantly lose to SR20s. ..... when every nearby Commodore driver thinks he's the new Brock when driving near you ..... when you constantly check your rear vision mirror when something flashes eg sun reflection off a window ..... when you refuse to drive on weekends or pub holidays and walk/hitch a ride with ur gf 'just incase'. ..... when you are constantly surfing SAU for the next idea for a mod. ..... when you think ponder several times a day how you are going to spend your next pay check on the 'line. ..... when you wave at other Skylines, hoping to hell he's from SAU and that you don't look like a weirdo instead. ..... when you complain to yourself there's no public post about a cruise on the weekend. ..... when you think you're unbeatable on the street. (same goes for any enthusiast lol) ..... when you are READING this topic!!
  19. Who is able to build a custom spec cartridge like this? GCG? Anyone care to explain how a compressor shroud can decrease lag like he claims? Seems a bit weird to me...
  20. Although I'm not a hate Commos with passion, its hard to get a car that transports 5 people in comfort and has decent grunt for a decent price. Sure the BMWs etc are better but do you guys realise the ridiculous price tag of those cars with an equivalent motor? I hope the build quality is better in the latest Commos. When I compare my olds 5 year old BMW 5 series to a mates VX Commodore, the Holden is basically falling to bits both mechanically and cosmetically. Also I find it hard to swallow that your *base* model Commodore is like $35k. Thats huge money for a bread and butter car. Also hands up for those who reckon the "track stripes" on the new VE is totally ridiculous?
  21. Spotted a very nice R34 GTR on Torrens Rd today.
  22. I've been to so many wheel alignment places its not funny. And most of them don't want to listen to what settings you want which annoys me more. Eg one person said that -0.5 camber on the front is too much for the street. Yeah right.. Also I wonder about the accuracy of the machines. One place had my camber at -0.5 and then another shop 1 week later said it was +0.5 and I didnt touch anything. Bah I wish I could have my own equipment so I'd do whatever I want. Group buy anyone? lol
  23. Motul Turbolight is OK for the money. Some places charge >$40 for a bottle and thats a rip off for a pretty ordinary oil semisynthetic. People get all excited because it has the word "Turbo" in the name and assume its a good oil for turbo based cars. Judging by its OEM/API certifications, its pretty ordinary.
  24. Mobil 1 0w40 is about the same price as the Mobil 300V. I know which one I'd be choosing.
