  1. If you are ingenious and cluey enough to put a turbo on a v-dub engine, then u are ingenious and cluey enough to build an efi system for it. It will be more reliable, smoother and easier to tune and less likely to be a grenade waiting to explode. Upon my internet browsing I stumbled across www.megasquirt.info which is about a DIY efi project which seems cheap enough to set up if you're that way inclined. My last car before my r33 gtst was a 63 bug, and even with a stock engine it had pinging problems. So I suspect something would have to be done about the compression ratio.
  2. I have LI11NE on my 33 gtst
  3. How did u manage to scab these?
  4. Just today I noticed my odometer and trip meter stopped working. The odometer stopped when it was on 79999, just as it was about to tick over to 80000 clicks. What can I do to fix it? New cluster? Has anyone else dealt with the same problem?
  5. i just picked up LI11NE the other week... looks awesome
  6. I'm selling the number plates I have in storage, LI11NE, they are NSW plates and have never been put on a vehicle before. They are the black on white style. $1000 ono Call me on 0424081178
  7. Bought my r33 from them. Said compliance was going to be 2 weeks. It ended up being 5. Said that they would make the car look pretty for me and give it a full detail and give the interior a decent clean however I came to find the car still with stains in the interior and just generally pretty messy. They didnt even attempt to give me an ETA on how long compliance was going to take. Since the day I bought it from them there was some problems with the air conditioning and it needed a new compressor which was under warranty. They kept telling me to come back later because they are too busy or need to order a part or they couldnt find the problem. They kept saying they'd call me as to when to bring it back in but they never called. For me to organise a time to bring the car in I had to call them The final thing which made me finally say "stuff em" was they told me that it would take 4 days to change an air conditioning compressor, and they told me to come back next week so I could organise around not having the car for 4 days. Didnt even offer me a courtesy car. Also, the sales managers were very pushy and dishonest and kept trying to put it over me when they clearly didnt know what they were talking about. For example one of them tried to tell me one time I went in that "no matter what you do to the air conditioning system it will never work like factory again" and they tried to convince me the air con system in the r33 wasnt a climate control system . One of the other people there admitted the guy who sold me the car lied about it as well. Also, totally not related to my experience saw one of them trying to pass a hyundai excel off as a 1.6 litre and one of the secretarys there openly admit in front of me to a salesman that she had to lie to a customer to cover the salesmans mistake. I got an okay deal on the car, but it was during a sale. Otherwise their cars are pretty overpriced. And I thought used car dealers would be working hard to get themselves a reputation...
  8. Stay away from Edward Lee's Japanese Auto Centre in Concord
  9. spotted a silver r34 and black r33 passing thru the drive thru at villawood kfc the other day (not together), both had SAU stickers on the side...
  10. its completely standard... i'll be getting it serviced soon so i'll have everything checked out then...
  11. I just took my r33 gtst out for a spin (the temperature here is about 40 degrees C) and it was running really rough, backfiring lots and stalling quite often. Could rev it while idling in neutral and the thing would just stall when u back off. The engine was surging a bit as well. It was running fine when I was driving it the night before. Does anybody elses car run rough on hot days?
  12. Spotted a black r33 with the plates "slave2" cruising along townview road in mount pritchard.
  13. saw a white r33 covered in vynils and decals cruising back from bankstown to woodville road... followed for a bit
  14. I saw that one as well today when i was walking along woodville road waiting for my alarm and new speakers to get fitted.
  15. Has anybody bought a car or dealt with this place before? How did it go? Did you have any issues? Have you heard anything about them, bad or good? Just after some general opinions.
  16. I've got around $600 to spend on a security system in my skyline. What would you guys recommend? Its a series 2 R33 2 door gts-t.
  17. It will sell, but it doesnt look like its aimed at car enthusiasts.
  18. Had my 1963 bug written off, wanted a comfortable car which was also fun to drive. I was getting a loan so I could get something nice. So I started looking at imports and ruled them out one by one. Wanted an r34, but they were too expensive, and I wasnt getting a sedan. Looked at toyota soarers, but just didn't like the seating position and the feel. Looked at non turbo supras and they were too impractical (i.e. no boot or rear passenger space). Dont like the shape of 180's. Mitsubishi FTO's were too small and I wasnt getting a front wheel drive again (had previously had a corolla). Looked at the r33 gtst and fell in love with the shape, seating position and just the general first impression. Took one for a drive and thought to myself "wtf am i gonna do with all this power" cause I've never been in a car that is as quick. Spent a bit of time looking around at dealers and stuff trying to find one thats in good nick and the year model I wanted (couldnt get anything older than 10 years). I found an immaculate example at Edward Lee's Japanese Auto Center that had just arrived from japan. Its a silver 1997 series 2. Put a deposit down for $17999 which includes 12 months rego, 12 months warranty, full detail and paint protection and a courtesy car to drive while all the compliancing gets done. I was sold.
  19. Just about to pick up my series 2 r33 gtst from the dealer this week and i'm getting full comp from justcar's for $3634. 19 year old with an at fault accident beginning of last year. It was the only company that would insure me and full comp insurance was a condition of my loan. I was looking at the insurance prices for normal (read: boring) cars around the $18000 mark and they were still quite expensive. I wanted a fun car to drive so I didnt think it was that much of a sacrafice to have a performance car.
