Hawker College Formal Run 8th December
jnr_j replied to jnr_j's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Sister let me know she has organised some $ donations from her friends. Something like $10 each, so approx $140. Assuming people are happy to donate their time/fuel, I figure we use it to buy a round or two afterwards, then donate the rest to SAU? -
saved the best for last, nice work :burnout:

Small place in Fyshwick called David Hand Smash Repairs did a good job fixing a rear bump last year for me. David was a top bloke, can recommend them.

Whoever is keen please just turn up, we can then dish out passengers on the night. (just wanted to make sure people know there's a chance they might not get a passenger). Would be great to have a large convoy. Anyone else who wants to come, esp GTRs , is welcome of course. Will have to get someone to take some pics too. Maybe skylinegals other half? -

Ok, have just confirmed everything with my sister, it's 12 people - 10 girls and 2 guys. I think 6 cars to carry the passengers is probably the go. List of volunteers (in order of volunteering): R33 GTST me R32 GTST timbar32 R33 GTST race_snooze R32 GTR Sinista32 R33 GTST skylinegal R32 GTST sxygtst then came: choochoobaa R32 GTST Mr Snow R33 GTST leech_ R33 GTST SupaFly R32 GTST If the top people listed are still all happy to help out then we're set. 3 R32s and 3 R33s. Would have been sweet to do leech_'s idea there were more guys, although maybe the 2 guys could travel in the GTR then let all the girls out in following cars... (although they may be forced to stick with their dates if they're couples) Not sure what people's thoughts are on having extra cars for show? -

I'll have to double check, but I'm under the impression that it's a girls only event. Shit, another thought just occured to me: they probably won't want to ride alone in a car with some guy/girl they don't know. Maybe it's got to be 2 per car... -

Sorry no pics... being their year 12 formal I'm sure they'll all be dressed up and looking good, but I haven't even met almost all of them (let's just leave it at that bearing in mind one of them is my sister!) Just confirming again: jnr_j Timbar32 race_snooze Sinista32 Skylinegal sxygtst Should only be 2 passengers each if we get 6 cars. Sounds good. For whoever's keen I'll buy a couple of rounds somewhere afterwards too. John -

Ok sweet. So far we have: me Timbar32 race_snooze Sinista32 Maybe: Veilside R33 I'll confirm with my sister tomorrow, but it's looking good. Details again: Wednesday 8th December From about 6 - 6.30ish Weetangera through to New PH Maybe we can get 12 together and have a car each! That would be some entrance. In any case the more the better. (Hawker is ok - I went there too) -
Hawker College Formal Run 8th December
jnr_j replied to jnr_j's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Yeah pretty much, I'm just trying to get the number of seats, how well they fit comes second! 12 with say 3 passengers per = 4 Skylines Would be great to get 4 just for show in any case. -
Hi all, I'm hoping to find some Skylines to help me take my sister and her friends to their year 12 (Hawker College) formal on the 8th December. I mentioned this to her a while ago, not realising how many friends there would be - there are now 12 total! I'm happy to take 4 passengers, if I can find 2+ other Skylines (need 8 more seats) to take the others that would be great. It will be from Weetangera (in Belconnen) @ about 6pm, to drop the girls off at about 6.30pm at New Parliament House. Very happy to compensate for your time with some fuel/beer or whatever! Please let me know if you can help out. I'd like to sort it out soonish so she can make other arrangements if it falls through. John

I bought them and have now put them in, they're certainly crisp and bright sounding, with the 6x9s in the rear it all sounds very full and balanced now. For a while I was dissappointed with the extreme lack of bass coming from them, but discovered I had the amp high pass filtering (and adding plenty noise in the process - a think they're known for a shitty preamp stage) - oops. $500 Pioneer DEH-P6450 $350 Response 4x100 amp (on special) $200 JL Audio txi690 $170 splits $60 cables/rcas For a total cost of about $1300, am quite happy with the sound. Probably should have bought a better 4x50w amp for maybe $450, but this thing might be good for subs at some stage in the future. Just put on a hacked RCA for aux input on the p-bus on the head unit too, will try an iPod tonight... (that was my PM NO_RSPECT)

I'm looking at finally putting a set of replacement front speakers in, and want to keep a tight budget. I don't want to spend more than about $180-200 on the fronts, so I'm leaning towards the Jaycar Kevlar 6.5" Splits. I've got 2 channels on a Response 4x100wrms amp to run them off, so they'll have plenty of power. I'm not interested in spending $500 on Focals (although it would no doubt sound great). I haven't found much feedback about them other than people saying they're good for the money. Given that I'm not running a top of the line amp etc, does this sound like a good way to go in that price bracket? (they sound decent to me) Alternatives are things like the Pioneer TS-A1670S or the TS-C1602 maybe. I'm thinking the Response are probably the nicest splits for under $200 though?

Spotted: R32 from EVO motorsport beached half up the gutter on Tennant St in Fyshwick. Dealer plates on the car - looks it might be a test drive gone bad... Front tyre blown out, rears spinning freely. Heard the dude on his mobile saying: "Hey, can I speak to Chris..." Poor bastards.
