  1. Ok thanks guys. I have a RB20, RB26 and RB30. The RB26 is the heaviest of the three. I'm sure it won't make a big difference to my engine which one I use. Probably go with the RB26 one
  2. Be around $30,000. Thats a RB30DET in a Widebody S13 Silvia. Engine: RB30E Block with stock Rods, Crank, Pistons. RB26DETT Head, ported and polished, slightly more aggressive cams. Subzero high mount Manifold, Garrett GT3040 Turbo .82 AR Turbonetics 42mm External Wastegate. 600x300x100mm Bar and Plate Intercooler. Drivetrain: Modified GTR gearbox. OS Giken Twin Plate Clutch GTS-T LSD close ratio Diff. GTS-T 5 stud and brake conversion. Body: Vertex full widebody kit. 50mm rear guards, 35mm front. R33 GTR Rims. Suspension: Cusco Adjustable Suspension with front camber plates. Full Whiteline Bush setup and camber/caster correction. Interior: Recaro Race seats. All the needed gauges.. And other stuff.. not thinking about this till last, as well as the audio side of things.
  3. Sell RB20det buy RB25,RB26 or RB30. The first one is a mutant, the other 3 or related.
  4. Did you blow a turbo at some stage maybe??
  5. What Main Crank Pully are you guys using as the RB30 one does not lign up with the Power steering pump making the belt go on an angle.. Using a pully from a different engine (GTR) etc would put the whole thing out of balance a they are a lot heavier.. Any ideas? Different powersteering pump mount? Modify mount?
  6. I think you guys are crazy pulling the whole lot out togethor.. for the matter of a hour or two pulling the gearbox out you risk damaging your car etc. Saving small amounts of time is not always worth it if you have to do the job twice because you broke something. Engine + Gearbox togethor is one heavy mofo and it's hard enough to get the engine to go back in on it's own let alone with a gearbox attached. I would atleast hope you put the gearbox back in seperate? I have removed dozens of GTR engines, and I have always removed the gearbox first then moved onto the rest of the car. It's a tight fit in there and easy to damage things like the ABS pipes and AC etc.
  7. Nope thats it. Doughboy has given me some info on the turbo. Should do what I want for now with my engine. Thanks for your help guys.
  8. Is there any way I can find out? It being bolted to the RB30DET.. so I don't want it to be useless..
  9. So what exactly is my turbo?? AR .70 Intake AR .82 Exhaust The center core has Japan Allied Signal. 700177-17 CK0103J
  10. I was giving you an example of what it can stand up too..
  11. Stock Gearbox won't last long with over 600NM. The GTR I was talking about has a OS Giken Gearset, but stock bottom end. Has done numerous low 11 and some mid 10s runs.
  12. I have seen over 600NM on a GTR with Twin GT2530's.
  13. Not sure yet, will get it weighed when it's actually finished.. Probably not a hell of a lot lighter than a Skyline by the time it's all togethor. RB30 + Bar and Plate cooler, and all the other turbo parts really add up in weight. Have got fibreglass front guards and a carbon bonnet for the thing so that should help...
  14. Well all I can do is wait and see.. and remember my RB30 is in a lighter S13... (i'm scared) I have driven a T88 Powered GTR, and boost after 5000RPM is just no good unless you want a drag car or similar.. I was some responce. Probably went a bit far.
  15. Yeah when does boost hit? how much boost do you run and what HP does it make? Stock intake mani etc for you?
  16. I have a .82 GT3040 for my RB30DET with a GTR head. 42mm external gate. Be interesting to see how it acts..
  17. Well I have the GT3040 to try.. my manifold has been modded to fit it. When you say boost to fast? Do you mean it will hit all of a sudden rather than more gradual with a bigger exhaust housing?? I have a T88 33D in the garage... but I think I will like the smaller turbo a little better Laying them next to each other though, the bell mouths are the same size... haha.
  18. Hey guys, im running a GT3040 with the .82 AR axhaust. People keep telling me it's going to be to small on my RB30 and run out up top? Will I get the 500HP at the engine I want? Or is it going to be too small??
  19. Ok it may be getting off the whole RB30 thing, but why do you keep the AFM's Sydneykid? Do they allow for easier tuning? I have a Linkplus ECU all wired into a GTR loom for use with my RB30 with the GTR head. It is setup to use no AFM's.
  20. How do you read that Graph? What would be a good example of what kind of pressure I need to run with the GT30/40 turbo to get 500HP or so?
  21. Drilling tonight and modifying the RB20 powersteering mount. I will post pics.
  22. So many different types.. The low ohm ones and top feed there are light purples ones. 10.5mm fitting. Low ohm top feed and brownish colour, 11mm fitting. Not sure on the series etc..
  23. Yeah Joel, looks like you will need the RB30 one.. it's the shape of the bracket that stops it from working with the RB20 ones etc. A lot of people use the RX7 550's. They seem to give pretty good results. I just bought some myself. Some people told me the spray pattern is no good.. but if they do the job then..
  24. Have you actually tried to bolt it on though? It won't actually bolt on, but with some mods it should. Grind it a little..
  25. What depth etc do I drill the new tensioner hole to on the block?? A more exact location. I don't want to hit a water gallery or drill into my bore Oh and what do you guys do about mounting the powersteering etc, as the RB20 etc brackets wont fit the RB30. Do you use the RB30 mount?..which i don't have. And what about belts? Thanks Guys, Ben
