Dont Fully Understand Wheel Offset
adam-__- replied to MYRB30's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I keep forgetting, but I thought GTR's wheels were +30 offset? We'll just say that they're +38 offset on a 8" rim for now, moving to 9" +22mm offset wheels will make the wheels stick out an extra ~21mm from where it is now. An increase in track so I guess that's a good thing (I've got no idea on track work so please forgive me). So the new wheels will be sticking out an extra ~21mm from what they are currently. You could need some guard rolling done. -
Fitting Stock Suspension

Should be a piece of cake if you've got all the tools. A decent socket set and you should be fine. -
Fitting Stock Suspension
adam-__- replied to gtrzilla's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah, it was like that for other car's I've worked on as well, but for the skyline, you had to install the springs and shock as two separate things. You had to get the springs compressed so that you can screw the shock's top nut (to the car) while the spring had to sit on the seats in the right position. Most of the time the compressors would get in the way and make the springs sit in the wrong position on the seats. But yeah, I've always thought that there was some top for the springs and shocks to go in as once piece just like any other 'normal' after market kit. Mine didn't, it's a GTS-4, but it has the same suspension as GTR's so.... -

If you need the spring compressor really depends on how long the springs are. If they're lowered by at least 2", there shouldn't be any need for a compressor, but you should get one just in case. It's not that expensive, I think I purchased mine for about $50. Compressing the springs where a bitch to do because you had to get it in the perfect position on the spring otherwise it won't fit (into the car). Things just get into the way. Can't remember the details, but when I was replacing my rear shocks, I just recall being pissed off about the compressors. hahah. Fitting new springs and shocks isn't too difficult. As long as you've got the right tools, it's fairly easy. -
Don't go clear tail lights. You'll look like those lancer drivers who throw on clear lights.

Carbon Fiber Bonnet Do I Need An Engineers Certificate

The TMU we have here in Victoria are trained to see what's legal and what's not as far as I'm aware. So they'll bust you easily for the bov and cooler. They'll probably just pull you over to check on them. -
ahaha $15k. I wonder why this guy just didn't go straight out and say that he won't do it. Probably knew some people were dumb enough to pay that so just said 15K and if you said yes, he would've done it. haha

Is there a way to stop the caps from being taken off or taken off easy? Would be a pain in the arse if it kept getting stolen.
-
They don't look too bad, but I just reckon the white makes it look 'cheap'. PS. That's some green plants and grass you have there. Victoria needs more rain.

Oh really, it's up for sale? I agree with 75coupe mate. Don't listen to what others say, if you like it, keep it. You're the one driving around with it all day long, not them, but then again I do see why you would want to sell. Probably because other skyline owners will see you with 'sex spec' wheels and think it looks shit. +1 to everything 75coupe said though, you asked the question and you got the answer.
-
haha I guess shipping from Japan is for you! Worse thing I could imagine would be that the kit is as shit or worse than the quality here. All that wait for nothing. Like some people say, "You get what you pay for." Let us know how much it really costs though. Would be quite interested for future.
-
Eastern suburbs....... of?
-
If it sounds like a good buy, go for it! There will be a ~9 week wait on those parts to arrive once they've left Japan. So how long are you willing to wait?

I would personally put that towards a house mate. Try to get a property before the prices go even higher. If you're still happy with the 180, but just want something different, no point, but if you're sick of it or had a bad experience it or something like that, go the 34. Put it towards the house is my opinion.

How much do they usually go for here in Australia? Because add the shipping and the commission to the people who you're paying to get that in Australia and the price would most likely double.

Installing HID globes in a car's headlight which was designed for halogen globes will cause the light output to glare, hotspot and blind oncoming drivers. It's better for you, but bad for the oncoming drivers. Oh and I forgot to mention that they're illegal, but then what isn't these days.

haha no shit ey. Get's a new set of wheels, "oh I'm sick of these, I wanna get some kai's" hahaha Nah it's looking good man. Get some larger pics up.

Sux To Lock In Car Keys =(
adam-__- replied to fighterjet33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
You could always use the coat hanger 'trick,' but if you're inexperienced, it could scratch your car pretty bad. Just give RACV a call. Should cost about $120 if you're not a member. -
^^^ That's clean as man. Perfect!

The kit ones are the ACTUAL HID globes. Those other ones are just 'wannabe' ones. haha. HID kits are new-ish technology. It's just that they're not suited to our headlights so it's not good to use them. When you see "kit" then it's the actual HID version, ones that say "HID" but don't have anything to say about "kit" would be just normal halogen globes which are trying to look like HID globes (colour wise).
-
Those cheap ebay globes you've posted up will do nothing except give lower light output due to the extra blue paint they throw on the globes to produce the colour. Go for something from the Philips range. May be more expensive, but will be worth it. It'll give a brighter light and last longer than those posted. I don't want you to get those HID kits so I'm not even gonna tell you the price of them or which globe type you'll need.
