  1. I assume you mean wider tyres at the rear. A lot of guys run wider rims at the back. If you're only going to fit 17 x 7 rims you might as well have the same size tyres on both ends. That way you can rotate them to help wear. 17 x 7 will fit easily as long as the offset is ok. Check out the wheels and offsets sticky thread.
  2. Check out the sticky "New to Skyline Scene?" thread. Has links to all the specs for different models. The first R32's were slightly lighter than the later ones.
  3. Been wondering how much of an advantage ATESSA really is. Sure it gives more traction, but it increases the weight of the car by around ten percent. I know that the Whologan Racing GTR in West Oz races in 2WD. So has anyone done comparative testing? Would need to be as near as possible to same engine, suspension, tyres, etc but one lighter 2wd against the heavier 4wd. Mostly curious about point to point times on road or circuit. Drag aint my thing. If this has been covered before would appreciate a link. Thanks.
  4. 20,000 ks and owned by an old man? Who was the old man? Evel Knievel?
  5. Look in Group buys in For Sale section under Sydneykid/Whiteline.
  6. Last I heard the real problem hadn't been found as he was still trying to blame the turbo. The teflon in the oil galleries sounds like it'd be worth checking out. That stuff is seriously dodgy and if bbe knows so much about motors why is he even using it? As for smoking Ceffys, how do you roll them and aren't they a bastard to light?
  7. You want a screamer on a street car? Jesus. I mean what else has been done to it? You still have the standard cat and turbo. What about a 'cooler? Unless the thing's worked to the MAX you'd be nuts to even think about screamers. Big defect magnet apart from anything else. Do yourself a favour and get a good dump pipe. Dump pipes don't scream.
  8. A TURBO-ZET MAN!!!!!!! FULLY SIK!!!!!!!!!
  9. ^^^ How much more air CAN it flow at stock psi? Think about it. If the manifold pressure is the same the amount of oxygen in the manifold will be the same,as long as there's no change in temperature. If the temperature drops due to the new turbo being more efficient then yes there will be an increase in charge density. I think you should call GCG on Monday. Surely they could give you an answer.
  10. Seems to me if you flow the same amount of air through the donk it'll use the same amount of juice and run ok on the existing ECU. So I reckon you'd be ok as long as you don't up the boost over what you're currently running. Mind you I'm not an expert.
  11. To clarify the safety point, the reason timers are illegal in some states is because if you have an accident and there's fuel everywhere you will not be able to kill the engine/electrics quickly. This is a valid point.
  12. Bought me another 'liner a few weeks back and it'd been lowered by the kid who owned it. Now this is ok if done properly but Boy Genius had fitted shorty springs to standard, and worn, shocks. As a matter of fact the springs were about 50mm shorter than the distance between the spring seats. Now I hope noone on this forum is silly enough to duplicate this wondrous feat, but just in case....... DO NOT FUSKIN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, you may think it looks cool but it'll totally destroy the handling as well as being bloody uncomfortable and illegal. As I said to Sydneykid the bloody thing felt like it was suspended by Skippy the Bush Kangaroo on Acid. Fortunately I got the standard springs with the car and fitted them while the Whiteline gear is on its way. So to sum up,if you drop the car to 100mm ground clearance on standard shocks you will have a piece of shit. True. No discussion necessary. Trust me on this.
  13. Ring Fulcrum. They do Konis as well as Tein and have kits for most cars.Personally I'm going with the Whiteline/Bilstein group buy.
  14. I've got one that was in the car when I bought it but I don't use it. Most of the time it's just an annoyance,as well as uselessly burning juice, creating smog and wearing things out a bit faster. If the car has been driven with enthusiasm I just drive off boost for the last few k's or let it idle down a bit if I think it needs it. The reason I'm comfortable doing this is because when I had my last Skyline a few years ago I asked Lee from Advanced Imports in Auckland what he thought of this as that car didn't have a timer fitted. He said it was fine as long as you have a bit of mechanical sympathy. Since he knows a hell of a lot more about Skylines than I do I took his word for it. On the other hand doing it this way means the onus is on you not to stuff up so if you're worried do what you like. Better safe than sorry.
  15. Can't help you with the popping noise but Skylines don't have plug leads. The coils sit directly on top of the plugs.Mine does the odd little pop when I change gear but I don't worry about it.
  16. Hey man, don't stuff around! Do it EVERY friggin' colour! Like one of those D1 paint jobs that look like a pixellated chainsaw massacre splashed up the sides.Way cool.No worries about colour matching either coz you'll be able to add anything and get away with it.
  17. Oh yes, that road...well do I know it,and several others in the border ranges. The main driving technique to remember is if you can't see around the corner, which is often the case, assume there's something nasty there.Yes,I am speaking from experience. These back roads can be lots of fun but are NOT race tracks.A judicious "lack of confidence" ain't such a bad thing at times.Save the "cornering practice" for when you have clear visibility and you'll be fine.If you already know this I apologise for lecturing but it's amazing how many people forget something this basic. PS. As an example of the "experience" try entering a blind hairpin corner,on a motorbike,on the side of a mountain, with no barrier, and being confronted with a loaded logging truck coming the other way.Twas interesting..... PPS. Am going to check out SDT myself.Could do with a tune up.
  18. Well ladies and gentlemen,I found the answer to my own question. Just in case anyone else ever needs to know the Nissan part number is 55154-30POO. This is for the ball joint assembly and yes,the three letter suffix really is POO. Must mean something different in Japanese. Fulcrum Suspension outlets can also get them for you. $80 each.
  19. Ok all you experts, does anyone know the Nissan part number for the HICAS tie rod ends or even better an aftermarket source for them? Mine are a bit too worn.
  20. If you get stuck you could try Jeff Anderson on the Gold Coast.I got an airbox and standard BOV off him for $60.Nothing wrong with them.Seems like an honest bloke.Phone is 0755648333.
  21. Hiya sydneykid, this be my firsty ever SAU post.Just signed up. Anywayz I have an R32 GTS4 which is currently suspended by Skippy the Bush Kangaroo on Acid. Not my choice. Was like that when I bought it a week ago. Sooo, what I want to know is can you supply a kit to sort this evil critter out.I want everything and I want it now. What do you recommend. The car is for road use. Will be contacting GTRgeoff for one of his HICAS lock bars.I intend to do it all once and do it right before I spend all my money misbehaving. Also if you can recommend a workshop in SE Qld that would be great.
