I'd love to see the RB conversion and ask who did it for you.. Where in vic are you?
-
z32 brakes all round with a five stud conversion and 17inch rims already has a 3inch stainless mandrel bent Rb25 box larger fuel pump (gtr in tank should do the trick) then...... comes the fun stuff.... engine management....
-
i'm wanting to put a RB26 in mine... can it be registered in Vic? and it doesn't sound that hard a job labour wise

Gas Smell In Cabin...leak?
GTR30 replied to george.bryant's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
"environmental gear"..... there's a charcoal filter that runs from your tank to the engine bay and is designed to get rid of fuel vapors in the tank and air from the fuel lines... sometimes mine can get a bit heavy on the fumes.. usually going sideways and running it hard... Just keep an eye on the injectors and make sue you don't have any perished fuel lines.... that can lead to a nasty fire.... -
What an interesting thread... all you guys seem to be tripping over yourselves to get a look at Julie's car that would more than likely turn out to be something we have all seen before. On the off chance that it is in fact something unusual i would be very interested in seeing it, and the import papers for it if they are still around. I have the original import papers for mine when it was imported in Sydney close to 15years ago (i think, haven't looked at them for a while) and i can happily say that mine is one of the first six imported into Aust and have had it for many years now and have done more than enough homework on R30's to know that there was never a GTR version.... mine is a 'GT' version and for Julie to have a 'racing' version would be a very rare thing to find here in Australia as the Japanese would be some what reluctant to let something like a GTR R30 out of the country as mad as they are.. We're not calling you a liar Julie, it's just that we are skeptical of what you may, or may not have there...

I have Koni adjustables all round in my four door, they're for a R31 and fitted with minimal effort... springs are another thing.. the first ones we got were Super low King Springs, but were actualy the same height just a shitload stiffer, so i got some custom made ones from the King Spring Factory in the Gold Coast, i think they cost $250
-
I agree with Mag, and RSX.... keep in mind the car is very old and can't obviously be in perfect condition otherwise the price would be rather high.. if the motor doesn't blow smoke, and clunk and rattle while driving then there shouldn't be to much wrong with... with age comes simplicity, these old girls are tuff as, i drove mine head first into a 5ft grass ditch at about 50km square, mangled the front apron and shredded a tyre but thats it.. had it all measured and checked for chassis damage and it came out with a couple of scratches and thats it!! HA any other car would have fallen apart upon impact!

do it yourself front brake upgrade for the r30
GTR30 replied to rsx84's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Well i spent $1200 on my brake/suspension mods and apart from it being a bit too stiff driving over bumpy roads in the city it's great on a good road with nice corners.. brakes are standard with bendex ultra somethings- $40/50 - had to put new brake kits in every caliper (one at a time, it seemed every time the brakes were bled to put a new kit in, the seals on another caliper would perish- go figure) Koni adjustables and custom made Kings Springs $1100 fitted.... Plus a few new bushes - radial arms, tie rods end etc... handles sweet now, not like the boat on a po-go stick like before Who has done a Z32 brake upgrade on an R30... 300zx 4spotter up front, and 2pot on the rear with the 5stud conversion??????? -
sorry for the hi-jack i always thought the "iron mask" was translated from Hakosuka

Sr20det,rb20det Or Rb25det In My 910?
GTR30 replied to MrJai's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
go the SR20. Lighter than the RB, has a punchy power curve with a slightly larger turbo, and easier to fit your application -
mine has a computer in the boot that apparently controls the fuel pump and turbo (boost volumes?) I'm in the same boat, needing a new ECU as mine is getting very tempremental these days.
-
No, it's and R30 import..... first ever turbo Skyline
-
I should be on the classic register, i attached some pics

I'm in a spot of bother regarding L20ET ECU's as well... mine is on the fritz and have found someone with a second hand one... still unsure if it will work with my motor.. heres a couple of shots.. the black one being mine and the grey one is the potential one.. any thoughts

L20et Ecu Pinout And Wiring Diagram Needed
GTR30 replied to the big JC's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
I'm with old mate up there.... best of luck, I've had my L20ET for five years now... still haven't found anyone that knows their stuff when it comes to electrics with these.. -
Plans for mine as follows.. registerable pending: RB26 single turbo conversion (otherwise stock) RB25 Box 3inch mandral bigger cooler management yet to be finalised 300zx rear end(r200 LSD and brakes)4spot ZX up front with stud and offset conversion to suit 17's half cage sways, and strut braces *Done and dusted, and will more than likely smoke some of the newer models out there with the powr to weight ratio.. $25,000 budget
-
I've got work Ewing's on mine... are thy the same as yours cause mine fit perfectly. I thought that were going to scrub something cronice before i lowered it, but independant suspention is a beautiful thing.. can't fit a finger between the tire and arch in the rear, sitting on custom Kings
-
Damn shame, i have that issue and he had a mint version apart from the ugly interior trim he had... oh well, makes ours that little bit more valuable i suppose
-
dude, where in melbourne can i find someone that knows what they are doing with one of these motors? I've got one in my R30 and need a new ECU for it... couldn't be bothered working this motor (can't squeeze much out of them) and just need it to run well enough so the fuel pump won't shut off help me out david@digitalspark.com.au
-
I'm looking for an ECU for an L20ET as my one pisses me off and cuts the fuel pump out while driving! Still not a 100% sure if that is indeed the problem but i have eliminated just about all the other possibilities and need a new ecu anyway as someone has already been in there with a soldiering iron. based in Melbourne and i'm willing to pay for delivery if need be.
