  1. your correct the rotas in post 64 do have 5 spokes & are the lmgt4 copies, however they're just random broken ones someone pulled off the web a couple posts earlier. This thread is about LSX-438's set of 6 spoke rotas (the te37 copies) if you read through the whole thread you'll see a loads of photos of his exact wheels, for example in post #1 on his gtr...
  2. bit mixed up there so lets clear some stuff up. The bigger main spring has a set spring rate depending on the diametre of the metal & the number of coils, you cannot adjust the spring rate. If you want to run a different spring rate you have to replace the entire spring. The smaller spring is called the 'helper spring', its job is to stop the bigger spring bouncing around & rattling when the shock is at full extension & pressure is taken off the main spring. It makes no difference to ride quality as its relatively quite soft & just compresses when the shock is under load. To get a better idea of how much more adjustment your cusco's have you need to remove a wheel so you can look at the coilover side on as its being blocked by the spring in those pictures. That said you should easily have 20mm of adjustment left. To adjust them you need to jack the car up to take the load off the coilover, remove the wheel & using a pair of 'C' spanners move the spring perch up the shock shaft. The spring perch is the red bit that the helper & main spring sits on, it may be hard to move due to all the road grime so have wd40 at the ready. cheers, tim
  3. That may well be the case with skylines but as i said with the z32 at least the 'aus-spec' super streets have softer spring rates. Easiest way to be sure would be to contact fulcrum.
  4. All teins come from Japan however there is an 'aus-spec' version of the super streets thats sold through Fulcrum suspension. They're the official tein importers for aus. I'm not sure about the differences for skylines but I know with the z32 models (essentially same as r32 gtr) the spring rates are different by a few kg & I believe the dampening my be different also but dont quote me on that. Regardless of wheter they're 'aus-spec' or 'jap-spec' pretty much any locally bought coilovers will be more expensive then buying straight from japan.
  5. Thanks for the parts mate, perfect condition, well packaged & lots of communication. Excellent transaction.

  6. what about this one that just got posted up this morning?
  7. agreed, getting silly cheap here! Have you tried chucking them on nissansilvia.com? perfect width/offset for s14 or s15
  8. The spanners are only used to adjust the height of the spring perch, all you need is a socket set to remove the actual coilovers themselves. I sourced a new pair of hks spanners through an importer for about $50 shipped when I got mine, think it was perfectrun or greenline (cant recall which) & they just got them straight from hks. Generic ones will fit though. Good choice with the hks too.
  9. hr's are old & at the time were the base model, no dampner adjustment just height, so we're talking a late 90's base model coilover with stiff springs. Flex are newer (though still getting a bit old now), have height & dampner adjustment & you can adjust the height without affecting the preload (this is good). They also have spring rates designed for street driving. I'd sell them both & get a set of tein mono-flex or another quality mono-tube coilover.
  10. he ended up re-advertising them for $1800 the lot (rp03's + toyo's) about a month later & they were snapped up very quick, so yeah I think your right about the initial price being a touch high. as for his disappearance it all went very quiet & was never fully disclosed on the forum, a number of people ended up trying to chase him up via the cops/courts & I guess they just didn't want to discuss it.
  11. they're a really nice wheel but those specific ones you've linked to were sold to another aus300zx member as mentioned in the thread, also avoid anything being sold by 'zx2nv' like the plague as he went underground a while back owing aus300zx members $10-20k!
  12. bit more info in his carsales ad awesome car & good luck with the sale. If my numbers come up sat night I'll give you a call cheers, tim
  13. with z32's at least the flex has spring rates 1 or 2 kg harder than the super streets, I assume its the same for skylines, so they're slightly harder. believe its like s.s.=6/4kg to flex=7/6kg but again thats for z32. flex has a lot more height adjustment than super streets & height also doesnt affect preload (this is good). that said monoflex is a lot better than both (others are twintube design) but more $.
  14. yeah they dont have a real flash reputation... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ro...hl=rota+failure but who knows, they might have got their act together by now. Plus they look great on your gtr. cheers, Tim
  15. wow this is an impressive car! Congratulations on an exceptional build so far. Think you need the nismo's on there though, but after seeing the nismo's next to the 19" te37's they look small so time for some 19x10.5 lmgt4's... Do you mind if i ask what you do? Feel free to tell me to bugger off though! cheers, Tim
  16. what an awesome plan! Now if I understand this right the comp finishes day before cup day then you have a couple nights in melbourne & then you tackle the great ocean road correct? If so then you should be right to avoid most of the tourists & get a decent run. When your driving back I suggest taking a detour through some of the inland twisty roads too. Can turn off g.o.r. at Skene's Creek & then left onto Turtan's Rd, its very tight & twisty with forest to edge of road & is a fantastic drive. Then head out toward Lavers Hill & onto Otway Fly then back towards Apollo Bay. Its a stunning drive & really worth the trip if you have the time. You'll have a great time driving it just be aware of the coppers, especially near towns, (they hide in bushes, use helicoptors, etc) & be aware of other drivers/riders, a lot think the centre lane markings are more of a 'guide'... cheers, Tim
  17. I'm still keen for a pair mate if you decide to seperate
  18. you'd probably have more luck at aus300zx
  19. lidz

    Z32 Ecu

    might have better luck here
  20. you can buy them from concept z performance in the states, see here. Have boughts loads of bits for my z32 & service is always excellent.
  21. Yeah thats a fair hit, did you do that or did you buy them bent? Just because there was a black set for sale in vic on firesport.com a while back that had one bent wheel. Either way they're pricy wheels should you need to replace it. I managed to find a used set locally but prior to that was looking at buying new & best i could find was $900 a wheel from japan through j imports (when dollar was good, more now). Where also available through nissan dealerships at a touch over $1300 each. Otherwise look to import one used from japan, probably wont find a black one but if you got another colour you could just get it powdercoated to match. for example heres a single bronze one, wheels currently $550 but shipping, etc will be another $300-$400. Any import agent could bring it in for you. cheers, Tim
  22. if you have any luck with original ones at a non ridiculous price let me know please, I'm in need of 2 bronze flat style caps. cheers, tim
  23. ok we've hit a snag, yours dont use circlip groves... No clue what model they are but they've clearly got a threaded body & it's looking like your spring seat is wound all the way down (unless theres some more thread under that black bandy thingy?) Modification is probably out of the question now, though double check with a quality suspension place. Might have to start looking at buying something new again. Have you considered buying off yahoo auctions japan? lots of options for you both new & used, simply find something you like then contact an importer. I've used importmonster & Jesse Streeter, both excellent service. For example: aragosta, HKS 4way, HKS hipermax 2, Ohlins, Top Secret, Apexi N1 All will sell for between $1000-$1500 (roughly, could go either way) & need shipping + fees on top of that, say $750ish. Much cheaper bargins can be found if you have a good look. I've got the hipermax 2's in my z32 & find them fantastic, all the others are highly reknowned & are high spec coilovers. cheers, Tim
  24. Any good suspension place that rebuilds coilovers should be able to do it for you, perhaps some of the nsw members could suggest somewhere? Or maybe pm Sydneykid for a recommendation?
  25. cheaper, read into that what you will. Honestly if you have nismo coilovers with seperate oil resevoirs (ie. good ones) just get some more circlip groves added, they're already better than superstreet or flex.
