EVERY big HP RB that I have seen over the years has used Splitfires or a custom ignition system. For cost VS mucking about with something custom you cant go past Splitfires.

I have an RB25DET gearbox and Exedy Twin plate with flywheel for sale.
Gearbox is in good condition with no crunching has around 90k on it.
Clutch has under 10k on it and is in good condition, comes with flywheel.
$2500 for both.
$1500 for the box.
$1500 for the clutch.
Items are pickup SW Sydney.
I have been told there is a 120amp out there that people use, any know what it is or where I can get it?
Surely people have had to upgrade the alternator at some stage?

Is there an OEM alternator for RB engines that has a higher output than the stock RB25DET alternator?
Or
Can I get my current alternator refurbished to a higher output?
They go for about $1200 depends on what you get. The shudder could be from contamination, oil and crap getting on the flywheel makes it glaze, hence shudder.
Yeh my clutch has a small friction point, 100kms of driving and you get used to it.
