Give them a call if you're willing to spend extra cash otherwise search for people wrecking their cars... i just didn't have the time to wait for one to come up. Now Im low on cash and doubt ill be getting my rb30 block next week

Come And Try Collingrove Hillclimb 26th April
SkyHi_33 replied to Moodles2's topic in South Australia
Collingrove hill climb is a very tight course. Its fairly steep and there's a few hairpin corners. Doesn't last very long, pros do it in about 35sec and you usually get about 4 runs up the hill throughout the day. Seems pretty expensive for what you get but the drive to/from is amazing!!! Highly recommend taking the hills way home. btw, type this in to google earth to see it 34°33'24.46"S,139° 6'6.99"E -
yeh good idea im up for that
-
ahh awesome, thanks!

Ford Laser kf/kh fiberglass front bar (if anyone has a daily they wanna pimp out) Red, crack on drivers side top corner from car rolling in to a wall... easy fix $150 o.n.o
-
haha that sounds dodgey as... I've test fitted dozens of bike helmets and never came across that. but for $50 odd vs. $300+ you cant really complain hey! maaan soo cant wait for this track day!! and for the dude in 31 auto, nothin wrong with that!! my 33's an auto too and i bet imma cop shit for it but meh.. im there for the experience and safe fun, who cares
-
yes i did. read through it a few times now.. just making sure

Ok sweet, thanks. Anyways just clarifying, the block I'm after is a VL s2 rb30e? Oh and btw, starting next week welcome to my rb30 build thread

450kw at the engine... take around 18% power loss through drivetrain and you're at roughly 370kw at the wheels which is still fairly safe for my application in theory. As mentioned rb30's tend to have a balance issues so that's another thing where money is gonna be an issue. Do you know how much these usually retail at? Ive had a look on their website but no pricing for import motors.
-
Yeah it is possible to achieve 600hp with a stock bottom end but id rather do it safely and reliably, do it once and do it right. If there is a slight balance issue when pushing those figures, I'm certain a forged bottom end would be able to compensate much better. As far as forged rods are concerned, I've contacted this guy over e-mail and he told me he sells em on ebay. Here is a link for those who are interested... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=400023741957 Not a bad deal bit I've never heard of that brand, claims that they're good for 1000hp at 10,000rpm with upgraded rod bolts. do it its not that easy, but have a good read through the links Steve put up.. pretty much everything you need to know is covered.
-
I hope not Now its a waiting game till someone comes round and buys my bike so i can fund this. Pricing up forged rods and pistons I've found cheapest prices to be around $1200 + piston rings. Not sure on brand of rods (from US) but acl pistons... Acl race bearings rod and main just under $200 Sucks its a long weekend so cant ring up anyone else but that's what i got so far. Decent prices?

my mate had the shift-I on his bike a while back, great product!

you probably could get an e-manage with the harness etc for $500 but who in SA will tune it? Last I heard basically no one here knows that much about them and on top of the price for an e-manage you have installation + dyno tune costs. get all the mods that you want, store them till you have everything, get it all installed in one go and pussy it to a tuner for the r32 computer remap and tune for $500... then be done with it and enjoy it.

My Grand Plan For Decent Driver Training In Sa
SkyHi_33 replied to Iron Chef's topic in South Australia
Top idea, no matter how experienced you are at driving, professional training will only help things further... I have done some advanced motorbike rider training out of the normal program and have learned a lot more (and there's a lot more to learn), have come close to being totally wiped out but knew exactly what to do to save my ass. If it wasn't for that i don't think i would have been writing this. -
pm replied, thanks heaps! I do have a variety of tools on my disposal and as mentioned before have helped with rebuilds so i know what is required, its gonna be harder doing it myeslf i know, but we all gotta start somewhere. As far as machining and balancing etc. is concerned, that is the only part where i will have to pay a professional as I wouldn't want to attempt it myself. After all the reason for starting this thread is seeing who here has done it so in case i do get stuck i have a bit of reference and first hand experience to help me through it. And it helps others who are thinking of going down the same path and i know there are a few on here.

5x 20L jerry cans on a bus there and back. Probably manage to use the same ticket on the way back
-
haha too right... not after lag than instant smoke show. i have thought about this also, well still thinking about all this stuff, hence why i made a thread to see who has actually done it in SA. Anyone keen to take me for a short spin ? Really keen to find out what the response and driveability are like.
-
key to me spending 2.5-3k is I'm doing it myself. i know that obviously no one is gonna build me one that cheap, there's a lot of labor in it. I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to this either, I've had experience in rebuilding a volvo turbo motor as well as a rubbish vt ecotec through tafe so have a pretty good idea of how things are done. Thanks heaps for the links steve, got a bit of reading to do eh? Reason why do it with an rb30? 1. torque 2. bigger displacement is always a good thing 3. matched with the right turbo and set up properly it would give me better results than doing the same with an rb25 4. rebuilding my motor (rb25) myself would cost roughly the same 5. id rather have my car running as long as it can while i build a motor for it
-
alright, were set then.

Heya, Am thinking bout rebuilding my engine but the quotes ive been given this week are ridiculous, so im thinking of building up my own rb30 bit by bit and eventually drop it in the car. What i want to know is who here has done it and can give me some guidance if i require it? I've researched it a bit (not enough to go and do it right away) but want to know if you guys have had any specific issues with it? Only chasing 250-300kw and have heard of people doing it on stock bottom ends, how safe is this? What are some places people had experience with machining etc. if i want to rebuild it with fogies etc. My goal is to have a responsive and reliable motor for track and hill climb, therefore power is not the biggest issue. Budget $2,500 - $3,000 (ps, its in SA section because i want to get local opinions and answers)
-
my only concern for this one is fitting an oil pressure gauge, the in dash one shits itself from time to time. maybe an oil temp too. anything else i need to make sure ive done on the rb25 before i head out? catch can, oil cooler etc? its only got basic bolt ons and boosted turbo...
-
well done getting off defect! and damn, whats with all these bad stories? the two different guys I've had were absolute champs! guess its my tall and charming appearance that works every time??
-
there was a deal available on here, where you send your headlights off interstate, they clean and polish em up inside out, respray the inner plastics, assemble them and send em back. was around $150ish if i recall correctly. but it meant no driving for 5 or so days while it was getting done.
