RB20DET Knocking.... Help Please
5 litre eater replied to 5 litre eater's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey guys, Just a quick update on the original problem, the car is running SO much better now, but i am still having the cold start problem, and now it's getting worse. It takes at least 4 turns of the key and constant pumping of the gas to get her started. I'm going to try changing the spark plugs, if that doesn't work, i'll try the fuel pump (it's standard, so it needs doing anyway). And if that does nothing, i'll try the started motor... (Again, i don't know much about engines, but is there a starter motor? I heard someone talk about it in their VN commie...) I'll keep you all posted Matt. -
Good work Aaron... I'll be there, probably working, but hopefully participating! Love getting out in the Karts

Have you thought about www.horsepowerinabox.com? I haven't used them yet, but i've only heard good things about them... Also there's www.takakaira.com (i think...) and a newer site www.vivagarage.com (it's mainly silvia's and 180's, but i'm sure they can get a few Skyzie bits'n'pieces.)

RB20DET Knocking.... Help Please
5 litre eater replied to 5 litre eater's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Turned out to be a faulty knock sensor... Still haven't got around to fixing it tho. The service certainly helped aswell. It runs a lot smoother, but is still hard to start in the mornings. -
RB20DET Knocking.... Help Please
5 litre eater replied to 5 litre eater's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I think Dr Drift has a spare one for me. The car's booked into BMT on Monday, so we'll see then. Fingers Crossed. It's in dire need of a full service, so hopefully with that and the new sensor, all will be well... -

Thanks for the advice warren. I just went out to check, and the plugs are in. I just hope now it's a faulty sensor..... -
RB20DET Knocking.... Help Please

Thanks again Roy for your advice... I've got it booked in at BMT on monday for a full service. Like i said earlier, i wouldn't know what the knocking noise sounded like, but thankfully i know what detonation sounds like. Cheers again. Matt -
Hey all, I posted in another thread about this, but would like everyone's opinion on what could be wrong... I'm not exactly a wizz at this whole mechanical side of life, so can anyone please explain to me what is wrong, if anything? I did an ECU fault test about 2 weeks ago on my R32 5sp RB20DET, and saw that the Knock Sensor code was coming up (from memory it's 3 long flashes, and 4 short flashes). When the car is cold, it is very hard to start (have to pump accelerator repeatedly) and the oil pressure sits under 4 on the dash nearly at all times... It never stalls when i push the clutch in, and never has yet. It also feels like the car isn't moving as quickly as it should. (EG, in every gear, second especially, it doesn't feel as free moving as it should...) Does this mean i've done a main bearing, blown the bottom end or am i just paranoid? Thanks. Matt.

"This sounds familiar, but i still havent had the courage to take my car to a mechanic to find out if the slight cold start knock is my bottom end. Still has good oil pressure, drives A1 and 20sec after start no noise so i am still living in hope. " Now i'm worried about my car (R32 GTS-t)... I did an ECU fault test the other week, and saw that the Knock Sensor was coming up. When the car is cold, it is very hard to start (have to pump accelerator repeatedly) and the oil pressure sits under 4 on the dash nearly at all times... Does this mean i've done a main bearing, blown the bottom end or am i just paranoid? I'm not exactly a wizz at this whole mechanical side of life, so can anyone please explain to me what is wrong, if anything? Thanks. Matt.

Hybrid FMIC For Sale.
5 litre eater replied to aus-intl's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I would be very interested in the cooler, but at that price, a little over my head. Why is a 600*300*76 Hybrid only about $600, yet for an 800*300? your price is $880? If you do have a 600*300 around, i would be very very interested for the right price.... Matt. -

what model GTR is it off? i'm interested, but in Melbourne. -
Nights are a lot easier to deal with, but if everyone is interested, we will need to book it VERY soon Aaron... I would suggest having it mid arvo (around 5pm) and maybe even have a cruz down Beach Road after. And don't worry WazR32GTSt, we are open till midnight on thursday, friday and saturday nights. And like phorj posted, the address is 50 SALMON ST, PORT MELBOURNE for those not sure. Hope to see you all there! Matt.

I just sent a load of info to "skylineakt" and hopefully it will be organised ASAP. A little info for those wondering, the karts have an AWESOME 6.5hp at the rears! They will get up to 60kph over the start/finish line, and slide around corners quite nicely... Firstly, we need numbers of who's interested, then we organise the right package for the group (including a trophy for the winner!). Otherwise there are arrive and drive packages where you show up, pay and drive. No trophies for the winners tho....

Hey guys and gals, I just ran a search on this site and Skylines Down Under, and found nothing, so can someone PLEASE help me out. I just ran a diagnostic check on the ecu, and it flashed up with 34 and 54. Does anyone have a complete list of the codes, or can someone please tell me what is wrong with my car? Much appreciated. Matt.

"Skylineakt" came up with the idea of a cruz and go-kart day. I work at AusKarts in Port Melbourne, so if you are interested, i can probably organise something. We have certain package deals where you can either walk in and do 18-25-30-40-50-60 laps, or we can organise a grand-prix day with trophies and medals and s&%t, but that is a little more expensive. 18 laps usually costs $25, hopefully i'll be able to tweak that out to a few more laps than that tho. But i will speak to a few people and see what i can come up with, and let you know in a few days... Anyone keen?

Area: Caulfield Location: Hawthorne Rd and Dandi Rd (city bound) Danger: The damn tram tracks drop so low, then jolt back up..... Straight: Just slow down heaps, otherwise, you will loose about an inch off the bottom of your car -
Hey guys...... After reading a few threads about RB20's blowing from running too lean, i've decided to look into fuel pumps. I'm aiming for around 200rwkw (eventually), but for now, it's an rb20det with a 3inch exhaust, Dr Drift chip, and either a standard R32/highflowed R32/R33 turbo (Sam's not sure, and i have no idea! ) running 10psi. I want to increase boost to about 12-14psi, and now i'm worried. Can anyone recommend a fuel pump for me? Any replies would be great. Cheers. Matt.

Is there any way to re-map the ECU here in Oz? Also, just a few quick questions, i'm about to wind up the boost in my rb20, and wanted to know a safe level. What were you running when it blew? And with your half cut, did it come with the headlights? Coz i need both left and right headlights and indicators... If you have them, i'm willing to buy them off you... Cheers. Matt.

They are upgraded turbo's that nismo make i believe, and i'm almost positive they are a direct bolt on. Don't know about price or size tho....

Ran my car for the first time last night :)

Did you wear the clutch in at all before you took her down the 1/4? I'm pretty sure a new clutch has to be worn in before you can launch hard, otherwise it will slip...
