  1. Not me lol gees...I'm hoping to run around 18 pounds for now and make around 280-300kw. I made about 270kw with my N1s so am hoping to improve on that a bit. Which reminds me, I should throw them up on here for sale
  2. Hey fellas so I've gotten on to Nissan for some bearings and seals for the pinion and shafts and it comes to around $500. Now, I was just wondering if this is it or if I can get these seals and bearings for a bit cheaper in Australia? At first I was going to try to re-use my old bearings and seals but my gearbox guy advised against it and also said that the bearings usually get damaged in the removal process (something I'm a bit uncertain about). Also, the workshop manual states that the seals should be replaced anyway.. Can anyone help with parts? Or am I on the right track with Nissan/Japan?
  3. So where are you at with your ride these days Sydking? From memory you were in my boat with too much lag? I've ended up sorting out my actuators and am just waiting to get my diff's sorted and possibly get an EBC of sorts
  4. We're just all very astounded that's all mate. Like Piggaz asked, do you have any examples to load up? Even some video of your own car in action?
  5. True, I also referred back to the dyno comparisons spreadsheet on here and the -9's (GT-SS section) average at 303.1kw at 18.3psi which is exactly what I'm aiming for. Maybe Cobra was running ridiculous boost? Some guys get around the 330-340kw mark with 22psi....but even that is still 40 odd HP short of 500. Not sure how far the -9's can be cranked but if you can run R33 N1s up to 25-26psi then I'm sure you can do that with the 9's as well....and that might be getting you quite close to say 360kw even though there'd be more heat created than anything else....guess it depends on where the -9's sweet spot is. There'd always be some people out there who push parts to or past their limits....like Xkalaba and his ceramics
  6. The -5's are one size up from the -7's and 9's with totally different A/R's and trims... and are roughly equivelant to 2530's. I imagine them being laggy as f**k around town. They would have less down low and more on offer up top.
  7. Yeh I bet - I do know these things lol, just had a major brain fart that's all
  8. Yep yep....feel like a fool lol, that's my fail for the day.
  9. How does yours go in 1st and 2nd? Do the turbos give a hard kick in 1st or does it feel like that the engine is a bit ahead of the turbos in 1st and it's only in 2nd where the turbos get to play a part of it. ...as mentioned earlier, mine are like that and my old 33 N1's were like that too. But I haven't quite had turbos pull as hard in 3rd and 4th as these new -9's do.
  10. That's a nice 4th gear pull by the way...she'd be gradually getting faster and faster just like mine except you get to stay nice and straight lol
  11. For us Skyline boys these runs are generally done in 4th as that's the one with the 1:1 ratio. All of mine have been except for this one tuner here in town who chose to do it in 3rd instead because he "didn't want the car going that fast"
  12. Well I'm working with a conservative 19-20psi to make 380-400hp ..... anything better will be a bonus on my unopened 17-year-old RB26
  13. Very true that one! Anyone know what the -9 / GTSS sweet spot is....ie, their zone of peak efficiency? I'm guessing it would lie somewhere around the 18 mark as mine go beserk there....
  14. Hmmm interesting. But then and again I was making about 350hp with the ceramics at about 1 bar. I guess that with awesome turbos and an equally awesome tuner these crazy figures are possible. Also, according to that chart flowing around the twin -9's are rated at about 560ps...but I'm pretty sure that's taken at the engine??? So if you were to account for drive train loses....you'd be getting back down to somewhere around the 480-500 mark. (don't know the conversion factor for ps to hp of the top of my head either....but i think they're fairly closer, a lot closer than hp to kw)
  15. Came across a fella on another forum today who reckoned he was making 300kw/400hp on 16 pounds with these Gave me the lol's
  16. Yeh I noticed that it straightened out the boost plot ever so slightly - looks good! And 318kw is also a lot haha! You wouldn't happen to know to what degrees the gears were adjusted or is this highly classified info?
  17. Nice work! I bet you're a very happy man - that extra power should be quite noticeable throughout the rpm's yes? I'm impressed by the gain on top...
  18. I remember how 4 years ago I was looking at -7's lol....and then I strayed off the beaten track and tried out all these other setups
  19. You and your words of wisdom Yeh I'll be running those degree settings past him and see what he can do. Well from what I've seen you've had some pretty impressive results too...especially those with your ceramics that's not a bad effort. I think the most that I ever made with my ceramics was like 354hp and then 375hp with the 33 N1's.
  20. But one thing is already very apparant and that is, sure enough they may be quite laggy in the city (at this stage) but when you're out on the open roads they can really hawl some ass. Quite impressive how they'll pull in 3rd and 4th....a LOT better than what my ceramics were capable off. ...hopefully with a re-tune I'll get a good average between the past ceramics performance and the current mid-to-topend performance of the 9's.
  21. Um nah the rear one is still worn but I let the tyres down and made sure both sides are very even. Keeps it straight for longer lol. Yeh I'll be fixing the front diff first and then sorting out what to do with the rear. Yeh you do make a good point there...I reckon once you've been through a heap of turbos you'll know exactly what you want and could make up a hybrid setup. But I would like to give these -9's one last chance with re-tune at Godzilla. If I still don't like the feel after that I'll probably strip the gear off and focus on more important matters in life ;-) 8 years worth of blowing money on Skylines is starting to get to me
  22. ....unless you bought the turbos up to speed with a rolling start at about 3000rpm and then launched it, then it went stupid in all gears except 4th and 5th....although 4th was a bit on edge especially on bumps or crests..
  23. Also, mine will only do it in 2nd and 3rd....the tune is not good enough to make it do it in 1st with just a normal non stalled up / spiked launch. My R33 N1's were the same....1st was only there for one reason and that's to get the car into 2nd
