  1. in mine it was two fouled up spark plugs, replaced all 6 and it went fine again. find out which cyl/s are missing and move on from there. with the car idling disconnect each coil pack one at a time if the idle gets worse its not that one, then repeat except disconnecting an injector instead.
  2. why would you want to do that?
  3. sounds like mine when it was running on 4 cyls. it idled and drove ok but sounded like a WRX.
  4. remember with the nistune and the powerFC that you will also need a Z32 AFM if you do not already have one, factor that into the cost vs the other options. If your tuner is most confident with the haltech units you are probably best going with that.
  5. ask your mechanic what they will charge, though the gasket itself is fairly inexpensive ~$30 its the labour to pull it all out that gets you. that being said other than sounding like a tractor it wont have any massive mechanical issues.
  6. do you have a video/audio of it running rough?
  7. sounds like the stock ecu trying to protect your engine from too much boost, it will probably go away with the powerfc fitted.

  9. no its not, but thats beside the point as he is taking shells
  10. If you currently have a 3" exhaust system on the car you can fit an off the shelf 3" straight through offset > centre oval muffler (16" deep x 11" wide x 6" high) my exhaust with that muffler on the rear and a hotdog in the middle is 92db @ idle (45 degrees and 50cm from the exhaust tip) and 89db @ 3500rpm. If you want something off the shelf the Kakimoto Regu 06&R has a decent sized mid muffler and a canon on the rear, if that is not quiet enough you can get the rear muffler changed by an exhaust shop to a larger item to take more noise out of it for a relatively small cost.
  11. If you cant get something custom made locally 3.5" or 4" (i have been looking for quiet large exhaust systems) you can see if racepace will make up and send you over a system, but all of the jap etc systems i could find had a little hotdog and a canon on the back that does practically nothing to the noise level.
  12. the stock crank as is will be up to the task but for the small amount it costs to have everything ballanced why wouldnt you get it done.
  13. he would have the plugin, the actual V44 only has 4 injector drivers
  14. You can keep the standard narrow band sensors you dont need to get the wideband sensor to use the ecu. The tuner will probably wire a plug in so they can plug theirs directly into your ecu.
  15. strip it down and check it out, worst case buy another cheap block and throw the crank in this block.

  17. oh does that mean it already has all the modifications done to the block? that thing will be cheap and fairly easy to get going then. if you need anything machined on it talk to greg at pro engines, he is about 5 mins from your work and knows his RB30's.
  18. if the pistons and bearings are all good just balance the thing and get the required modifications made, stick it back together with new oil pump, water pump and bearings. if/when it breaks go for the forgies as its not going for silly power.
  19. give shell a poke and it can be fixed up when she is awake.
  20. you get what you pay for with performance parts. if its stupidly cheap they have cut corners somewhere to get it that cheap.
  21. just turbo the current engine make some more wasps. the car doesn't weigh anything so stopping isn't an issues and it shouldn't need too much more power to get the lap times if the suspension is sorted?
  22. if they arent NA spec they are useless to you though.
  23. il just leave this here
  24. are you sure you arent thinking of the GTR dumps? the gtst one isnt anything flash.
  25. Thought about investing in WMI? setup propperly in theory you could run your stag on 91 without much trouble. though i doubt anyone has actually put it to the test as most people dont buy it as a safety net, they use it for more power.
