the reason you cant just bump up the boost without changing the fuel map is because you would be adding in "16psi" worth of air but only adding in the fuel for the "10psi" it was tuned for. This leaves you with a lean AFR and a potentially dead engine.

Just because he has an auto box on the back of it doesn't mean you have to use the auto. The engine is the same regardless of what gearbox he was running.
