  1. hi the car is a R33gtst s1. i hear the noise when i drive slowly (straight and around corners), if im slowing down, and have notived it more if im turning left on a hill (at an intersection). i dont think its the suspension as the car has new coilovers and the sound is still there. the previouse owner said the noise was the Hduty clutch going on and off. i have jacket the car up, put it in nuteral with the handbrake off and rotated the back wheels and didnt notice much play (both wheels moved together). i havent done the diff oil yet so ill be doing that soon. the nuts on the wheels are tight so its not that (read in a diffrent thread that loose nuts cause noise). anyone have anything else i can try before i take it to a work shop and them say " *cha ching* yeah mate u have to buy all this un-nessasary crap and that may not fix the problem" thanks in advance, Aif

    Intercooler Fitting

    hay mate, give the lad's at 'Ultimate Performance exhausts & car care' a call, they've done my cat back, and FMIC install, and are going to fabricate my high mount and 3inch dump for me soon. they dont charge as much as most places i've rung for quotes and they have done heaps of high performance customs. there in brendale (next to strathpine) and will have you car done with in that working day (that was the case for my FMIC install).   3. i though he wanst modding after this? and i think his budget was only 1000 clams not 1500 for a PFC + installasion and tuning costs? i would maybe get split dump/front pipe from JJR and piggy back computer to fix ur A/F ratio's, i still need to get the front of my exhaust done then i'll be getting my ecu remapped. just my thoughts on the topic, good luck, AiF
  4. this may sound dodgy but when i tuned my aircon on the idle would drop a little because the fan between my radiator and my FMIC was just nicking the IC, (this is on a gtst though) dont know if ur aircon idle could be the same problem but it cant hurt to check AiF
  5. hay i found 2 runs in my clear coat and was woundering if I can sand them out very lightly then polish? or will it dull the clear coat? if i can wet sand the clead what grit would u recommend and wat polish? i dont think these wiull buff out ;p AiF P.S. there are about 3 coats of clear
  6. cant you wrap it in heat wrap? just a thought as i havent done it but thought that would trap heat inside the manifold? aif
  7. theres a place in Brendale called any jap spares, they had bumpers with reo for S1 r33gtst but they were a bit pricey, also try alljaps in virginia, they'll be able to get one in for u, i'd even check the forsale section for someone wrecking a r33 s1. good luck, AiF

  10. do u have an oiled aif filter? if u do, try cleaning it again and get a non-oiled air filter and see if the problem persists. Aif

  12. so. . . . . . i was told that my 'line was low on power with 163rwkw with 5psi boost, cat back exhaust, high flow panel filter and intercooler, and that i would make better power if i got a new AFM (i think this topic was about AFM's?) is this true or was the tuner being a gonk? AIF (sorry to get of topic)
  13. my dash gauge is at 6 on cold idle and goes down to 4 on warm idle. it usually sits around 4 most of the time. AiF
  14. fuel system upgrade (injectors, pump), you'll need a tunable ecu (would upgrade the AFM at this point), intercooler upgrade, you''ll need your exhaust fabricated to suit, probly upgrade your ignition (coils, plugs). if you search the rb25 stickied thread you see what upgrades everyone have had to do to upgrade there turbo, and youll get a rough power estimate. hold off on upgrading the turbo till the support mods are done then u can safely upgrade ur turbo. my 2 Cents, AiF

  16. the other week i was heading into work along drakford drive, listening to "a perfect circle" in 3rd gear as i entered the thrawa drive roundabout, (didnt feel like i was going 80km-ish) i shifted to 2nd and blamo the 33 kicked right out and whipped back i stoped with the intercooler just clearing the gutter, only feet from the light pole, and with a steaming pile of shit in my pants. very lucky there was no damage to anyone or anything, glad the were no cars around at that particular moment, as my laps in concertrasion would have just added to the skyline stereotype as "hoons". . . . sexy hoons, but still hoons. . . . . have a safe holiday seasion ladies and gents AiF
  17. if u wonna eliminate the coilpacks as the cause you can unplug one at a time and see if the idle changes (which it should) if the idle doesnt change then that coil is shagged....(i think thats how it works) while the coilpack cover is off you might as well try ur old plugs, if that fixes the problem then take ur plugs back and get them changed. AiF P.S. my car was running sh!t due to faulty coilpacks due to a pool of water in between the rocket covers.
  18. mate i think theres a "what ecu should i use" post each week or 2 do a search and read what others are using to obtain your power or budget goals. or ask xspeed which ecu they are most confident in. Aif
  19. i think u'll need a new turbo if u wonna run 14psi as the stock one will crumble. AiF

  21. you can get them from Nissan or opt for a second hand part but it could also be shagged. if u know anyone with the same model car try swaping the ignitor then the coils and see if the problem is still there (then again u said this doesnt always happen) best of luck mate, AiF
  22. there there little buddy, everything is going to be fine *pat on the back* you know when ever i think something its wrong with my car i put on my happy shoes and dance like Napoleon Dynomight. and if that doesnt do it for you, then u might take comfort in the previous posts have all said things like "I don't think the turbo would've suffered any damage" "i doubt your $2000 GT3076r has taken damage" "i doubt the turbo has sustained any real damage" and "wouldn't be a turbo issue"? do you feel better? *hugs* AiF P.S. it feels a little to me like you want someone to say your turbo is shagged.
  23. hay mate do u still have that clunk noise? if not how did u fixit? i got it to when decelerating and around slow round abouts, also if i accelerate then back off quickly i can hear it, dont really know much about the drive train. cheers mate AiF
  24. i used iridiums (but they were crap) ur better off getting the properly gapped copper plugs with the correct heat range, and i think if ur running over 10 psi most ppl get splitfires so the spark doesn't blow out. good luck, AiF
