Thanks Ben. Yes will consider adding relays if the wiring starts to heat up

erk don't want blue lights! Well perhaps I should have re-worded 'upgrade' to 'replace'... what I found when I pulled the globe out was what I thought was a unique connector, but it appears that the whole assembly is replaced as one with the HB3 globes I'm not happy with the low-beams in my units; the compliance workshop I used butchered them good & proper, and it's gonna be one expensive operation to replace those... so I'm trying to compensate for that a little by improving the high beams, which are good, but also a little bit 'yellow' and just don't have the... brillilance I'm after

Lol just to be picky could we say that we're missing R here (resistance). That THAT is the variable... which will cause I to increase. But yeah, same diff' I guess Mr Ohm's law - V=IR ftw

Nistune Done! Gotta Love Hypergear Turbos!
DaveB replied to kccortez's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Yeah even with the stock boost control though it's making somewhere around 14PSI up high. But I guess it could probably do more than that, and down low/midrange it really isn't great. I've been looking at whether or not I can squeeze a 12"-long core from frozenboost.com into the stock SMIC location. I'm not sure it'll fit though, since the stock SMIC has one front-facing pipe and the frozenboost core has both pipes exiting vertically... I'm not sure there's going to be enough space to make the turn. Just gotta get around to pulling the whole front bar off to take a look at the SMIC in-situ... too much like hard work atm. -

Really does make that much difference eh? I should get around to installing mine. I've just been so lazy. Got to drive to Victoria for a wedding next month though (yeah another stag wedding car... ) so I guess I will wait until after then anyway to go playing with boost (although I can always switch back to stock). -
excellent stuff, thanks Josh. I'll go looking for a HB3 globe then.

Hi all, Can the hi-beam globe be upgraded? Had a quick look and it looks like the globe and right-angled plug are one complete unit...

Thanks for the post Chuckie. Are the yellow calipers the Stagea ones? Or the '32 ones? Interesting that they are sliders... so I guess they're the stagea ones? Also do you have an RS4 or RWD?

The Nistune type 4 board (for S2 stagea/R34) has a high-speed consult interface... you just plug into the standard consult port on the car to tune I have a gcg-hiflow (neo turbo/large exhaust housing trim) and with a nistune upgrade + tune, panel filter upgrade, full 3" mandrel-bent straight-through exhaust with custom-made split front & dump pipe which fits snugly into the new exhaust housing (eg. no eyebrow divider), biig 5" body hi-flow cat', shift kit and bypassed boost solenoid, I find that it's noticeably slower than stock ( ) in some ways. For example, when taking off... the steel wheels in this new turbine just don't get going the same way the stock one did with its ceramic blades, they spun up soo easily - stall launches before were incredible, I was having to work to keep my head off the seat for the initial launch. Now, they're a complete non-event... you just floor it in 1st and it's wait... wait... rev's past 2,500 and then GO. Not as driveable IMO... which is why I need an intercooler upgrade and a high-stall converter (which is what I'll be doing with my 'bonus' I think). -
That looks awesome Love the side-on shot. Yeah I agree stags swallow wheels alright. 19s look right at home without even looking overly large. 20's start to draw attention I think.

Also I think the hard part about changing it is reconnecting the hydraulic line from the transfer case. I think it would need new seals, and it needs to be bled.
-
Pity about the licence... thanks for the reply though, better late than never

Ah, thanks Rob - are you able to give the measurements of, say, the Trust sidemount including side tanks? I am looking at a air-water core of a similar shape and style (single side entry/return) to a SMIC, but it is 12" or 300mm wide, including the side tanks... wondering if I have a hope in heck of fitting in in the standard position. It's also 300mm tall and ~115mm deep/thick.

Awesome stuff Rob - thanks for the measurements! and for the awesome pic's

No worries Jarryd sounds good I've sent you an e-mail at your hotmail address. cheers DaveB PS btw I was talking the depth of the guage... not the diameter... or does it just happen that the depth and diameter are both 52mm? -
yeah I counted 15, so not too bad

Was a good day... wishing I had brought my camera... left early at Hunter road or something on the way to Lobethal... noooo petrol kudos to Adam for organising this! couple of awesome 260's guys

Smic Wanted Bigger Than Gtt
DaveB replied to KiwiRS4T's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Yes, will do. First thing I need are dimensions of the S2/R34 cooler (namely external H/W/D, pipe centres & mounting locations)... need to work up the enthusiasm to pull mine out just for that. Might clean it out while I'm at it though... need a breather box I think, getting some oil in intake, can imagine what inside of the intercooler must be like. -
not good news hope you're better by the afternoon! I think I also have a collapsed cat... except mine just rattles a lot, and exhaust smells terrible
-
Ah, I see THAT's a bit different then. Even with a die grinder would be cheap.

Smic Wanted Bigger Than Gtt
DaveB replied to KiwiRS4T's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hmm, doesn't look much larger physically (if any) to the R34/S2 stagea one? I guess it much be though. It would certainly be an easy way to upgrade my cooler to use one of these. For a decent side-mount upgrade (say 20% or so?) I would be willing to pay a couple of hundred. Otherwise I think I will try the water-air option (heat soak on hot days is noticeable atm). -
Hi all, Just thought I'd share that I visited MV auto's in Adelaide about my standard (as far as I know) trans cooler on my S2. It is pretty large, a lot more substantial than the S1's and possibly even larger than the Davies Craig jobbie in those pictures that SK fitted. MV's advice was that it was a good size and didn't require upgrading; only that it would need relocating if I was to fit an intercooler. Which I will do eventually... and a high-stall convertor is sounding more like a good idea as my GCG hi-flow turbo is lacking in stall-launches compared to the stock turbo.

How much is a Greddy inlet manifold? ~$500? For that price shouln't you get brand-name items?
