Wrecking Complete Stagea Series 1
DaveB replied to msports180's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Would be interested in the FMIC if it was turn-back style an fit a S2... but from looking at the pics I'm pretty sure it's not. -
Guys I hope you get your problem sorted and it is just something cheap like plugs. On the question of TPS... isn't the M35/V35 fly-by-wire? If so the sensor's on the accelerator pedal and hopefully it's not prone to the breakdowns the old ones in the harsh engine bay conditions used to be... Hsusy (OP513) that sounds so much like the problem I had... this bit... I found that the idle was fine, I would stop, the idle was fine, then about a half a second later the revs would dip. Sometimes it would dip just a little, sometimes not at all... sometimes the car would stall completely. The problem causing this on mine I think was the pressure regulator in the transmission and/or the stuffed shift solenoid A; a weird situation would result (Mike at MV explained it) and the transmission would go into like a 'change gear phase' and cut ignition I guess, and stall. It made sense to me when I considered that everything else about the engine was running fine; no problems idling and it had just received its 100,000K service (plugs, oil, adjusted idle speed, belts, power steering, everything).

That's good info, thanks! I had always postulated this was possible... I suggest a double-pole, double-throw switch so that one can switch between "conventional" and "european" settings.

Wrecking S2 Stagea
DaveB replied to pintaline's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
No worries Dave, I've got about a ~2 week wait on some locks (repairing damage from break in) to get here from Japland; so next Monday should be good DaveB -
Two issues with wiring it into the alarm: I didn't have one, and I accidentally left my phone in the car. So I had to go home and use another phone. I looked up the gps co-ordinates myself and then called the police straight away; I just gave them the incident number and the GPS co-ordinates, and they were able to handle the rest. I did notice though that street directories have lat/long printed in them; I could've I suppose used something like that if I was stuck. I asked one of the officers if they could use google maps in their car and was told that base would do it, and they'd let them know the location (I don't think some squad cars have google maps DAveB

Recommendations For Lowering...?

Hmm, ok cool thanks. -
Location PM'd... no alarm/immobiliser, however you can be sure it will have both before it gets parked there again (that's if it does; I'm not really happy with the car parking arrangement... it's hard enough just getting a park in the first place, there are tons of people everywhere, there's construction work going on nearby... and nobody notices people breaking into cars).

Wrecking S2 Stagea
DaveB replied to pintaline's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Excellent, that's the two pieces (upper/above column and lower/underneath column)? ...I don't suppose I need to check that it's in black? If yes to these please PM me payment info; postage would be to 5159 Thanks DaveB -
Too right. Had my S2 stolen the other day. A quick testimonial follows... It's a pretty nasty feeling, walking out from work on a Friday, to find not a stagea in your parking spot, but a weather strip. Straight away you can guess what happened. So straight away I called work security; they were absolutely $#(*@ useless. I have absolutely no faith in them now whatsoever. Among other things, I had to call two different companies, and I had to explain to them where the carpark actually was! It is right behind the building where I work. And I work in a HOSPITAL. For Chr!st's sake. Rapidly losing hope... Then I remembered the GPS tracker which I had installed some months ago; a couple of sms's later and I had GPS CO-ORDINATES OF MY CAR'S LOCATION. That was absolutely amazing; I can't tell you. I also got a speed of 0km/h reported so I knew it was stationary. I called the cops and they were on the scene within about 20 minutes; there was a busted ignition lock, and broken weather shield; estimate a conservative $500 worth of damage? I was bloody lucky. Some fingerprints were found (I had happened to have cleaned and polished/waxed the car the night before, and I never touch the glass etc. with my fingers... felt like I was doing all the work here!) The Police were impressed with the tracker's job, and price. "Gee that ~$250 was worth it, wasn't it?". It was, it paid off about 100 times over, literally. Cheers again gtr_z for an awesome unit about $500 below the retail for something like this. Honestly guys 'n' gals, my S2 is standard except for some second-hand rims that are worth less than half of what most guys are putting on their stags, and I am worried about theft. Imagine if your stag is modded, even seriously modded... you could've invested easily twice as much as me. Or more... get one of these units, and hide it in your stag! Then it is only an sms away... YMMV. /end rant

Holy crap, that sucks... I am in Adelaide too so I will definitely keep a lookout... this isn't wolven's stag is it? Don't think it is just know he had a silver S1 Incidentally my white S2 got stolen last Friday... luckily for me though, it had the GPS tracker fitted, and thieves didn't know!!! So looked it up on google maps and alerted the cops... got dumped way out north... looks like just minor damage, so I was lucky. I really hope your mate gets his back the same.

Recommendations For Lowering...?

Can the standard springs be used with the bilsteins? I can't remember from the group buy thread (pics have gone awol) but I thought the whiteline springs were shorter? -
Yeah that's the C34 behaviour as well; it will just bounce off the limiter. But if you slow to a stop, it'll shift up to 1st. I have always thought of doing this conversion; just 2 microswitches with about 4 wires to reverse. Assuming it's a purely electrical job, which I think it is. I will get around to it sometime soon, and post some pics. I'm sure someone must have already done it... the + and - signs will just take on a different meaning; ie. I think of "shifting UP" as changing from 3rd->2nd, or 2nd->1st etc. (ie. shifting the RATIO up) and downshifting as 3rd->4th etc (shifting the RATIO down)... PS Do anybody's S2 + and - lights illuminate at night? I replaced the two globes on the driver's side of the gearstick and now my gear indicators sort-of light up, but the + and - buttons stay dark... which seems wrong.

Damn, not encouraging... such a simple problem, but so friggin annoying

I can't promise anything in the immediate future though as I have to get mine back on the road first will take a couple of weeks.... but if you're still looking then I can sell you my original ones... which feel pretty good atm -

Shotgun the passenger side wind deflector! -
This has been driving me nuts! Time only shows up for me in CD mode... I have tried all the buttons... I figured it was run off the satellite too. I have removed the GPS antenna ages ago; time is out by about an hour and a bit.

it's a distant hope but do you have a passenger side weatherstrip and is it the same as for series 2? -
Wrecking S2 Stagea

Hi pintaline, do you have the two-piece steering column surround? Is it in good condition? how much? -
Thanks Richard, that is what I might do.

btw I think the bushes only give you about ~0.75deg adjustment each... so that's going to be a fair bit short of your target 2mm, even allowing for differences between cars. My S2 is at full (stock) adjustment already, at ~390mm, and I have around 1.5deg negative camber at the rear. I think I will have to go for the adjustable camber arm; at least that way I'm guaranteed to be able to get enough adjustment out of it. I'm pretty sure it uses the same types of joints (bushes) so NVH/longevity should be OK.

Hi all, I just thought, what stops the rear tyre contacting the guard when you lower the car? Anyone running 9" wide rims (+30 offset I think - R33 GTR rims) have trouble clearing the guards at that height (~350mm) with the standard shocks? I've heard of rolling the guards/guard pulling etc, but, although it is difficult to make out from this pic: ...there is surely no amount of guard pulling which is going to prevent the tyre from making contact with the guard when the spring compresses, if I just lower it like it is? This is a problem, as my suspension is already higher than standard (~390mm centre to guard front & rear) and I was hoping to go down to ~350mm. But how to do it without the tyre hitting the guard when the spring compresses (or the rear spring seat, for that matter - it's close too @ ~1 inch)? My guess is that either: a) I need to run mad camber (erk) or b) there is a 'dynamic shift' (or however you say it) to mad camber on spring compression. ie. as the spring compresses, negative camber results, thus the top of the tyre tucks safely inside the guard ...any insight would be appreciated! Sorry if this has been answered before... I have had a look through the print version of this thread already (all 29 pages!)

cool, good luck with it

Fs: Stock S2 Stagea Rims (16x7)
DaveB posted a topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hi all I've changed to a set of R33GTR rims recently so I don't need these. They have some cheap tyres on them which looked and worked pretty well; however unfortunately 2 are a little scrubbed on the inside. I would obviously prefer pickup but may be able to courier these, especially if you organise your own courier! Item: Set of original series 2 stagea rims (4), 16" x 7" wide with 205/55 tyres (need replacing). Standard skyline PCD (5 x 114.3) Condition: Rims are pretty good; need a clean. There is some gutter rash on 3 of them, and a couple of scratches on a few. With a clean and a polish these are less noticeable. Price: $250 ono Not asking for much here... just need to get them out of the garage... These will fit skylines as well of course. Please either reply here or PM me
