  1. Cool... anoyone installed one of the stealth style ones like this in a series 2?
  2. hmm wonder if it would fit a series 2... purely out of interest... i think that postage would be too much anyway.
  3. Diff' is LSD? I thought all series 1 RS-Fours were single-spinners?
  4. I can't edit the top post sorry... NO LONGER WANTED thanks as I think 'squealing' may be a different issue...
  5. Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of/experience with these split pipes with S2 (or S1 even, for that matter - should be close enough): JJR - under $270, bargain! BOS Importing '33 split dump - around $400, not so cheap... but if it fits... The 3" X-Force cat's are cheap compared to the BOS importing ones (about half the price); is 540cfm going to be noticeably less than 700cfm on a stock or stock high-flowed turbo?
  6. damn, hope I haven't got that problem... new alternator must be a couple of hundred at least. Good thing you had warranty. Pixel8r - those are my exact symptoms; everything is the same. Unfortunately though I have had all 3 belts replaced like a couple of weeks ago; I don't know what's up. PS You're trading up to an M35??? anything u didn't like about the S2 (besides the squealing?)
  7. Excellent... for the NEO engine as well? Lol! first time it happened I thought I'd killed one...
  8. Thanks Dale, I hadn't thought of the air con compressor. Hope it's not that! Yeah the sound is *very* annoying... especially when it's late at night/early in the morning... sure wakes up the neighborhood...
  9. Thanks for the quick replies guys; unfortunately though - - noise was there before the service - they replaced & tensioned the belts, and they are pretty tight - fair effort is required to deflect them 10mm or so on the longest span, I always suspected they were too tight even (old ones were tight too) - I had the water pump replaced during the service... along with idler & tensioner bearings (which I also wondered about) I've actually had this problem since I got the car, about 25,000 K's ago. It has been intermittent; doesn't always make noise. When I couldn't tighten the belts, I just suspected the radiator fan. I was going to use some 'belt grip' spray but it says specifically 'do not use on multi-V belts'??
  10. Hi all, This has probably come up before but I can't find it... I have a really loud squeal that lasts for a few seconds on a cold start... usually it's worse with colder weather (lasts longer). I've had 100,000K service done (replaced all 3 accessory belts) and that helped it a little, but still there (actually I think the warmer weather may be what helped). So I'm suspecting the viscous clutch on the crank-driven radiator fan... has anybody had to replace one of these? Would any old R31 clutch fit? Thinking it might be cheaper than one of an RB25. Thanks DaveB
  11. Sh*t, that sucks Adam... just down in Unley? who the f*ck trashes a car right out in the open? I hope you reported it to the police, tell them the name of the bar you were going past etc. Sorry Ican't help with repairs either, only remember a white series 1 getting major repairs, but nothing in Adelaide... looks like several grand's worth of repairs, that sucks. Good luck, hope someone else here can be more useful...
  12. Hi all, as the topic says, I'm after a viscous fan unit for a series 2, because mine squeels like CRAZY at startup, until it idles down... so loud that it can wake up people at the end of the street... Oh, and how much are these worth??? Thanks, DaveB
  13. Awesome looking stagea... I remember seeing this one advertised on J-Spec. Only thing that put me off was the 2WD... but it sure had the mods. edit: done any cruising? is the nismo exhaust 'droney' around 2,500 revs? I think it has a cannon at the back so I guess it is...
  14. Thanks for the info' James... I have a S2 stagea which comes standard with the R34 smic and I wanted to know if I could get near 200kw on the standard smic... that's the first info' I've been able to find from someone actually doing it.
  15. Hi all, Looking for a lid in good condition, like the photo: Let me know what you want and how much postage is... Thanks, DaveB
  16. Love the pearl blue M35's
  17. Hi all, thought this info might be useful, reproduced from the Jaycar forums from the link above (thanks to LZY115!):
  18. Well, part did not arrive yesterday, but it arrived today and car was ready to pickup this afternoon. Apparently a hydraulic pressure regulator also was failing, and probably causing the weirdness like stalling when stopping, reverse slipping etc. All that got replaced on the same 'rack' as the two shift solenoids, which is good news (especially for the cost of the solenoid rack). Have only driven the car home so far but already it's feeling much better, not messing around with gear changes at low speeds, and no hint of a stall when I stop or select tiptronic mode. I think it's fixed... at last... now to start saving for that exhaust all over again...
  19. Yeah think you're right; my bill for "Supply & fit shift kit & service" (got a transmission service done at the same time - recommended because they can replace more transmission fluid that way) was $450, fitted and installed. And I think a service alone is $150? Damn, that sucks; I seem to remember you were having auto trouble a few months back now? In fact I read a few threads about people with auto troubles... seems to be a not too uncommon fault at around 100,000K's in R34 transmissions. But glad to hear I'm not the only one to have this problem; Mike from MV's said it was a little unusual for solenoid A to go in mine, said it was usually solenoid B. Yeah about ~$400 for the new solenoid rack, somewhere thereabouts, could be more... but has new shift solenoids A and B, overdrive, overrun(?) etc. whole lot of stuff gets replaced apparrently. Would definitely recommend MV so far, having dealt with them before for my shift kit; however I can agree with you that auto gearboxes are *not* cheap to repair!! But a tiptronic with a shift kit is so nice to drive...
  20. Oh? didn't know that... that's handy, more spares. Though hopefully I won't need too many more Well dropped the car off this morning at MV's and Mike (MV Mike this time) called me back about an hour later to say that yes, shift solenoid A was gone, and was likely causing all the other faults that I was having with the transmission, like it slipping out of reverse, shuffling gears at low RPM, stalling after stopping etc. etc. Here's something interesting that I didn't know: he said you had to take the transfer case off the side of the auto, *before* you could get it out of the car... even on the chassis lifter. That sucks, 'cause it means a lot more in labour. So going for the cheaper option means I won't be able to replace my gearbox after all. I am going to get a new 'solenoid rack' fitted which has new shift solenoids (A & B), overdrive solenoid etc. Basically sounds like all the hydraulic control units will be replaced. And I still have my shift kit. So hopefully nothing else will fail for a while (ie. torque converter or bands!) and I can finally start saving for an exhaust and get some power (but keeping it quiet at idle is a must - so oval). Will post up how it goes...
  21. well I'm no expert, but cement is lime-based, isn't it? so, something that attacks lime may be the answer... eg. CLR (Calcium Lime and Rust). Does a dandy job of dissolving great holes in your garage's cement floor when u spill it...
  22. Hi there, I'm looking for a quiet cat-back that will fit series 2 stagea, something like HPI silent power etc (something with a rear oval, not canon). Do you have anything in stock like this or is there something you can order in? Looking around at prices at this stage, hoping for <$1,000 delivered.
  23. alas, I am in Adelaide
