  1. Cheers Chi So does that mean silicone alone won't work? Or even if I re-use the gasket that's there (is it rubber?) I'm expecting a Nissan gasket to be expensive...
  2. Hi all, As the title goes... do I need to use a rocker cover gasket on an RB25DET (neo)? ie. is the standard gasket rubber or cork where it has a significant thickness, or can I just silicone it? Also if I need to use one does anyone know where I can get one...? Sorry this seems like an obvious question but I did a search for 'rb25 rocker gasket' and got nothing. thanks! DaveB
  3. ...cause I'm feeling nice... 4. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fu...n-t194197.html# (that's for the fuse panel translation, scroll down to see the Xanavi button translation)
  4. Damn, another one leaving! Good luck & come back soon
  5. Digging up an old topic... but I have a problem which appears similar to Silverback's: my Stagea (S2) is being held up on the numbers check for rego' (after compliance) because (as I've been told by the compliancer) there's a bad oil leak, which is enough to visibly drip onto the floor and they will fail it. I don't have any more details other than the engine was pretty oily underneath for the day that I had it to look it over before it went off to compliance, and the leak is coming from the passenger side of the engine. Although he mentioned that it was the oil cooler that was leaking, and I'm pretty sure that's part of the oil filter assembly, which is on the driver's side? I'm hoping he didn't leave the oil line to the turbo off when he changed the cat's... So yeah, if anyone can help with what this might be or what might be involved cost-wise in replacement parts... please feel free At this stage I'm going to go pick up the car as it's apparrently still driveable (with trade plates) from the compliancer on Sat. so I will post some pic's. He said he suspected it was an engine out job (!) so I will definitely be fixing this myself. Plan to do the 100,000K service at the same time, to get me some room to get at it.
  6. Great info', thanks Duncan
  7. Cool, I didn't know the idler and tensioner bearings were easily sourced/replaced. Yes pretty much a 100,000k service is what I'm after. Anyone know approximate cost of idler & tensioner bearings? Cheers, DaveB
  8. Hi can anyone confirm part numbers for series 2 timing belt & water pump (NEO)? I think they are: Timing belt: 13028M [full (?) part no. - 13028-5L327] Water pump: 21010 Any help would be appreciated! Just want to make sure I order the right parts... I know these are around somewhere for S1 (indeed in the excellent SK timing belt replacement thread under the DIY sticky there is a part number for non-neo timing belt) but in case NEO is different I just want to be sure...
  9. OK so all I am armed with here is a R34 service manual and common sense... but since no-one else has said anything... Have you checked your timing with a timing light? I think you will need one with a special "inductive" pickup, that clips onto "loop wire" for the coilpacks (has a yellow stripe I think?). As I read the manual if the timing is out too far, or if there is a variance of more than 25RPM between injector pulses, or a #($*& load of other things occur this light can be tripped. Then again, sometimes you just need to reset the error codes and they go away and stay away. This is probably the first place I'd start... all you need is a paperclip. Instructions here are around aplenty
  10. dave_email at hotmail.com pc's online 24/7, but i'm not always there...
  11. Sorry bit OT but can you tell me if R33 GTR rims will fit a series *two* RS Four without suspension modifications?
  12. Where does one get a water pump for $69???
  13. Ah interesting, I know that place... first Legnum I saw was parked outside there
  14. Looks awesome! Engine bay looks pretty clean, can't see any paint missing off plenum chamber... maybe a few specks... might be genuine k's Soooo, I get first guess at the 'mystery box'... Damper adjustment? or maybe a toll counter for the toll roads? My RS Four's got one (says "Toyota" on there lol)
  15. I was just wondering, the old price used to be $486/pair with the SAU discount... is there no SAU discount anymore (ie. group buy finished?)
  16. thanks Mike I think you predicted early on that I'd end up swapping out my Xanavi
  17. Actually I mainly wanted to know if the brackets for the Xanavi were the same as for the 3-DIN setup with the stand-alone climate control unit or if they were different. These are the brackets I mean (not sure if these are standard or Xanavi):
  18. Woohoo! And another 260RS comes to Australia!! Congrats on your beast! 66,000 K's and 4B should = a damn nice example. You have improved the imports:Australian cars ratio by... (something tiny) but every one helps!
  19. yay, Adelaide is the Stagea capitol!
  20. What the?? Oh, this must be for the M35?
  21. On a related topic, in researching the connections on the back of the Xanavi centre-console unit itself, someone somewhere posted a pic' of the rear of the centre console Xanavi cluster on here a while back... does anyone have a link to it as I can't find it in a few different searches?
  22. That's true. I thought there might be some use to replacing just the single-DIN radio/headunit, but I guess you would then lose the capability to control the 6-stacker in the boot... best then I guess to either do the TV conversion & take advantage of that LCD display (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/St...Tv-t203961.html) or get rid of it altogether.
  23. Ah just found the PDF in your first post - that's awesome work thanks!
  24. That would be interesting... can that be done?
