  1. Probably just the disc but maybe your caliper needs overhauling? Sounds like its not releasing hydraulic pressure somewhere in the system...
  2. How do you get so much info out of FAST?? I can only find the first paragraph... everything under "options" is missing from the main screen as far as I can tell... can you show me where I go to get to that info'?
  3. They're cool but they're only flash drives with a (comparatively slow) IDE interface. USB flash devices like the new corsair drives are faster. Still, it's an option... I think true solid-state though is dynamic. 8GB of flash will still let you store a few mp3's though.
  4. Thanks for that info - interesting that other people/enthusiasts are starting to notice msy; indeed their prices are better than a lot of wholesalers here in Adelaide. A lot. I would anticipate any solid state drive released in that capacity would be hugely expensive (thousands) but we can always hope... flash drives are great but they have their compromises also (slow as, and they wear out!) My advice would be a side-mounted (vertically mounted) 3.5" western digital server drive. Cheapest thing around (the form factor, not necessarily the brand) in cents per megabyte, and if you pack it nicely in some foam rubber (with adequate ventilation of course) should be fine for a couple of years... unless you like to drift or rally, then you could have a problem
  5. does that give you the 5v, -12v, 3.3v, etc. rails that you need too? a member here has a cool project which is a consult display and port in one nifty little backlit LCD box that could even DIN mount... the website is I think www.ecutalk.com Thanks for the tip about the in-dash monitors at Jaycar will have to check them out...
  6. This is the first thing I plan to do to/with my S2 RS4 when I get it, and has been my plan for several years. I have been pleasantly surprised of late to see how commercialised car PC setups have become (for instance a few years ago just a 12V PC power supply was harder to get and quite large & expensive). Needless to say, I will be taking pictures I believe there may be enough room in the side compartment of the boot to fit a small PC in place of the (optional) factory CD changer. Good luck with your install, I recommend the via mini, micro, nano and pico ITX form-factor motherboard/CPU combo's, because that's about the only thing a car battery might keep running for a reasonably long length of time I reckon (although purpose-built car power supplies will shutdown the PC when the volts drop ) See them here: VIA EPIA boards
  7. Thanks Ed, I just don't think brown works in a nice black interior though
  8. Hi all, Does anybody know if a series 1 surround will fit a series 2? I should *real soon* have a series 2 navi-style surround in woodgrain that looks like this: and I would like to swap for the same in grey (or black from S1 if the same) - please pm
  9. A quick search on these forums showed up some previous posts on the same subject: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Vq...ny-t169683.html http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Th...&hl=VQ25DET
  10. I would be interested in a group buy like this for S2 RS4, as long as rotors are slotted (but not drilled)
  11. Whoa, damn - not good news! Hope it doesn't take them as long *this* time around!
  12. That's awesome stuff Brycey! My S2 is due on a boat anytime, and I REALLY want to keep my xenons... just to actually see the unit is a big advantage!
  13. Thanks Stu; gave them a call but they don't insure in SA I should've read the fineprint...
  14. I've looked but can't find a website. Is this the one you mean? http://www.customcarinsurance.com.au/ It looks... interesting. It wants a username and password (???) and when you don't supply those it redirects you to some broken page of terms and conditions for a competition?? Maybe "GIO Custom Car Insurance" to me sounds like it maybe a 3rd party who retail GIO Insurance? Anybody able to provide more info. on how I can get in touch with them? Thanks, DaveB
  15. I contacted GIO in Adelaide and they told me they don't insure imports?
  16. Whoa.... damn that's a lot of work because of one bolt... damn. Checkout the size of the cat (assuming that's what it is?)!! Didn't know you could drop the whole front suspension and engine in one go like that, that's cool.
  17. No worries Antony. FAST is PC software which the Nissan dealers etc. use - basically like an electronic manual and more, it's many CD's worth (4 or 5 for just the Aus cars I think), and has all the information on model spec's by VIN number as they left the factory, as well as parts diagrams/codes etc. etc. lots of stuff... more about it on these forums somewhere (this is a little OT). Just google nissan fast you'll find heaps about it. That link is for '97 models I think... perhaps here: http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/nissan/stagea/1998_8/ or check Prestige Motorsport's car spec's at http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/modules/carSpecs/ I have found them to be quite thorough, although the pages are sometimes broken.
  18. Welllll I'm no expert at FAST but here's what I've found: - your model number checks out with FAST (TGKNRXAC34UDA--AA-), good... - production year is Jan '98 - engine is RB25DET (so, turbo) - auto - 4WD - model code is '25TXF' (not sure as to what exactly this entails, perhaps someone else better informed than me could comment on this...) btw, the '5S5 J' is your paint colour code and interior colour code... FAST has your exterior paint colour as '5S5' and interior as 'J' which checks out. btw, of the options you list, these: - sunroofs - SatNav - woodgrain dash - 4WD are non-standard options. The rest I am pretty sure were standard on _all_ stageas (yes even the climate control, though in a single-DIN unit not always the fancy LCD screen). Much more info' on all this in other threads around here, have a look/search... hope that helps, daveb
  19. Nice one Ian, that's a pretty unique series 1 you've got there! I love the silver. So wish I could've found one in silver!
  20. Lol sounds a bit like my communication with him (something along the lines of "I've looked at hundreds of stageas" and "you're killing me! ") I was pretty picky and I had paid a service fee to another place at the time so he was doing a lot of searching for me without any guarantee of compensation. But in the end I didn't really find a single suitable car at auctions (after searching for over 2 months) and J-Spec had or found about half a dozen in the few weeks after I contacted them, of which 2 or 3 were really good. So I went with one from Ben and the L & C estimate was about 4 or 5 grand less than what I was prepared to pay at auction. Car should hopefully be on a boat in about a week and I will eventually find out how well it worked out... For the record, I sent my first (email) contact to j-spec on the 28th August, and I had found the car I wanted and paid the j-spec service fee on the 27th September... just under a month. Pretty happy all up. Had spent about 2 years researching Stageas though and watching this forum. Btw I gave up on the M35 for the same reason as you mention; j-spec had one on their site for a while for $14,000 though which was damn tempting!
  21. Mine is still on the docks in Japan, I paid for it on the 10th October, hopefully hear something next week Imported it through J-Spec (as you can probably tell from second pic'). Ben's been great to deal with, so far all good, been fun even... but now the waiting... killing time being artsy-fartsy. daveb
  22. Holy crap. That's just the remote start options???!! I'd choose... type D
  23. ** found one (contacted Zac at Slidewize ) ** Hi, I am after a grey radio surround (dark grey/black colour) to fit a S2 with LCD screen ie. like this (sorry about the quality - picture is of a woodgrain version, after the same thing in grey): ...just to be clear, only after the surround, with the double-DIN height above (and wider, to accept the LCD screen), single-DIN below, not after any hardware/LCD screen etc. I just want to replace my woodgrain version () Willing to pay reasonable price plus postage (say, $50 all up? what are these worth?) and would prefer a surround in GC without severe chips/scratches. I notice a few other guys on here are looking for this surround; I am actually after the dual-DIN climate control/LCD one though which I think is not as highly sought after (as most guys seem to be throwing out their LCDs so they can put in 'fully sik' headunits)? Please PM me! Regards, DaveB
  24. Good point.
