  1. bump! still for sale!
  2. i would have to agree, but better yet, put the whole $1000 into a more worthwhile investment. once your wife demands use for the back seat you will have to change cars anyways so think ahead and save up for a more practicle family car!
  3. for the above post i.e the one before the above now, you tune the jaycar gear yourself - sydneykid has a good topic on this. if not, the kit comes with a great manual on how to tune it yourself. as for the boost controller question - you should only go as high as your turbo can handle.
  4. i have a justjap stealth kit that uses stock piping and imitates the ARC type. if you can search and find my post you will see how i did. honestly, for an extra hundred dollars i would highly advise to get the greddy (but i believe the justjap kits are now similar in price give or take a few dollars). im not sure how much blitz are now a days but they use stock piping as well and have a wider core than the ARC's. in saying so, save more and you can boast and make others blush by buying the ARC fmic. like the guys above - buy your kit from a proper shop. the "made in china" kits will cause alot of propblems (from what i have seen and heard, welds have snapped under load due to poor craftmanship). what i mean is the weld joins at the core rattle apart. other kits works just as well as any other you can buy for a decent price that are manufactured to a good standard. the real question(s) is/are: do you want to drill extra holes for the return piping? if no, then get the blitz or ARC. if yes, then greddy. do you want to take off a bit of your thermal fan? in my opinion, doesn't do anything to the thermal fans function if you chop it to fit the thicker cores. do you want to drill an extra mounting hole on the bonnet latch? the justjap kits sit too high in my opinion if you see the pictures in one of my posts. if i were to lower it then it would look just like the blitz kits. so if you do not mind the extra work then get the justjap. if you do mind then again, get the blitz. do you want a quality fmic? ofcourse you would, then buy a bloody reputable fmic! they are all simillar in price! buy one from a brand that has been around in japan for generations and know their stuff about performance cars! i know you only asked whether to buy a greddy or hybrid so i would say - greddy hands down. but save that little bit more and get either the blitz or ARC. you will not regret it.
  5. pms replied! still sitting in garage waiting for a home!
  6. stock bov forever! ... after an expensive lesson (thankyou so much officer - fag) with my atmo bov. the sound sure is nice but aint worth the fine for having one. you drive a skyline. people do not need to hear you because they will always see you a mile away its like they have a spider sense for skylines!
  7. ofcourse, because a boost controller will let you achieve your desired boost level when ever you want and will hold it at that level throughout your rev range. if you did not have a boost controller (i will use stock ecu and stock solenoid) then your boost graph (once you get a dyno) will be wavy say - it goes up to 10psi, then slowly dips off to say 8psi and goes back up n down. with a boost controller you should get a much flatter line so it will read 10psi and maybe up and down a little by say 0.3psi. stock ecu builds up your boost slower to achieve a more fuel efficient drive i.e normal driving between 2k rpm and 4k rpm and will have a low boost setting say 7psi for that little bit of extra kick say when you accelerating out of a corner or up a hill. when you flat foot your car, the stock ecu knows you want more power at higher revs and boosts your car up to 10psi (i believe by grounding your solenoid to open up the actuator i could be wrong i do not quite remember). hope that helps. at the end of the day - get a boost controller.
  8. should be no different if you buy a decent BC and tune it the same way the previous owner had it. most boost controllers only hold boost, alter the maximum boost you want, and the duty cycle (which is what you want to control when your boost comes on). point is, if you buy a good boost controller then you should have the same performance when set up right.
  9. batmbl sells a good front/dump pipe, i actually have one that i bought from jeffworld2 (great guy by the way) and its still waiting in the garage ready to be put in but i am waiting for the hi flo cat to be restocked. BUT, since you have a hks catback........ fork out the insane amount of money and buy their dump and front to match the rest of your exhaust! but any cat will fit to your cat back as long as you get the same (maybe a little bit bigger) out diameter. your dump fits from your turbo to the cat and the cat sits in between your dump and your cat back. go with a full 3" exhaust, or ever 3" to the cat and 3.5" out, or even 3.5" all the way. my friend has put in a 4" exhaust and the minimal back pressure is just awesome on it but again, if you want to fork out that much money then go ahead.
  10. if i am on the right track that you mean the bracket on top of the core, then it actually uses the existing bolt right under your latch to open the hood. also, if your core is a similar design to mine, you will also have two brackets on the bottom of the core which i did not use as they did not reach my body even with the extra brackets they gave. never done an r34 so maybe they have provisions for it or some other model car may. your fmic will not bend under high winds due to the lack of support at the bottom of your core as it should be sitting snuggly behind your intrusion bar which will prevent it from tilting and if you have guessed, ultimately breaking the bracket on top of the core.
  11. unless you want quick quarter mile times i would skip on the flywheel upgrade to a fmic first and please spend the extra cash on a branded kit, then a boost controller (again do not go cheap), safc 2 then a tune! that is, going with the list you want to get.
  12. haha it is not the angle of the picture, it sits quite high as i have installed many other fmic(s) on other cars and they sit very low and again the kits i have fitted were pricey ones. to lower the core i would have to drill an extra hole down the bar but i am a little worried the pipes may not reach my stock piping if i do so but maybe i will try again over the weekend.
  13. i DID have the r34 smic installed but i wanted more power than the smic is rated at. to be honest with u guys, i would recommend that other people who are thinking of getting one to really save up that little bit extra for a product that fits easy with no fuss. reason i didn't was because i am tight on money and to save up for a decent kit will take me months haha (i blame my girlfriends collection of tiffany jewellery!). as for the height - i COULD make a new hole down the bar a little and it would have sitted alot lower making it look like the blitz kits BUT i am not TOO sure if i should be drilling new holes. plus, i just thought of it, but the pipes may not reach up to the stock pipe work anyways.
  14. black warrior has done a great diy tutorial on this already. search his name up in the diy section and you should find it.
  15. hey guys! just an update, i ended up cheating after all because i did not like the look of the mesh - too much attention in my opinion as i like to keep my car as stock looking as possible. i ended up fitting in the stock lights with some very minor modifications to the assembly. here is just the one picture of the whole thing and i apologise for the poor quality. if anyone wants to see the actual modifications up close just post here and when i am free i will take pictures so you can see up close what i did. i did not take pictures of the grill because i was not going to keep that look. as you can see, most of the fmic hides under the front bar which in a way gets less wind but since its winter i do not think its a problem thus far although since the fmic is rather wide it may make up for that loss in height. i will have to wait for summer and see how it handles. other fmic(s) i have installed uses the bottom pipe area for extra height for the core (hence why the bend usually goes under the fog light + indicator assembly). i thought about it today and looked at black warriors tutorial (which was a big help by the way) and noticed that since his core was actually shorter in width than mine, the bend that gave me trouble actually bends earlier to hug the corner straight under the head light. the cooling pro actually bends later or else the piping diameter is comprimised! just thought some people would appreciate an answer to why as i hate not knowing why haha.
  16. hey guys! just purchased myself a cooling pro stealth fmic (600x240x60) and have just installed it today after a few hours. the only hacking i needed to do was a little bit of the intrusion bar to hug around the corners of the fmic and the hacking of a support bracket on the bottom pipe (would not give me that little extra room to line it up with the stock piping no matter how hard i huffed and puffed). my warning is mainly for series 2 owners - the first bend of the top pipe prevents your front bar (that is, if you have stock) to go on properly due to the fog light and the housing on the left side (looking at the front of the car). i thought i could hack the housing on an angle but realised it was also the rear of the fog light that actually hit the bend as well and thus i could not line up the right side (looking at the front of the car) of the bumper. hacking the housing that was built into the bar is one thing, but hacking the actual housing for the fog light is another. after an hour sitting in my thinking chair, i decided to remove the stock fog lights + indicator assembly and hack off the housing built into the bar itself to allow room for that damn bend! now i had the problem of an ugly space where the fog lights + indicator assembly should be, so what i did was pop down to autobarn and bought myself a grill mesh and then bought gtr look-a-like indicators and fog lights. what i did was fill up that gap for the assembly with the grill and just cut out holes to fit in the new indicator and fog light. i left the bottom half as stock so basically, rather then having the fog light + indicator assembly, i now have a grill with a fog light and indicator - pretty much a 400R front bar imitation. just a note - most or some other fmic piping actually go UNDER the fog light + indicator assembly. just weird when i encountered this problem. had me scratching my head for hours taking apart random things and putting them back in thinking i alligned something off. APART from that debacle, no problems thus far. im quite happy with the fmic. its definitely living up to its stealth because the bottom pipe hides directly behind the bottom section of the front bar and the core itself is actually hiding behind my plates. only noticable if you look hard enough. i get no turbo lag since the pipes use the existing stock pipes so you get the shortest cooling route possible. i have installed 3 other types of fmic(s) and after a test drive the boost does take longer to pick up speed. with this setup, it spools maybe a little faster if not the same. bottom end rpms have alot more pick up (a little but noticable). i can only assume, but this kit was really meant for the series 1 owners since their bar has more room behind it but anyone with an aftermarket front bar should have no problems. hope this helps some of you s2 owners thinking of getting one of these.
  17. spotted a black 33 on the camden valley by pass, did not realise you waved until it was too late............... that is.......... i THINK you waved
  18. haha poor guy.. must be in denial at least i admit im whipped.. im going to marry this girl ONE day!
  19. haha same sh*t different women????? oh.. she is calling now *runs off*
  20. I think I know this purple ss in this area although he pulled me over on blaxland rd and get this, just turning out of the woolworths petrol station. What was my crime? Maybe putting in vortex instead of ultimate, but they had none left! At least he was sort of nice and just fined me for the air pod although he was quite funny - "they do not add extra power".
  21. thumbs up for the car. very nice work done!
  22. i dooooooooooo help!! its never enough!! always want more!! MORE!!
