Thinking Of Buying A Porsche Boxster
WTF-33R replied to Smurf's topic in General Automotive Discussion
We were in a Position no stability control could ever recover. The Cayenne range have excellent grip, and handling but wet roads, mud and road tyres didnt help. Had I been in any other car - I would have been dead. Power isnt everything its how you use it. The Turbo S only came out a few months back. (E49 Series M5 and 986 Boxster were the current models at the time of the Cayennes release. -

I can vouch for the quality of the Cayenne. I was sitting in the Passenger seat when the driver of the car had to swerve into mud on a wet road to avoid hitting a car and ended up collecting the armco. I walked out of that with no injuries -

Have you ever driven a Cayenne or Cayenne Turbo? I'm guessing you havent. I can safely say they a the best handling and best performing SUV on the market. Most of my workmates would choose a cayenne over one of the sports cars. For a big car they handle, they ride and you can take the family! A car that can truely be labelled "Sports Utility Vehicle. Unfortunately (or fortunately I can attest to the Cayenne's saftey after one I was in left in a sticky situation, which had the car ending up in a mud pit sliding sideways into an armco. If it had been any other car I wouldnt be here right now. Smurf: It sound like your intentions are right. Don't listen to these knockers. DO IT. You wont regret it. if its a drivers car you want this is the car, LOOK NO FUTHER. Just get a 2.7 though if you cant stretch the 3.2 Boxster S, you wont regret it. I walked away from that with only glass on me and scratches on my hand. (i was sitting in the front passengers seat. -

yes i do see where you are coming from. I hope he has a wide wallet, porsches are much cheaper to maintain than the fez. GT2 arent awd they are RWD however u can get the X50 upgrade to a turbo and have GT2 power with awd traction and stability. For some the power isnt important, its the driving experience and the engineering that goes into the porsche. FYI: Porsche isnt a car company, they are an engineering company - the cars are a by-product of their engineering -

Ignorant comments like that really get me and my workmates, have u even driven any stock 993, 996 or 997 Porsche? I can comfortably say I have driven the range from boxster 2.5 to GT3 RS, 996 Turbos and the 997 range and they are all brilliant cars. 280kw from a 3.8 naturally aspirated flat 6 isnt anything to sneeze at. sure it'd be fun to own a GT2, its got the power the looks the handling, but i have seen so many down at the panel shop getting repaired for the 3rd or 4th time because the power got the better of the driver on the road. All you guys should know buy now its not the figure that the dyno spits out that matters, its the tune that does. sure Porsche dont make the figures of Jap cars, but its the torque tune that makes them special, all th modified porsches ive had experience with have all been buckets and the stock cars handled and accelerated much better. /rant Did you all know that despite how quick porsches are they still meet LEV requirements for california? -
Hey all, who has pulled a door trim off a R33 4 door, just need a quick guide as i dont want to break anything. cheers, Sam

Im new to the skyline and Import and performance scene, so im not sure what parts prices are like for them, when i talk jap cars i think Corollas and Pulsars but off the top of my head its more: a set of brake pads is about $350 a clutch kit is about $1000 and if u need a flywheel its $1800ish. like all euro cars u need to change rotors every 2nd -3rd pad change (cant rememeber the price off the top of my head.) but dont let it detract you from the driving experience. as i said before they are a brilliant drive and i would own one myself, but go for a 2.7 if not a 3.2 -
My car was the silvery grey S2 GTST 4 door parked between you and the other coupe for a few minues, nice car love the rims, im thinking about getting the same ones on my car. Love dished rims

I work for a porsche dealer in syd, and ive learnt a thing or 3 about boxsters. Great car, very reliable, a little on the costly side to repair, but an awesome driving experience. Try and stretch for a 2.7 the extra 0.2 displacement really helps, slightly better interior as well. Things to check: Oil Leaks - Common areas are Rear main seal, Cam covers and Variocam solenoid seal. Smoke on start up- while a small amount is normal, excess smoke may be due to a oil seperator failure. Go for a car with Low kms and full service history (from a Porsche Dealer or specialist), or a car with a replaced motor, ive seen engines replaced at around 100000kms, but there again theres a 2.5 we service thats done 180000 and all thats majorly failed is the auto gearbox at 120k. Porsche Dealer or specialist service is recommeded. It might be dearer but they know what they are doing. to all those who say Lotus elise please let me remind you what it stands for: Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious. The Rover K-Series motors are proned to blown headgaskets or shifted liners in the block ($7000 a pop) and to correct bubba 930 was the model code specifically for the 911 turbo. Anything before the 964 series was a 911. If u wanna kmow more send me a PM. -
Today i spotted 2 skylines parked outside villawood autobarn one S1 R33 coupe in gun metal grey with 19's and a S2 R33 Coupe in dark grey pearl (same colour as my sedan) with GTR spoiler. Both looked tops.

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them

Same here. havent got any wet driving experience yet (only had the car 4 days) but i can report that in the dry these hold on beautifully considering they have aged a bit and have gone hard from sitting around the docks and compliance workshop. would have loved to try these new
