I dont see someone asking about an R34 GT-T and then someone saying how they are glad they didnt buy thier grandmas R30 wagon because it smelt of mothballs, so lets keep the discussion on the cars harumomo is interested in I own an 03 DC5 luxury model. I'm pretty fussy when it comes to cars and personally, I dont like it... however everything is very modern and ergonomic. Fuel economy is excellent. I get around 7 to 8 l/100km For what it is, is feels very refined. It's nice and easy to drive, and as slow as it is its.. it is still entertaining to wind out. great hatch space, very practical.. horrific turning circle (truely horrific). If it were my 30K and I was doing it again, I'd buy an S15. I'm still young and I need something alot more hardcore (yet modern) to get my jollies from. The integra doesnt cut it. Drive it and see for yourself

The Best Personal Number Plate you have seen?
Corse replied to Xeaon's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Best plates: "TOILET" (hahaha) on a Honda Jazz, in white, riced up with a carbon bonnet and stickers. Around the Glen Waverley area "NERD" (haha) (on what appeared to be an R33 GT-R - at night and I was a little intoxicated) Spotted in the city (melbourne) I want to get something on my Type R like "JAP CRAP". -
I've was offered a set of MINE'S AFM's and I'm wondering the same thing. Surely there has to be a powergain by going 85mm as there is a very large difference in cross sectional area.

are you reffering to the guy who ripped off WISE SPORTS' GT500 kit? Get it from those who made it www.wisesports.co.jp click on Wise Sports, then Skyline, then GT500.
-
Also, other vehicles such as a tuned Maranello and a standard Gallardo would probably like to attend. Would give you guys a good baseline to work against
-
I know of a few cars that would be interested , but they are not skylines (tuned mercedes limos). Would this be acceptable?

Bentley Continental GTs...
Corse replied to CerealKiller's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
My old man went shopping for a conti GT... they are ****ing cheap at around $280k from memory (note, an Arnage T is around $600k). They are majorly pimpin... but handle like a fridge on a cloud of air and they aint that quick at all. I'd guess a low 13 1/4 mile. Too slow for his liking, so he picked up a cheaper, and a helluvalot faster AMG E55 -

What do we call a bunch a skylines
Corse replied to Abo Bob's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I think youre all the biggest collection of corny wankers I've seen, how old are all of you? 12? Dont let me stop you though. The memorable ones for me are: A Platoon of skylines A Ronin of skylines A raven of skylines Dynasty of Skylines (hahaha) Xen of skylines (hahah) Regiment of skylines Brotherhood (hahaha) Fellowship of Skylines Ring of skylines Corps (haha) Infrastructure bye-lines (need to be unique!) A Western of skylines Maybe my suggestions on the outright most stupid name can assist you in choosing the right one? -
The 60 foot time is indicative of a slipping clutch, and the trap speed is indicative of big power. This is just a very unsorted car that happens to make alot of power. It has the potential. 50-60% drivetrain loss is quite far from the truth. realistically, 35% would be quite 'high'-ish. I have seen evidence that suggests the the 4WD system in GTR's only lose about 2% more than an equivelant RWD. Instead of the power being transmitted through the chunky rear driveshafts and diff, it goes through the transfer case and smaller front diff and lighter driveshafts, so it shouldent be losing much more power at all. I think that you have quite a sexy car on your hands, and I beleive your car has the potential. don't take any skepticism too harshly as this IS an internet forum, and it's wise to beleive half of what you see and none of what you hear (or read, in this case). As meshmesh said, I think drivetrain loss is irrelevant (unless youre calculating fuel, compressor flow or how long a peice of the drivetrain will last etc.) Its the amount of power that gets to the ground that counts.

"even at summernats" I didnt know a show n shine was the be all and end all of cars? EVEN at summernats? because the summernats are predominantly a skyline event or something? How many skylines actually competed to get into the Top ten , or top 60, versus say... 'Street Machines' Guys he's right. Skylines are heaps of shit because they failed to win a show n shine. Hey streetmachiner, can i ask a quick question? how many hot rods won god of autosalon (egosalon)? rods must be heaps of shit ey!?

Hey guys. As far as im aware, the R33 GTS-T box is essentially the same as the GTR box. Now an R32 GTS-4 gearbox will shit itself with the planned power output, and R33 GTS-T boxes seem to be relativley cheap. Am I able to mate up an R33 GTS-T gearbox with an R32 GTS4 transfer case, to give me a poverty pack GTR box that will handle approx 320rwkw? Eventually (long time from now) I hope to be making enough power to destroy GTR boxes as well. Are there any other options other than a replacement gearset for under 10,000 ? Thanks.

Speeding teen kills- (in a skyline)
Corse replied to dale's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
It takes two to tango, and both the driver and the pedestrian were breaking the law, the only difference is that the pedestrian came off second best. If I was travelling at the speed limit and a man walked out onto the road in a manner that I was unable to stop, and I run him over in a fasion that killed him, I would have to live the rest of my life with the burden that would be made up of memories, knowing that a man died at my hands, etc.. the mental trauma is not something you I could put into words. Why does nobody fail to recognise that he broke the law and this was the result of a choice he made? Because he is dead and they want to tip toe around him for 'respect' ? He's DEAD. he doesnt care about youre respect anymore, if he did he wouldent deserve it. What about his mates? They all have to suffer having a freind die. What about his ****ing family? his mum, who no longer has a son? his kids who no longer have a dad to look up to? what about his wife who now has to take care of the kids and work at the same time to support the family? finances and debt that she can no longer afford to pay? He didnt give enough of a shit to care about any of that. In melbourne, pedestrians continue to suprise me and push the boundaries of what i thought was normal for a dickhead pedestrian. I see them walk across a road without looking AT ALL. a ****ing 5 year old knows better, Stop, look left, look right, look left again. was that so ****ing hard? The ones that do see you may just walk anyway! I was driving along in a 60km/h zone, where there is a a bridge, and directly next to the bridge on either side, there is a park with a path, so this is the spot where the people who travel along the path cross the road (which is quite regular). There are no markings, or signs at all. A freind was driving late at night, and saw two people dressed in sprint shorts, a singlet and a number on the front and back run across the road, and continued. Then out the corner of his eye he sees two people stop at the edge of the road, and he continues. Then one of them runs out directly infront of his car without looking. He hit him at about 55km/h, breaking his legs, collar bone, wrist etc. he called an ambo and waited, while someone else called the cops. This guy was a competitor in some event that they were running and had many freinds present, none of which saw the incident. Many of them abused him verbally with one of them pushing him up against his car and threatning him, -
no no.. this is like a 40 year old japanese businessman, that nomura pulls off the street and teaches to drift (unsucessfully).

Power FC D-Jetro? How Hard to tune?
Corse replied to underground's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I would use a standard or Pro PFC with upgraded AFM's with the 6 throttle setup intact, as removing these as you probably already know sacrifice fuel economy, but more importantly off-boost drivability and throttle response. you have already decided to take the first step in degrading your throttle response and drivabilty by using the D-Jetro, so you may as well convert to a single throttle body as well. The 6 throttle setup is known to make tuning tricky, as the standard throttle body causes some kind of inlet pulsation which the MAP sensor picks up as rapidly fluctuating air flow - This is why most tuners have trouble tuning this setup, however it is very possible, to tune using this setup as it has been done many times before. At low RPM/airflow levels/load, tune using the TPS versus RPM with the MAP disabled. On boost, at higher RPM, the pulsations will start to diminish and this is where you use the MAP sensor for tuning inputs. As i have no experience tuning the D-Jetro, i do not know if the D-Jetro is able to do this, but this is apparently the solution. Hope everything works out edit: this information is mostly second hand and could be incorrect. this is an internet forum, so i hope i dont need to tell you to check the facts first -
favourite stock colour for the r32gtr
Corse replied to junkie13's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Red, (as in a proper red) IMO, looks shit on almost any-non italian car. Burgandy looks good on a few cars, and the R32 is one of them. But black is the toughest, meanest, most classy looking colour and suits ALL skylines, perfectly. Blue comes in a close second, whether its the light Bayside blue of the R34, dark Marine blue of the R33, blue suits any modern skyline from R32 to R34. -
What are your thoughts on this spoiler...
Corse replied to Skip2myLou's topic in General Automotive Discussion
bwahaha!!! no, seriously, dont listen to me. I laugh at just about every picnic bench i see on a car, so its nothing unusual. If you think it looks good, go for it. (hahaha) -
is the drift bible the one where they take and teach some middle aged jap guy in the silver blitz R34? if so, ive got it, and its shit. if not, i must have a look at it

Why Do You Like Skylines? Their Best Qualitys
Corse replied to OKBANANA's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Personally I dont like the R33 GTS-T. Not one bit. The R32 GTS-T looks that whole lot angrier, while sporting alot of character. My favourite, is of course, the GTR. I'm a big power person. No other car can put down the amount of power a GTR can on the street. the WRX/Evo/GTO bridage just cant make power the the GTR can, and the cars that can make the same power, like JZA80 Supras, cant get that power down and are useless on the street. -
Hey, Soon I'll going to be purchasing (hopefully) an R34, a non-gtr variant and drive around in this for 6-12 months or so. Being on my P's this could prove to be a half-intelligent idea. this is where im not so worried about the money. while this is all happening, I intend to build/prepare another motor with an emphasis on torque and streeablity - something In its final guise can drive around on the street with the boost wound down, and when needed, bolt a set of slicks on and run a high ten. (kind of similar to the HPI project r34 gt-t) With this in mind, I feel the RB30 block is a good idea. Although it is weaker than the RB26 block, I dont think i will need to go to those kind of extremes for strength with the levels of power i am aiming for (~600hp) and combined with a ~1.5mm overbore & relativley high compression ratio, i should end up with a ~3.2litre motor that wont perform like a total dog off boost. However, seeing as a complete RB26 sells on average for around $6,000, this would also be a good base for the power levels I am aiming for, as not much additional cost is required. An RB30 bottom end with an RB25DE NEO head would still require alot of pipework (plenum, turbo manifolds) a set of turbos, an intercooler, etc. where a complete RB26 would have alot more misc. things supplied, and internally stock can make some very nice power levels (GTR-700 is probably the best example) Transmission and clutch is not so much of an issue One of the reasons i dont want to continually modify the standard motor is that i want something that runs and lives in my garage, not at a workshop, as 500+ odd horsepower will be enough trouble as it is. R32/R33/R34 GTR's are out of the question (my parents are helping me purchase the car but will not if it is a GTR) What I am after is some suggestions as to what would keep my wallet happy and quench my thirst for big power and fast drag times & be able to drive it on the street, all while doing it all in style. A big ask, but I want to get as close to it as i can. Thanks in advance

GTR street Drag record smashed again!
Corse replied to Munro's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Mario, please tell me youre crazy enough to put two T51R's on GTR-700....please.... Oh, and in terms of 60' times, isnt GTR-700's best something like 1.38? Even with the huge mph, 3LITRE isn't doing too badly with more weight & radial tyres, etc. when you think about it. -
GTR street Drag record smashed again!
Corse replied to Munro's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hey John, seeing as your looking at replacements, ask VeilSide if they can make you a set of their GT3540's The 3 Litre would do a good job of spooling them up
