  1. Pics of LMGT4s fitted with Bridgestone RE010R 265/35 R18 tyres. The Bridgestones are way better than the Hankooks. I ended up selling the TE37s to another forum member before I had a chance to even trial fit them. Deep down, I regret selling those TE37s; I would still really like to own a set of 19" TE37s but 10.5" in width and with a more aggressive offset..... I agree that the TE37s, LMGT4s and Ce28Ns suit the GTR to perfection!
  2. Thanks for compliments everyone. But did someone mention wheels? Self confession - I am a wheel whore The gunmetal Nismo LMGT4s are limited edition 2005 model with centre cap to replicate GT series GTR. More goodies to come....
  3. Modifying a GTR is like an addiction, and in my case I was becoming a junkie! Before long, I was at it again. I will let the pictures below tell the story.... The inspiration was the Z Tune. The modifications were obvious to the astute observer, however, here is the list below: Nismo R Tune carbon bonnet Nismo Z Tune front guards and front bumper Nismo Air intake piping and air duct Nismo Z Tune intercooler Nismo side skirt and rear spats Nismo GT urethane gear knob Nismo MFD II Superior carbon dash cover All Nismo items were genuine, therefore they were no issues with fitment and finish. A Power FC retune yielded a slight increase in maximum power output, possibly due to larger intercooler: I will keep this thread alive by updating periodically
  4. Hi, Certainly sounds strange that the turbos are not boosting up sooner. In my R34 GTR, these turbos would be spooling up around 3k to 3.5k rpms and pretty on full boost by 4k rpms. I doubt that its the turbos' fault as they were running fine before they were dismantled from my engine. Hope you get it sorted out. Pm me if you have any concerns re turbos etc. Cheers
  5. I agree with you, DRD-00F. Its amazing how quickly you can get accustomed to 300rwKw. There is no such thing as enough POWER!
  6. Pm sent re cost of Racepace exhaust setup. BTW mine (as pic above) is for sale!
  7. Picture of Racepace stage one exhaust as requested. This may look like any garden variety aftermarket exhaust, but there are lots of hidden sneaky tricks to make the turbos spool hard and fast. This exhaust gives superb high flow without the drone or high decibel common with the JDM varieties. The noise is cool at first, but after a while it gets annoying or until you get defected! Believe me, I have been there and done that with previous rides. JDM exhausts are undoubtedly well fabricated and aesthetically superior in term of tip design, bore size and fancy burnt titanium finishes, but the rule of thumb is that a high flowing JDM exhaust is invariably noisy and a quiet JDM exhaust is invariably restrictive. That is the reason why Racepace decided to carry out their own R&D and designed their stage one exhaust to address this issue of flow vs noise emission.
  8. Frankly the R34 GTR in stock trim is disappointing, even in NUR spec with N1 turbos. The boost is far too conservative to bring the best out of the RB engine. The ride height is too high and gives the car an awkward stance. The wheels are too inset and tyres are too skinny to fill those lovely wide arches. Plans were soon set in motion to improve on these shortcomings: Performance: Racepace Stage ONE modifications were chosen, consisting of: Apexi Power FC tuned by the maestro - Ben Racepace adjustable Cam gears Racepace spec Exedy heavy duty clutch Racepace custom 3.5" exhaust and front pipe HKS strengthened actuators K&N high flow panel filter in stock air box This combo yielded just over 315rwKw safely with stock engine internals; injectors; cams and fuel pump. Just a note of interest - I found choosing the 'right' exhaust the most difficult, simply because there are so many choices available. I seriously considered two other JDM options before settling down for the Racepace one, they were: Mines Silence Vx Pro Titan II Nismo Weldina NE-1 - twin front pipe with twin high flow catalytic converters and NE-1 logo laser etched on the gorgeous 115mm single SS outlet. You see how lovingly I am describing this exhaust - I liked it so much that I actually BOUGHT one as well from Yahoo Japan since they were of of production. I can feel you guys are giving me the 'don't BS me' kind of look, well check out the pics: HOWEVER, I never ended up fitting the exhaust, because Ben said very bluntly that I would instantly lose at least 30rwKw. Why was he so certain? Because he has played around with all the major JDM exhaust. So, I sold it to a US buyer on this forum and never recovered the original purchase price. The lesson learnt - never buy anything unless Ben is consulted! Suspension: Street orientated Nismo S Tune coilovers; Spring rate: Fr 6.7/ Rr 6.0 Lower stance: Fr -30/ Rr -20 You can just catch a glimpse of the front external oil reservoir Wheels & Tyres: Rays CE28N 19"X10.5" +22 in gunmetal grey Hankook Ventus K107 275/30R19 How she looked: Front suspension is raised due to uneven ground Racepace exhaust looks stock from the rear and sounds quiet, therefore no hassles from the traffic coppers. Yet its very high flow! Racepace sticker on the rear windscreen gives an extra 5rwKw Stay tuned as the evolution continues......
  9. For sale: Stage 1 Racepace upgrade parts: Racepace custom 3.5 inch exhaust; front pipes and dummy catalytic converter. Why is Racepace exhaust so good you may ask? Well its quiet, high flow, looks stock, Racepace engineered and Aussie made! This is enough to support over 330rwKw (stock NUR spec Rb26 with N1 turbos). No droning and does not attract attention from the coppers! Very good condition; Asking $1200 Racepace spec Exedy based heavy duty clutch: Used for less than 7000kms. Almost brand new. Includes everything you see in the pics above. Asking $750 Stock NUR parts: RB26 injectors X6, almost brand new, used less than 15,000kms - asking $300 AFMs from NUR engine - asking $280 All parts located at Racepace, Bayswater Victoria Please pm if interested with serious offers.
  10. To all who has been following this thread. I have posted a new topic 'Racepace built R34 GTR Rb28 V Cam' in the 'Project' section of the forum. In this new topic, I have rewinded my entire GTR ownership experience back to Day One. I hope it makes for interesting read for everyone. I will update regularly as time permits.
  11. Let's start from the very beginning...... 2002 BNR34 VSpec II NUR purchased from Zele International in Japan through Powerplay Imports. It was delivered over two years ago. The car was in 5A condition; unmodified except for alarm system; and with less than 8000kms mileage. Original photos taken at the Zele dealership: I decided to pay a premium for the NUR due to its exclusivity (bragging rights); collectable potential and car value retention. At that time, there were only 2-3 known examples of NURs in Australia. My original intention was to keep it stock and original NUR spec; as you will see that idea of keeping it stock was very short lived.... In hindsight, I should have saved the extra dough and bought a VSpec II locally instead. The whole importation process proved to be way too drawn out and involved lots of little hidden costs.
  12. Thanks Ron! I originally wanted to go for a RB30, either a RIPS or OSG complete bottom end. However, Racepace convinced me to stock with 2.8L as the 3.0L bottom end requires a lot other minor mods for fitment in engine bay as the increased stroke means that the engine will sit some 35-50mm higher. The Garrett -5s certainly give good peak power. Benno would not increase peak boost over 1.5 bar, for the sake of engine safety. I am not ready to sacrifice engine durability over top end power gain. The V Cam, RB28 and Garrett -5s combo is good, but its still no Racepace Rb29 engine. The Racepace R33 GTR still walks all over my car (I know because I have driven both cars!)
  13. Tomei dumps on Garrett 2860-5.
  14. Just getting some hiccups sorted, should have car ready end of September if all goes according to plan. I will start new thread in project section soon.
  15. Hi, I shall ask Ben the exact specs of the V Cam setup, as he does not like to tell his client too much technical details. The truth is in how the car drives he says, and not what the specs are! I will post dyno graph of V Cam with Garrett-5 compared with Stock NUR with N1 turbos. I have not got a graphical comparison of V Cam on and off reading. I will try and get that comparison graph at my first 1000km service and tune. Cheers Matt
  16. Hey Marcus and 9krpm, You gotta give Benno from Racepace two thumbs up for his tuning prowess with the Power FC, technical knowledge and expert craftsmanship. The combo of HKS 2.8 Step 2; garrett 2860-5; and V Cam Step 1 Type A - Valve timing 90-120 degress, valve lift 8.6mm, duration IN 248 and ex 256 makes for a very fast and super smooth street car. The idle is much quieter and smoother than my NUR engine, probably partly due to the full counterweighted balanced crank and minimal tolerance engine fabrication. Ben encountered no problems at all with the installation and wiring of the V Cam. I believe the first one to be installed and tuned locally, independently and successfully in Australia. The V Cam behaves pretty like a piggy back module and operates independently of the Power FC, in fact the power FC receives no input signal for the V Cam at all. The V Cam controller is tucked away under the dash - out of sight. As Marcus says, the V Cam puts much more oomph in the lower rev range. Th butt dyno can certainly feel that. It makes the car feel 'lighter' off the line, and you feel less urge to rev the crap out of the engine Here's a teaser picture, more to come soon: Looking forward to more updates Marcus! Cheers Matt
  17. Thanks. A fellow forum member has already helped me to locate one. Cheers
  18. As topic describes, please pm me if you have one available.
  19. pm sent re front diff and sump. Is front diff and sump assembly from R34 GTR; as I know that the front diff ratio is different between a R34GTr and R33/R32 GTR
  20. I am in urgent need of a R34 GTR sump and front diff assembly. Please pm me if you have one for sale. Cheers Matt
  21. Hi Paul I hope that everything worked out well for you in the end. This thread caught my attention because I did a search for 'front diff'. I am after a R34 GTR front diff and sump. I was wondering if you had swapped the 34 one back to a 33, would you then have the 34 front diff and sump assembly lying about for sale? If so, I am in urgent need of a R34 GTR sump, diff assembly. Cheers Matt
  22. Hi Mark, It seems like your build is progressing smoothly. So you ditched the V Cam setup! Mine is set up and good to go - (reminder Melbourne R34 GTR, Racepace built RB28 - HKS step 2 with V Cam.) However, due to some unforeseeable misfortune, the car will be held back at the workshop for another 3 weeks. I will open new thread in project section. Cheers Matt
  23. For sale: Near new Nismo Oil cap. Rubber O ring in good condition, No visible scratches on metal. Includes original packaging. Price:$85 Cheers
  24. I believe the outlet of the N1 manifold is wider than stock and slightly smaller than the Tomei manifolds.
