Eoi: Racepace Rb28 Vcam
tangomatt replied to tangomatt's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Thanks guys! I appreciate your comments. Its a shame to let her go so soon. I will keep on looking after her until the ownership is transferred. Its officially FOR SALE for anyone who can offer OVER $95K (some simple non performance vital parts will be removed and replaced with stock at this price though) Will get service done @ Racepace regardless -
Expression of Interest for my Racepace RB28 VCam, I will say no more as my car is well documented in this forum. Refer to http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/287693-racepace-built-r34-gtr-nur-rb28-v-cam/ Asking price circa $105k I would kindly ask for some decorum on this EOI. Please no BS offers etc. PM if keen/interested now. Racepace can vouch for my car! Cheers Matt

Hi Just Jap staff, I have been wanting to buy carbon boot lid for my BNR34 for a while, but I have a few concerns/qualms about fitting a carbon trunk lid. I was wondering if you could clarify these as it would help me decide whether to take the plunge and just get one! 1, The overall fit of the carbon trunk in terms of panel gaps, alignment with rear quarter panels, OEM rear bumper; and ease of fitting OEM high mount stop light; lock barrel and latch. 2, Can OEM spoiler be mounted and if so would additional bracing needs to be custom fabricated to prevent spoiler being ripped off at high speeds? Or is the carbon trunk be strong enough to support the OEM spoiler by itself? How hard is it drill the holes for the OEM spoiler? (Can a panel shop handle such a job) 3, Is there any gurantee policy on the finish and fitment of the carbon trunk? That is what if one was ordered and the fitment ended up sub- standard? The reason for all these questions is because I imported a carbon spoiler from Japan a while back and the fitment was so poor I ended up not installing it altogether, and to date it is still sitting in my garage collecting dust! Love to hear from you abut this

Karbonetic Carbon Fibre Parts - Now In Stock!
tangomatt replied to Just Jap Racing's topic in For Sale (Business Traders)
Hi Steve, I am after carbon trunk for BNR34, but I have a few queries: 1, Can OEM rear spoiler be mounted? How difficult would the mounting holes be to drill? Would additonal bracing need to be custom made to secure spoiler to stop it being torn away at high speeds? 2, Can OEM lock latch, key barrel, high mount stop light be mounted with no additional modifications? 3, Really, would the carbon trunk fit as well as the OEM one in terms of panel gaps, alignment to rear bumper and rear quarter panels etc? Generally I find carbon trunks fit very poorly Sorry about these questions, but I am quite anal with fitment quality Cheers Matt -
I recommend the Nismo S Tunes as they are very compliant on the road to soak up the bumps and firm enough to be sufficient for a spirited drive. Spring rates I thibnk are 8K F/R I don't mean to blow my own trumpet, but I have a set in mint condition for sale for $1500. Checked and OK'd by Racepace. Pm me if interested

Geez, I am keen today, my third consecutive post. Remember a while back, I bought a set of Fabulous Expand Racing A forged rims in 19X10.5 +20 dimension from Yahoo japan through Import Monster. These may be the only photos ever documented of a set fitted on a R34 GTR. The look is quite unique, exclusive and the offset is spot on; they clear the AP calipers no problems at all. Certainly NOT the VIP look that one may expect from Fabulous wheels. These rims actually weigh less than my TE37s. I will let the photos do the talking:

Bump for 2011! I reckon these particular Fabulous wheels are 'far from' the VIP look as one would expect. From my point of view, it will look very unique on a GTR. Check out these photos taken by Newera @ Skyline Festival 2010, the offset is just about perfect and don't forget they ARE FORGED (lightweight)! I am tempted to just keep them...if only I had enough garage space..... Cheers Matt

Thanks for everyone's interest in this thread still. I believe the my car will be featured in the January 2011 Performance Import issue, at least that's what Jun Sawa (photographer). He also said that the photos thurned out amazing! He is not allowed to show anyone the photos until the magazine article release due to copyright. As for the queries: 412RwKw output on pump gas, that is 98RON, is definitely possible. Its not the top end power that is amazing, its the low end torque and response that make it fun to drive. A/F ratio might be on the 'lean' side, however, the car is tuned for street application mainly. The very occassional and brief high boost/lean exertion with street driving should not pose as any risk to engine life. If I were to track the car, Racepace has suggested detuning the engine for bigger safety margin. Regarding head work.... I am unsure. I know a fully reconditioned RB head was used for the build, but I don't know whether Beno did any sneaky tweaks to it though. If he did, he was not prepared to tell me. Trade secret I suppose and I respect that. The cams are very mild (IN 248; EX 256) and suited to the Garretts -5s. The V Cam certainly makes a world of difference. Pity I don't have direct dyno comparison on the same engine/turbo setup with and without V Cam. Sorry, I don't have a power output vs rpm dyno graph. I guess you can convert vehicle speed to engine rpm by knowing what gear the car is running when dyno was charted. Thanks everyone again for comments!

Hey mate, I just got back home after a burn. I did not see you at all?!? Otherwise I would have certainly acknowledged you, sorry

Beautiful NUR Daniel! I had been wondering when you would get hold of your dream BNR34. The mods are certainly top shelf stuff! I like those Alcons in particular and all the suspension tuning. Let's not mention the HKS 2530s. However, I wonder whether your loud exhaust and all those highly conspicuous under the bonnet mods would eventually attract the wrong police attention.... Also how the hell did The Baron get this car complied with all those mods!!!!! When I imported mine, the compliancer had to even remove the Xenons to get compliance. Had I known I would have imported a Mines car or something like that from say Global GTR from the very beginning. I am sure if if youe were to buy all those individual items that are now on your car, it would add up very easily to 50-60k in parts alone. Bargain if you paid a reasonable price for your car!! Should definitely catch up. I would love to check out your car in person. Dammit I missed the Show and Shine! Cheers Matt

Hi guys, Its been a while since an update. I finally got around to posting the pictures below of Tein RS before the installation. Yes, you are right, that is a another set of Tein RS in one of the pictures that Racepace was modifying at the time my set was being done. Eibach coils custom aluminium spring seat: I will take installed photos soon Cheers Matt

Hi all, I am totally amazed at the continued support and interest in my build. Regarding some of the queries: The gearbox is holding up well despite the extra power. I guess I do look after the gearbox by avoiding any hard launches. Second hand Tein RS still pop up every now and then on Yahoo Japan. You need to check frequently to find them and they do sell rather quickly. I sourced my set with help from Import Monster. I am looking forward to the Performance Import featuure article. However, I have received no news as to when it will be published or even seen proofs of Jun Sawa's work. They are certainly keeping me in suspense. Cheers Matt

Thanks guys.

Hey Ken, Do the wheels come from the factory with red sticker on already or do you have a choice of not having the stickers attached? I think the red sticker is 'loud'. I am interested in a set - 18X10.5 +15; that is the right offset for R34 GTR? Matt

Hi all, Just a quick update on the suspension upgrade with Racepace customised Tein RS setup. The Tein RS, aka 'Circuit Master; Super Racing Spec', has been out of production since 2006-2007. They were the top of the line in the Tein catalogue for production cars at that time. In some ways, I feel that the materials used and the way it was manufactured surpass what's commonly available today, even the premium priced shocks. Details of the RS are listed below (sourced from US based my.is forum in 2002) MATERIALS AND FACTS: DAMPING MECHANISM: 45mm diameter pistons Double shim stacks (near unlimited tunability with knowledge of shim valves) Two 'special form' adjustment needles SHOCK/RESERVOIR BODY: Monotube shock body 53mm outer diameter Aluminum alloy (A7050) seamless tube, CNC'ed, green (hard?) anodized Inner tolerances: diameter: ±5µm roughness: ±1.6µm Reservoir body interior is PTFE (Teflon) coated CNC'ed aluminum alloy eyelet, Tein rubber bushing, steel pivot SHOCK SHAFT: 14mm diameter Chromoly (SCM435) steel, Ti-N coating SHAFT SEAL/GUIDE: WRC spec PILLOWBALL MOUNT: Aluminum alloy, CNC'ed, powdercoated (gold) SPRINGS: Main and helper Steel, ground and tapered, enameled 10K front, 10K rear SPRING PERCHES: Aluminum alloy, forged and machined SETTINGS: -34mm front, -12mm rear (easier measured as 335mm both from the center of the wheel to the fender lip, front and rear) 10 clicks rebound front 10 clicks compression front 10 clicks rebound rear 13 clicks compression rear Out of the box, the RS will not suit my purpose of a street orientated setup in Australian conditions. So the solution Racepace derived is to employ a high quality, well engineered shock to begin with and customise the valving and spring rates. The current spring rates are less than half of 10K front and rear. The exact rate Racepace did not divulge and so is what they did to the revalving. BUT believe me, the setup works very very well. My initial impression, compared to the Nismo S Tunes, which is also street orientated: - The damping is comparable, soaks up bumps and road undulations well. The rebound is quicker than the S Tunes, that the RS is less 'cushy' - The car feels more planted and can hold its intended steering path despite mid corner bumps etc - At very low speeds, the RS is very compliant The only annoying thing is an annoying 'whimper' originating from the rear shocks at very minute bumps. It almost sounds like someone rubbing a wet finger on clean glassware. However, I did some research and found that this is quite common, and indicates no fault. The pillow ball mounts also transfer more road noise to the cabin. I spent a good afternoon with Chris from Racepace. And this is how I feel as a passenger..... Well Chris test drove the car in a 'hill' run. (Chris is an excellent driver btw. He scared the sh*t out of me) - The car feels like its on tracks and bumps do not upset the momentum. - Car feels planted, period! Chris comments that the RS allows him to transfer weight nicely and from the get go the setup is confidence inspiring. That is he can drive a lot quicker if I was not in the car with him. He was extremely happy with the way the RS can handle the low speed stuff equally as well as the high speed. Overall, I am very impressed, bearing in mind that the Nismo S Tunes were very good to start with. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a street car to go for less spring rate but good damping force. Final thing on the agenda - increase ride height on front end and transfer case reinforcement. PS will post pics on weekend. Cheers Matt
