  1. f**k s**t crap! this is annoying trying to do this myself. anyone free today wanna give me a hand???
  2. yea i used one of thoes plastic dummy shafts to put the clutch on. im wondering though if there is going to be an easier way to be sure the shaft and the clutch will be at the same angle and will just slide in. or will i have to pull the engine back apon failure, rotate the shaft slightly then try slide it back on. I think i might take out my power steering and air conditioning because they are really in my way
  3. haha, that commo pic is gold! oi congrats on gettin the thing going, make sure you post results of the tune!
  4. hey simon, cheers mate, a crack at it all again this morning after i wake up. i have a rostered day off so ill try and make use of it. the bonnet will shut same turbo set up was on the old motor. maybe the fact that i dont have little japanese hands no, really i just couldnt even get the clutch in front of the shaft, the engine just tries to sit on everything, everything gets in the way and i end up trying to keep 5 things clear so i can lower the engine down further etc. im going to try again this morning at about 8am. all good luke, i understand. besides you have what 6 import projects happening now? haha, you crazy bastard. cheers mate ill enjoy it when its actually in an functional and i can appreciate driving the thing a whole lot more knowing how much work i put in to it. yea shaft fits, was in neautral, clutch is aligned properly (used a shaft dummy). I dont understand what you mean about loosening the engine mounts off? the thing is dangling from a crane, doesnt everyone mount it to the gear box before they worry about the other to engine bay mounts/??? dropping the tailshaft out is easy i know, but you havent felt how tight the bolts in mine are theres 2 that are like in possible! think they need to be drilled out. and the monstor snail will be a little to hard to put on once the engine is in. ive tried taking it off the old engine before and it was no fun at all. yea it came from an auto, but i have already removed the auto spiggot and replaced it with a manual spig. cheers cheers mate, really i knew not much at all before all of this. i just threw myself in the deep end about 5 months ago and started pulling stuff to peices until i got to where i am now. i have learnt so much in such a short time and its bein a really enjoyable experience. i know if i ever had to do this again it would be 600% easier the second time. the turbo is a GT3540R
  5. yea im having all sorts of trouble with mine. first time ive ever done anything like this. and i seem to suck at it so far. when you say aligned the shaft with the clutch is there some sort of an extension tool that u can slide on the spline of the shaft an then stick the other end into the clutch? eeeergh... i just know in the morning when i wake up im going to be up for headaches. really need a second person to work the crane while ya line it up. how long was your car off the road? also it looks like you rebuilt that yourself?? i take it your a mechanic then?
  6. oh wait up did you drop it in with the gear box still in the car??? i have a gts4 with a gtr gear box so i have the same crap to go through as you just have. how long did it take ya?
  7. oh man im jelous!!! your gona have a seriously big smile on your face the first time you plant your foot in that thing! congratulations man. mine is on its way too. wont be half as good as yours though
  8. oh ur from cairns, yea u must know ian then?
  9. hey guys, had this as an on going project for ages now (R32 GTS4: RB20det to RB25det conversion), money issues have been holding me back badly. So when i had the oportunity to drop her in today, i was as excited as a dog with a shmako. Sadly though we failed. Reason being is we tried to tackle it by leaving the gear box in and trying to lower the engine in an join it up. But it was too hard to get the shaft in and line everything up. So now it looks like the gear box will be coming out which sucks because i dont know how im going to get the tail shaft off the gear box with thoes nuts being so freakin tight! Here are a couple of pics: Also have any of you here tried dropping an engine in with the gear box still in?
  10. drooooooooool
  11. just curious, are ur internals still standard?
  12. lol i wouldnt say 'reliable'. the stud doesnt even pop out the top of the nut.... it doesnt even make it half way but it will do for a temporary fix and atleast it will allow me to get as far as dropping the engine in. just for peoples information the RB30E mounts are identicle to the RB20det and RB25det mounts except for the top stud is half the length. everything else about them is the same.
  13. mine is almost ready now too (25 into my 32). thoes clear indicators look great... i want some!
  14. yea well not good enough:P i just got back from sprints and purchased some RB30E mounts for $34 for the pair the stud is a little short but i think ill just grind down the bracket a bit just enough for the stud to pop through properly.
  15. cheers guys. I just got back from nissan, i didnt expect them to be cheap but when the guy told me $110 EACH i got a little light headed. I'll go check out sprints or something now an see what they can come up with an hopefully ill get this engine in before dark
  16. hey guys, did a search but f*rk me, when u type in the words 'broken', 'engine' and 'mounts' you get alot of different search results relating to other things. ANYWAY was just about to set up an drop my 25 in my 32, when i only now just realised the engine mounts are broken. See pics below -> drivers side: passengers side: the actuall brackets from the engine to the mounting positions are fine. its just these black platicy rubbery parts of the mounts have cracked clean in half... im just about to trip off too nissan to see if they have some replacements. anyone else had this trouble before?
  17. i still say, just tell shep to **** himself!
  18. i have an elbow of a 25 turbo for sale im 90% sure its the same flange pattern as the 25 neo elbow. if someone wants to confirm?
  19. white smoke = burning oil. could be a seal in one of the turbo's has gone.
  20. i cant connect my turbo water line to the intake as the greddy doesnt have anywhere for me to connect it. on this tutorial it isnt very clear but it appears he has tapped the turbo water line into the small nipple on the heater hose connection? i assume this would be ok as the water would be the same temperature all around the block? or is there a cooler source of water i can tap into?
  21. yes this is what i suspected. If the rb25's only have one line then im sweet to block of that top one. cheers not sure which large one your talking about?
  22. nice write up. Ive used this tutorial to come as far as i have, but now i have a new problem. if you get a minute id be keen for your help, i have a post up about it here cheers
  23. dont suppose you have a rb25det harmonic balancer available??? if ya do PM me, i want it cheers
  24. thanx, i cant remember where to join the knock sensor then? also im guessing to join the heater hoses its going to be a little different than normal due to the fact its goin in a 32.
  25. shweeeet. im tuned in.
