large rims requires fitting lower profile tyres with less sidewall flex, so you might experience tyre-hop or tyre skipping on the tarmac as you launch hard, reducing traction. in drag racing optimum traction is gained if ur car can squat down enough during hard launch. some larger rims also increases unsprung weight and requires more effort from the engine to spin it, therefore can reduce your acceleration rate.

Yeah, I think by now they'd probably closed down for holiday in GC or something... from the fortune they made yesterday haha
-
Yeah, I had some fun too!!! At first I was scared the engine or turbo not gonna hold up for the whole day, but it goes through.... And I'm happy I did my sus upgraded to full whiteline kit early last year, car felt good on the track :-) On my way home till I parked in my driveway, my brake pedal feels spongier than before, I drove home gently... wonder what it was...? Or it's just my feeling. But I'd definitely considering slotted rotors and perhaps tryout different pads too.

I've mounted mine to one of the bolts holding the rear seat, passenger side. I tested it and find that I can still unclip it and reach it reasonably quick.

I believe it's 320MB, tried to d/l it but my connection keeps failing on me

Hope it's not wet on the day as I found out my Simex tyres are totally shit useless in the wet. Can't even get traction at 30-40k/h... found out embarrasingly tonight... won't be appropriate for my gts-t oversteering left and right on the track... especially when this is suppose to be a track training day, not a drift training day.
-
It just happened to me tonight, turning left then onto a slightly uphill road, the car wont get any traction at all, keep skidding the rear, tried shifting to 2nd, still doing it as slow as probably 30-40km/h very bad and embarrassing as I was holding traffic behind me them thinking I might be a stupid hoon or something. My tyres were Simex 225/50R16, I think it's not a very good tyre for the wet, might wanna go for something better, but perhaps will have to find a good 17 rims first before buying a 9000 or similar quality.

Noise limit is pretty much the same everywhere. Last HSVOC Track day @ PI also 75dB at 30m drive-by. That's I was told by one of the track officials.

This is horrible news... condolences to the deceased's family. To everyone this should be a valuable lesson, do not drag race on the street, take it to Calder or other race tracks...

anyone manage to host the 320MB Toyota version?

Vic: r33 gtst on P's?
rs73 replied to ANut's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
you're thinking is right, power figure at the wheels is not as accurate as factory spec claim (although we know that Nissan may have 'detune' factory spec claim on GTR to make it look like didn't exceed 206kw gentlemen's agreement). There's so many factor on dyno that can affect power at wheels, tyre size, ambient temp, worn clutches, etc. Each car even from the same make and model can show different figure on dyno, especially 2nd hand ones, and testing each car out there for every P-plater would be uneconomical, so just use the factory spec figure and calculate from there what is allowed/not allowed. -

rs73 replied to ANut's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Since R33 are imports, VicRoads may not have factory spec data for it, thus they may only refer to R32 GTR which were Australian delivered, with factory spec 206kw. Thus the power restriciton on GTR, but since R32/33/34 GTS-t were not officially imported by Nissan, they may not have that data and therefore those cars were not in their list. However doing the proper calculation based on factory spec, if all skylines were australian delivered then GTS-t could be included in the list (except perhaps R32 GTS-t, as the RB20DET factory spec has less power than RB25DET) -
I once quoted about $70, but I'm in VIC though thru my usual mechanic.

well my math above is correct, stock R33 GTS-t is over. Stock NA 33 GTS is not over -
Sounds good... I'm in....

B33st, Basically anything >$400 may incurr duty. So: Duty = 15% x (Cost of Item) GST = 10% x (Cost of Item + Duty + Shipping)

Check your brake, u may have uneven brake bias left and right. not sure how to fix it, talk to brake and suspension specialists. Another factor is if u have aftermarket wheels fitted with wider than stock tyres, they can cause tramlining in uneven surface like what you're experiencing. Braking hard shifts weight onto the front tyres and the effect would be heightened. Wide tyres on GTRs are known to cause tramlining effect on rough surface particularly on low speed. (You may wish to argue this but many auto journalists claimed the same findings in various magazine articles). It's a side effect of having wider tyres. They're good for cornering on circuit's smooth surface, but may not be as good on the street. If it's not your brakes pulling to one side then I perhaps its the tyres. I personally wouldnt' fit anything larger than 225 at the front due to this side effect. But again, each car is different, even tyre's tread pattern can heightened/reduce tramlining effect.

I assume u have R33? U'd probably need more castor on the front. Mine was set to Front Left 7o00 and Front right 6o30 but that's with whiteline kit, dun think the stock can be adjusted that much. Not much point adjusting rear castor as they dont have anything to do with steering much. Checkout Whiteline's recommended setting to give u an idea: http://www.whiteline.com.au/yourcar.htm

e_lu-shun, be careful of what u say on public forum. if the authority reads this, they'll track and hunt u down for tax evasion...

No. Based on my experience, there will be a delay until the number appears in the system. Some time it will be up in 2 days after it was delivered, sometimes it will be up to 5 days after. There's two website, the japanese one and our australian post one. the japanese one will be more up to date while the item just left japan, and the australian one will be more up to date once the item has arrived in australia. japanese: http://www.post.japanpost.jp/english/ems/ems.html aussiepost: http://ice.auspost.com.au/

R32 vs R33 fuel consumption (turbo)

I got 483km for almost fuel tank on my R33 GTS-t going to Phillip Island HSV Sprint Day last Sunday. 10psi, 3.5" exhaust... In the city, its between 250-350km to the 1/4 mark, 90% driven in morning/afternoon traffic crawl.. 7-8psi, silencer/restrictor on exhaust tip. -
Tried the R32 GTR Service Manual.pdf (24,094,484 bytes), downloaded ok with exact bytes shown, but won't open in Acrobat, it says: File is Damaged and could not be repaired...
