  1. Yeah, they were all great engines... now VQ30DETT that is the engine I wish to make it to production cars.... maybe on the 2007 GTR??? Hope Nissan sticks with their R35 GTR plan.... could they will release R35GTR in comemoration (spelling?) of Skyline's 50th Year Anniversary......???? was it ALSI-1 in 1957 or 1955? if 1995 means next year, otherwise it's 1957 then coincides with 2007 GTR "schedule" Finger crossed guys.......
  2. LOL... carried away? nah.. I still luv my RB too... keen to see what it will make with fmic & some more tuning for the next step....
  3. I find it funny to hear this from a 17yo... as SR & RB motors are quite a nostalgic engines from the past.. precisely around 5-10yrs ago... I would reckon most die hard RB enthusiast would be 25-35s these days, just like Mustang's V8 enthusiast are mostly mid 50s by now.... Of course I'm not saying that you can't be an SR/RB enthusiast for your age.. but since u're young and life is still full ahead of you, there are lots of current engines in your time that are great engines... SR and RB are great, but they're not the only engine in the world. E.g. the M3 engine is actually considered the best 6 cyl in the world, and Porsche's flat 6 are almost unbeatable... although they may be up in the upper market range if you want to own one. In the more "affordable" range, there's the beautiful 4G63 engines in Evo, also I'd say when Subaru brings in 2.5l version in local turbocharged wrxs/libertys/forresters, it'll be the next thing to own.... as well as the evos. I also think Nissan's latest VQ engine and RX8's new renesis are good performers at all..... Toyota's 1JZ/2JZ series has always been great (i think they're out of production too) and has better torque than RB, even considered better & more reliable than RB by some high figure tuners. The time of SR & RB engines has passed... Please let them rest in peace . We'll always know how great they were in our hearts. Let's try to embrace some of the great performance engines the market has to offer in the future. Even though I own an RB engine Nissan, I'm dun want to limit myself to idolise one type of engine....
  4. Does the Unichip has to be used with the included EBC, or will it work with other EBC such as HKS EVC/Apexi AVC-R/Greddy Profec?
  5. Well guys, not sure about you, but as much as I love my R33, the reality will struck even harder as year goes by it will: 1. in 5-10 yrs time our skylines could be the same thing/status as today's VL turbo 2. oil is predicted to run out in 50 yrs time if no new source is found 3. in 5-10 yrs time most our cars would end up either in wrecker's car yard or meticulously garaged like some owners do to their 1960-70s Mustang today... 4. in 5-10 yrs time our skyline could officially be classic car with club rego and driven on weekend only 5. parts become scarce and everybody is willing to stab everyone else just to grab hold of parts even as simple as a genuine oil cap. 6. there will be time when electro hybrid engine cars can easily run 0-100 in 3.5s and 1/4 mile in 11-12s, leaving most of our current day hipo cars like skylines/wrx/evo "obsolete..." 7. and i'd love to be there 10,20,30 yrs from now to see when it all happens, and cherish the good ol' day of turbocharged motoring fueled by greasy fossil remains & residue, while my everyday car will of course.. an electro motor equipped Toyota Prius Sportectron (with 200rwkw electro charged motor).
  6. this is very old news. As of August 2002 (2 years ago) Nissan has officially ceased producing R34 Skylines. Silvia (200sx) production has stopped too. Renault boss has taken over Nissan in Japan in an attempt to freshen up the face of the aging japanese manufacturer, this explain the 350Z and new Maxima styling. Yes those news are true. The era of Nissan sports car has long gone, now is the era of hybrid engine like Toyota Prius and Civic Hybrid. Face the bitter reality mate.... Even the R35 GTR which is rumoured to be built in 2007 may be cancelled. After all, Honda already cancelled their plan to built the next NSX, so last year's NSX-R is also the last NSX Honda will ever built. Time to get stuck with SUV.... X-Trails, Navara, CRV, RAV4.... Bye bye turbo performance... it's things of the past now. This is why I am still living in the past with my R33.

    who hit a cow?

Good thinking. Make sure the car got a sharp-edge GT wing. Drift the car's tail towards the cow & hopefully slice off some chunks of meat off the poor beast. Then drive to work with a porterhouse slowly cooking under the bonnet.... Hmm.. where's my pepper shaker....? Hope I didn't leave it at home...
  8. It is new, fresh from the factory. I actually had to wait 2 weeks for the intercooler to be fabricated as they will only make it if someone order. I think most japanese manufacturers are doing it this way with most parts like intercoolers and exhaust. Guess i will have to organise a warranty replacement with nengun as he said he'll arrange a replacement one sent as soon as he receives all documents he requires. Another 3 weeks wait... oh well.. but at least if the item is new, it may hold more value in the future... I'll keep you guys posted how it goes...

    who hit a cow?

i think i heard the radio said it happens around hampton park...
  10. cutting wire 53 is the cheapest one but not recommended for long time as it was said not good for hicas. better get a proper Apexi RSM or a trust/hks speed cut defender.
  11. i measured mine when it was off the car.. 2 1/4 inch only... not even 2.5
  12. dunno how it works, but i was told to just show them the photo and fill up the form. looks like the claim to the insurance will be done on seller's behalf in japan, not on my side.
  13. On the bright side, talked to nengun and package is fully insured - so will organise claim and insurance replacement on Monday... may be another 2-3 weeks wait coz ARC makes FMIC only when someone orders (at least 10 days to make it), but I'm not really in a hurry to put it in.
  14. I do not know where it got damaged... I ordered 2 ARC FMICs at same time. One sent to me mate, one to meself. Mate got his package almost a week before mine - no damage. I get a bad feeling about mine as 4 working days past no news. When I got it, package shows signs of box been opened and resealed. Inside all plastic packaging has been opened. Maybe this is standard procedure to prevent people inserting other substance (e.g. drugs) inside. Thus damage must be during custom inspection or during repackaging they may not put the padding in the correct position anymore. Who knows...
  15. Leak test done.... Double wrap the inlet & outlet with plastic and rubber bands and sink it into the bath tub... no air bubles leaking out....... GREAT! Taking the plastic off the inlet also reveals the inside is dry..... funny to see the FMIC swimming around the bath tub, had to hold it down to keep it from floating, which is good - means there is air inside. Guess I'll go with option D, i'll get on with it and perhaps do some repair as Sydneykid has given some tips... Cheers guys.... Case closed.
  16. Thnk's Sydneykid... very helpful... Will try to do the pressure test, what I can see under daylight (hard to see last night with a hot temper ) seems the tubes are all ok. good tips, but since it's at the back where no one will see it anyway, i will give it a pass and this is very low priority.... VERY thanks...
  17. INASNT, when they charge the duty, they opened the package then putting it back in. They must have dis-arranged the otherwise perfect padding inside the package.... I guess this really is a very bad luck for me this time Tried straightening most of the fins at the back this morning with a cooler head (the front side is literally unaffected) and after 2 hours... the final result is as pictured... I know probably have to claim insurance and get the whole package replaced, but considering: a. Another 3-4 weeks wait b. Another gamble with item being inspected and possibly damaged again by the same custom c. Although replacement will not have to pay another duty as it will be marked properly as "replacement of damage unit", GST ($20-25) may still be applicable for the shipping cost. d. The only blocked airflow is at the bottom (see pic) where I can't save the fins because they have been crumpled solid, the rest I can't see on the car, and although looks un neat, air will still flow... None of the tubes were crushed only dented at the side on 1 or 2. This means air inside tube will still flow. e. Aust Post terms & condition said I have to show the damage product and the packaging to prove it has been sent with sufficient protection. I have tear and threw the packaging and the garbage truck took it away today. I'll ponder about it today and tomorrow, if I decided to take the hassle of a,b, and c above, I'll claim on Monday (but I've thrown away the packaging and beside the huge box won't fit in my car anyway). Otherwise I'll just get on with my life with d and just put it on at an expected 95-99% condition.
  18. Thank's for the input guys. Nengun also told me that I can claim insurance if I want to, so I'll have to go to the post office and sort it out. Good service by Nengun I just wondering if the replacement will be taxed another duty and GST when it comes through the custom again. I really don't want the replacement to be sitting in the customs for another week and get damaged again.
  19. Yeah the tubes looks ok, just bent on the side but no cracks... not very happy as it's not perfect anymore on day 1 I got it.... By the way from the picture this is tube & fin construction, not bar & plate, right? Maybe a bar and plate FMIC is much stronger. I'll flow test it before i put it on so finger cross no other damage beside just the fins..... wish me luck.
  20. Will it rust if I pour water in it, cos I think i'll still need to wait for it to dry afterwards, right? I believe they're aluminium so it shouldn't rust? I tried to look at each bar and seems there is no crack. Only some outer damage to one of the bars which gets pushed in a bit but didn't see any cracks, and the bottom frame is the worst. the rest are just bent fins, straightened most of it but still looks sh1t from the rear, which I won't see anyway once on the car... seem to me the material is very soft, like you can almost bend them with your hand. ARC should have made it more sturdy...
  21. Maybe your tyre is too soft that's why the crown effect at 35psi?? what brand is it?
  22. And how am I suppose to prove it to those pr1cks? Dust it for finger prints? They will dodge it no matter what..... I hate it when this things happens..... You pay duty, you pay GST, and the part got damaged somewhere in the process and no one will assume responsibility of it. I tried to do some more work straigthening the fins, the only left one is the smashed section at the bottom... guess it will have no airflow there and get clogged with dust.... I'll just put it on as farken bloody condition it is.... CBFB anymore, just eating meself heart out trying to take it to them I'm gonna sleep now to cool it off, broke meself paying those taxes too.
  23. Guys, After a long wait the FMIC is here. It's been sitting in Customs for a week without any notice and I think it has copped damaged when they unpack and repacking the box..... Basically the front side is ok but the back side is smashed in some areas :flamed: even the bar in some areas were bent as well not very happy about it..... I have attached pics and can you tell me if this will affect performance and can this be repairable? I tried straightening out the fins using screwdrivers but seems to have make matters worst.... PArticularly the one near the bottom seems to have been smashed, have a look at that bent bottom frame.... see the circled red areas for damage..... Any idea how to fix this...? I wouldnt' mind to have this done professionally if I have to...
  24. What about performance part makers... I read this 10x and I still dont get it... LOL
  25. Apparently he falsified his birthday... the dude got a blank look when I wished him a happy birthday a few mins ago
