Hi guys... Today I went to Jim Murcott adv driving course. and I had a great time. Found out more things that can happen to you and your car in an unexpected situation. At least I know my ABS is working perfectly, and it does help to steer you out of trouble under hard braking. All braking and dodging & swerving exercises were done within 50, 60 and 65 km/h speed, but I really notice that how much harder it is for everyone (incl me) to get their cars stop or swerve in time to avoid hitting that "imaginary truck" markers, when the speed is only differ by 5km/h. We were split up to 3 groups, there's 2 nice 200SX there, a Sylvia, my R33, and the rest were like Lancers, Futura, Excel and Gemini. What amazes me is with the correct technique, a lady in her old Gemini can stop and swerve in time to avoid hazards way much better than some blokes in their Lancers. I didn't hit any cones at all for the rest of the day, although I still feel that I can perform better. I think I will be doing the 2nd level course for more challenging manouvres.

I may be visiting Tassie 3-4 days in around end of Feb.... Wonder if I will be the only R33 running around streets of Tasmania..... I hope not, I had come to contact with a few R33 owners from Tassie, but not much...

I did the conversion job as well as replacing all engine oils full service and change timing belt. Put on exhaust and replacing caster rod bushes, all up cost me less than $5K, then added GST so it's over $5K. Takes 10 days... I hope it's pretty ok price as the conversion alone should be around $3.5K already for an R33.... so $1.5K for timing belt, bushes, disc brake machining and brake pad replacements. But I think I still need to go back, as I just found out when I put my car into reverse, the reverse light didn't turn on, so there must b something they forgot to wire... At least it's still cheaper than sell then buy a manual, the cheapest changeover price I can get would be at least $8K if I do that, and that's not including timing belt replace/major service anyway...

The title speaks for itself.... I just so happy that my car is manual... after I went home, give my baby a good wash, then drive around a few times around the suburb. I still need to find a gearknob as the parts didn't come with knobs. I'm currently using my bro's original Honda Civic knob, which makes it a bit awkward since it's too high for R33. The only hint left is I still have that Power/Snow button, may need to take that off and maybe put a rocket style launcher there for dual stage boost controller. Also the sweet note of my new trust cat-back exhaust on my car is just brilliant. Not too loud, but could have a slight drone at +/- 2000rpm (cruising 60km/h @ 4th gear). But I found a solution: downshift to 3rd gear gives me more power @ +/-2500rpm and exhaust becomes quieter, no drone... The new caster rod polyurethane bushes also makes my car handles tighter, I felt safer when taking corners now. Many thank's to Gerald from ICE Performance for doing all the works on my car. NEXT month: Front pipe (currently on shipment), SAFC tune, and hi flow cat. Rianto

I just got one brand new C's quickshift for $305 delivered from a guy (Grahame King) in QLD. Free plug: www.fvej.com Grahame was very quick with delivery and the shifter was packed really well.

In fact I just gava Gerald a call this morning..... and apparently it could finish tomorrow or Thursday... they're waiting for the car back from an auto electrician to bypass the neutral safety starter (otherwise car won't start as it thinks still in gear 'D'). Anyway I can't make it on Wed, so if car is finished, I hope I can drive it home on Thursday. But Gerald still needs to replace my brake pads and suspension bushes. I dropped the car in last week's Monday evening, so considering the progress it's pretty quick!

Why not use a bucket of soapy water with a wet chamois and do it slowly... one part at a time... that's the safest way I suppose... I would prefer to do that.... just a bit slow than using a hose and spray it with water...

APEXi Super Intake .... ???? But if your friends can do the whole page that would be great! Thx mate Rianto

Does anyone knows what the K&N panel filter part no that will fit into R33 GTS-t standard airbox? Alternatively, what about IMPUL panel air filter, are they good, are they paper/oil type filter? I know K&N is oil type, will it mess up your hotwire airflow meter?

That's how I feel mash.... That's why I will do a manual conversion on my car...

well dunno about engines, but it may be right as you can buy a whole front 1/2 cut for $2500-3000 although price vary and depends on demand and availability at times when you buy or sell them... also depends on condition n milage of your engine. GTR engine still cost $6000 up I think... so you're left with $4500 changeover... with that sort of money think of what you can put in your car, upgrade your engine or turbo, fmic, etc... well its your choice... and don't forget if you put RB26DETT in your car, you need a GTR ECU as well, either you get factory from wreckers or maybe included in the engine if it comes in a package, or you get PowerFC which will set you back a further $1300-2000 depend if you get it 2nd hand or new...

clinking sound, could be some engine parts cooling down... my bro's civic also does the same, it goes clink clink clink clink clink clink sounds like a timer, I think nothing to worry about, in fact all cars I had or driven in the past made that kind of tiny clicking sound after engine turned off... the sound should be pretty faint, you can only hear it if you're near the engine bay, it it's very loud, then maybe something is wrong

So with my wobbly handling I'm not sure to go for cruise or not??? Its not only the rear end that I feel travelling on corners, but also front end travels side-to-side if I brake a little hard

Trial Side Skirts ***SOLD***
rs73 replied to akeenan's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I believe you sell it unpainted, right? Is this a genuine Trial brand or a local copy? -
Hi Greg, How did you feel when HICAS screwed up? Is it kind of getting that wobbly feeling in the rear end when cornering? I felt that too, not sure if that's also my rear suspension bushes due for replacement, or hope not, touch wood, not the HICAS please.. Rianto

ICE is pretty busy this week, I won't be able to get my front caster rod bushes done until next Monday... My corner handling is a bit crook now, you reckon it's pretty safe to go on a cruise, what are the twisties like?

Yeah, no probs. A bit correction on my own post anyway... RB20DE is R34 GT RB25DE is R34 25GTX, and RB25DET is R34 25GTT, and of course... RB26DETT = R34 GT-R !!!
-
RB20DE & RB20DET do exist, these are the engines for R32 GTS and GTS-t respectively. I am not sure if any R33 variant uses RB20 engines, but I've read in HPI Magazine that R34 variants do come in RB20DE (GT-X ??), RB25DE (GT-S ??), & RB25DET (GT-T), so there is a possibility that some R33 GTS do equipped with the less inspiring RB20DE, I would say probably the 4-door model as some sedan variant are just like commuter/shop Corollas. I would say it will make more sense that the coupe model only comes in RB25DE & RB25DET as more power is desired for sporty models.

someone told me even R33 factory plumback BOV will even hold boost application around 20psi?? so unless for showing off purpose, it's kinda wast of money to get an aftermarket BOV
-
What ECU? Stock one? What condition is it in? From manual or auto car?
-
Is there any advantages/disadvantages using push/pull type clutch or is it merely to suit which setup your car is using? What is the push/pull type clutch on each of: - R32 GT-R - R32 GTS-t - R33 GTS-t - R33 GT-R - R34 GT-t - R34 GT-R Thank's.
