A Question About Skyline V35 350gt
rs73 replied to Tom0956's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
if the car is already registered locally, half of your worries are gone. the SEVS industry is heavily regulated with RAWS can loose their license if they comply cars that aren't suppose to be complied. so once a car passed compliance, passed RWC and has rego on, it's a lot safer than buying a car from japan unseen. buying locally vs importing may save you $5-6k but you gotta ask yourself - is importing game really something you dare to risk on? remember importing is not for everyone. dealer may be a bit more expensive, but you get statutory warranty, and most dealers will include 3 year limited warranty, so there's your extra 'peace of mind', it all comes to a price. -
Is it too late? I'm still a bit worried about not being able to get underneath the car to get to the transmission 1. FoxV35 (BLUE) 2. moomoolulu (BLUE) 3. danny_tg (BLUE) 4. BLISTC (RED) 5. Need Help, My V35 Has Been Crashed
rs73 replied to Tom0956's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
have babies quick, and you can have the privilege of being able to park in wide 'parents with prams' parking bay in shopping centres! -
in the event of bad weather, is this still going on? do you see pouring rain as an opportunity or an evening spoiler?
-
Keep in mind that USDM G35 has battery on the opposite site (LHD). will this be compatible with our JDM model (RHD)?
-
looks like the list is filling up quick... looking at the photos, I wonder if my 100% stock Skyline would bring 'disgrace' to the photoshoot... seems like you guys have some sort of body kits, neon lights, or custom leather seats... I only have dealer option mud flap.

A Question About Skyline V35 350gt
rs73 replied to Tom0956's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
buying for a dealer has a plus that they will have to give you a statutory warranty for 3 months even for used car. then depending on your deal you can buy aftermarket warranty that covers up to 3 years. so in the event of a mechanical fault, you may be covered for part or whole of the cost of repair depending on what aftermarket warranty terms & condition. also a dealer must ensure the car is roadworthy and safe before they can sell it to you, so if it turns out an ex write off car like that Supra sample, you can held the dealer responsible if they are doing the dodgy thing. buying from private or importing yourself can be cheaper, you save lots of $$$ but if the car is a write off like that Supra, you will loose all your money in one night because you can't return the car to the seller. buy private or import yourself if you can take the risk of ending up with a very dodgy car. You can do a lot of research, ask for photos (harder if you import as you can only see low res pictures from japan). if buying privately you can do an inspection and see the condition of the car, but as always, buying privately is a caveat emperor (buyer beware), because as soon as you pay for the car, drive down the road and the car break down 100m later, in the eye of the law, the seller is not responsible at all. it;s your bad luck. my brother in law bought an Alfa 147 from a seemingly nice lady in NSW. car looks alright for its age & km. drive the car back to Melbourne, 600km down the highway the car break down. auto trans actuator is gone, car refuses to go into gear. seller got the money, and of course, since it is a private sale, she is not responsible. my brother in law had to pay $3500 for emergency tow service 350km away to Melbourne, $4000 for a new actuator & reprogram the auto transmission from Alfa dealer. no warranty, he is out of pocket a lot... on the other hand, I bought my V35 by importing it privately. 49000km landed, now done 57000km, so far no issues. it all depends your luck. if you're scared, pay the extra and buy from a licensed dealer. it doesn't have to be a fancy dealer with a fancy showroom. remember beauty is only skin deep. that guy down the road you mentioned with a garage full of cars could be fine and legitimate, providing he is a licensed & registered dealer. -
I might need one, because the work result done by a well known wheel place around cheltenham just peel itself off and flake off after 3 months... very unhappy with their worksmanship and basically at $180 cost they don't wanna know about it. I found that they did not use a primer before recoating, and probably didn't put a hard coat on that's why it's peeling off...

as a comparison, my wife's RAV4 & previous corolla service @ Toyota dealer cost her on average $500 per 10,000km or 6 months whichever comes first.

got my car @ 49000km from Japan. 1st service @ Nissan was $650 which includes flush tranny oil (auto) as they found the auto tranny oil is a bit burnt. they do a bunch of other usual service for a major 50,000km standard service back in Sept 08. 2nd service done 6 month later (Mar 09) at 56000km was $480 which includes replacing one of the component which I forgot what. brain dead after a long day at work. but I was told it was quite an important part. something to do with power steering or master cylinder or something. not major breakdown, but just need to be replaced for reliability purpose. All done at City Nissan, cause i could catch tram straight to/from work - easy for me. Next service due at 66000km or Sept 09, which I believe (based on my km usage) the car would probably only made 60000 by September. no idea how much it cost, but I would guess around $400 Average fuel out ot 60-65ltr fill between 450-600km, so between 10 - 13 ltr/100km depending how much 'fun' i'm having behind the wheel. mix traffic / highway driving

well since the area affected is the one not in contact, hardly any method to remove it as it is not getting 'rub' by pads to clear off the surface rust. having your car parked outside overnight or if your garage is relatively humid, it may increase the speed of the surface rust building up...

Mlb V/m35 Owners - Jun04-jun06

Sounds like Chris Rogers II That would come to time & logistics issue... the scheduled 'install days' may not suit everyone, and how much time he'll stay in each major cities ensureing as much as owner as possible can have the install done? once he's gone home to russia, how's he gonna handle further requests of people who's gonna miss out? Another solution I can think of is a network of trained 'dealers' in each city would be another solution. each dealer pays an agreed royalty, e.g. a few thousands of $$$, which includes full training on how to convert the language (perform the 'flash' update), technical support, and rights of earning money on the translation. that will get the software creator really sorted - $10grand easy, and each dealer will earn back their investment by charging people for labour/service.

sunshine? what colour?

from experience, most garage will inspect on rotor thickness & pads, and that is the one that people often miss and didn't check. worn rubber on brake & clutch pedals worn / leaking shocks modified / rusted / leaking exhaust if the seller says getting rwc checked is too hassle for him, that kind of sounding a big alarm bell. probably he's tried done it before and something's very wrong that he knows it'll be a big hassle.
-
the best failsafe method is to measure the diameter, thickness of rotors and the height of the rotors from the top of the hub hat to the bottom.

the longer they take to figure out the almost impossible prevention of getting hacked, then the less people becoming interested in this whole project... the reason why people are pirating is because a software is ridiculously priced, if they are reasonably priced, e.g. $50 or $100 then most people wouldn't bother pirating... if they want a good way, although not hack proof, do a software activation kind of thing where the purchaser must activate the software during installation by matching the name, delivery address and last 4 digits of credit cards used to purchase the disc/dvd. This way there are less likely people who would want to 'share' their information with other fellow forum members, especially if it involves entering the name & address of the purchaser as part of the activation process. This way you can keep hacking/pirating down to a minimum among forum users. that is if the programmers are selling the software through a reputable software ordering system / merchant store that accepts credit card payment. Other thing that they would have to consider since this is a very specific V35 software, it's not like a wide spread, well known software tools like Windows XP or Winzip which often gets hacked. (with key crack etc). why bother spending time hacking a software that is only useful for a handful of V35 owners? hackers are more interested in mass market software which is popular. winzip, windows, dvd rips from famous box office movies, well known singer's cd album rip, etc. have you ever search on the net for a hack of a software that is not really a famous one? do you actually realise how hard it is to find a crack for that 'niche' software cos basically very little people use it and hackers can't be bother doing the crack? look, even a well known software activation system from Microsoft can be hacked, let alone theirs, but at least by doing some kind of an activation process, they are not a "sitting duck" against pirating, as if the software is affordable, most customers just cant be bothered doing piracy, and just pay for the affordable price original softwares...
