Limp....now Waiting For Diagnostic
rs73 replied to Japav's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
so I heard City Nissan have solved your problem... care to share with the rest of us here how much it cost you and what actually went wrong? -
+1 financially strapped is one thing but downgrading yourself below the level you could ever imagine is another thing... don't do it. you'd be better off spraying the caliper in heat paint than those nasty cheap looking covers
-
probably just bulb... halogen bulb can sometimes last the lifetime of a turtle and some last the lifetime of a fly. just the luck of the draw really...
-
smear your car with dog poo/pee? that'll drive the cat away

Any One Upgraded The Brakes On Their V35 ?
rs73 replied to Dan85's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
mine is street driven and I get a set of 4 calipers off 350Z brembos from US for about $2k-2.5k delivered a while ago... more for a street look - it may not be the most cost effective upgrade considering V36 brakes are bigger than V35/350Z brembo but at least I get the bragging rights than those who put on those fake brembo plastic cover on their calipers LOL also one thing to note if you're going at bigger brakes e.g. the V36's large caliper - consider the added unsprung weight especially if you're upsizing the rim. compared to my stock floating caliper + 18" stock rims, after the 350z brembos come in + 19" rays cast wheel are in, which basically added unsprung weight, I could feel a slight difference especially mid corner bumps on a sweeping corner. You may want to consider upgrading the spring rates if you go from non-brembo to V36 big brakes + some 19 or 20 -
does anyone manage to get a local FM traffic working with GVN53? seems like nothing is supported for Aust Suna Traffic for the GVN

rs73 replied to funkymonkey's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
spotted white coupe with 1 headlight blown... and some kind of a LED strips across the parker and underneath on the bumper? IMHO it's a bit overdone - the horizontal strips.... that's not you, xscape237 / Brad? saw turning right to Mcintyre rd sunshine -
just got my renewal notice, on agreed value $30k it's $1034 a year - Rating 1 protection with $1000 excess option - JUSTCAR

don't USDM Infiniti driver side is on the opposite side. if you order US parts there will be no provision to hook up the lock actuator to your driver side lock barrel properly, because they'll give you the USA's passenger side. READ the DIY I wrote up here (it's for passenger side but for driver side you just do the mirror of that side) http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Di...ua-t315036.html contact www.japanparts.com and order the appropriate part number below. yours a coupe too? Parts - Genuine Nissan Door Lock Actuator. - V35 Coupe Left: 80501-AM81A - V35 Coupe Right: 80500-AM81A - V35 Sedan - please ask I can find out from NISSAN FAST

rs73 replied to MILLOS's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
any luck, pablo? -
even the bulbs are tricky in this car... I hope I don't ever have to touch mine
-
sounds like you've either blown a fuse at the most convenient, or at worst case, the BCM (Body Control Module), ouch!
-
electrical faults are probably due to its age. wait till the 05 just as old as the 01-02 sedans now, they'll be just as buggy....

Consult Iii Or Consult Ii For Early V35's
rs73 replied to austingtir's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
heard it's mention the JDM model uses JOBD comm protocol... -
Those LED bulbs are evil. They give off wrong voltage reading to the BCM or the ECU and the car start to think something is faulty. My bro in law had this dreaded Alfa which he changed the parker bulb to one of those LED bulb thing or something. He complaint that if he didn't start his car for a while the battery will go flat. During one night I noticed that even at power off, one of the LED bulb are still ON! basically faintly still on emiting a very faint light - now - no wonder his battery kept getting flat. Also every time he start the car, the on-board dashboard warning will give out a "Left Light Error", "Right Light Error" message, scaring off prospective buyers which made it took us more than 6 month to get rid of the car and I had to run around replacing all the LED bulbs back to normal bulb... I wish you luck with those bulbs. You better hope you didn't fried some circuit in the car because of that...! Some things are meant to be left alone in these cars, mate... they're not your average Datsun 120Y

apart from interior/dash centre console design update, and optional Bose comes with MD player not Casette anymore (although kind of useless, Sony MD format never really picks up as a mainstream media), and the Navi panel features CARWINGS, which again is useless because CARWINGS only works in Japan (like a road assist / info program) nothing else different to the early V35. Of course price is still up there as they're newer cars with on average less km travelled compared to the early ones. Oh, the engine will still be VQ35DE like the early models. Don't compare it to USA's Infiniti G35 spec because in the JDM model the 06-07 model does not get the VQ35HR engine upgrade. So if there is any dealers out there advertising their 06/07 V35 Skyline with 'updated engine or 232kw', they're either lying or have no idea what they're talking about, or the car has been modified/engine swap which basically they're not suppose to be complied.

stock turbo supposed to be spooling from 2500rpm... 4000rpm sounds a bit late. that's the downside of some modified ones where the bigger aftermarket turbo don't start spooling till later, it may give higher output but only at top end rpm for drag racing strips, but will go like an old dog on start and go traffic on the street.

Get a bumper/boot/rear windscreen sticker that says: "The closer you get, the slower I drive, so BACK OFF!"
-
r32 gts4 is the 'baby' gtr, the production got axed in r33 because it puts the r33 gts4 too close to the gtr, and so on r33 it is only given an NA engine... based on that, I'll leave it to you to judge whether you've found a rare gem or a fat pig
-
on some cases yes you can do that (including turning left from minor road onto a major road with multiple lanes). however if you're not sure the other driver might change lane or not, never assume it's safe until you're sure it's safe to do so...
-
well actually if the entry ramp ends in dotted line, cars on freeway have the right of way... the law that the front car has the right to merge only applies if it is a zip merge where usually it's indicated with a sign 'Form 1 Lane' and there is no dashed/dotted lines on either lane. however regardless of the rules, the best policy is to use common sense and do not proceed if you feel the other driver might not see you or might not know the law. never assume others know the law and never trust other driver.
