    Chipped Window!

if the chip is not bigger than 10c or 20c coin, I think people like O'Brien windscreen and glass repairer can patch it up for less than $100 Give em a call and give it a try... you can find them in yellowpages.

  4. E39... that sounds like pretty old by now... just becareful if anything wrong with it repair can be expensive... at least a Nissan that old will be cheaper to fix, but a nissan is a cheap nissan and a BMW is well, a well-known BMW... so the choice is really up to you..
  5. damn - so that's 2 being not right now - the tiny volume of GVN52 & the vac CC.... is there a way I can adjust the vac CC settings so it doesn't hunt so big? maybe we should start another thread as this is going off topic
  6. AAMI = Australian Associated Motor Insurers Limited. Justcars is underwritten by AAMI. But AAMI & JustCar is not Shannons, not the same company. I think you got a bit confused there, at www.shannons.com.au the fine print stated that it is underwritten by Australian Alliance Insurance Company Limited (AAI) - which brands their insurance products through APIA (Aust Pensioner's Insurance Agency), Shannons, and InsureMyRide (for motorbikes) - see www.aai.com.au
  7. Oh wait - DBW = Drive By Wire... I thought mine is the vacuum unit, not DBW? as I can feel the throttle grab, and when it's oscilating/hunting for the right cruise speed even on flat road... I would have thought a DBW unit would solve all those vacuum unit issues....
  8. not to rain on Chris' parade but I believe it is possible to install on manual, what you need is a clutch switch in addition to brake (to prevent engine revving to redline when clutching in). I had an old Mitsubishi Galant manual with factory CC installed. what's DBW, by the way Chris?
  9. I looked at Shannon's quoting system, it seems that grey imports is not in the system and unable to quote on the web. Is that mean the car will be insured as 'something else' e.g. a Maxima sedan or 350Z which potentially could lead to denial of payout in the event of accident as the actual car is different from what is covered?
  10. damn... well I tried driving sideways, fixed the problem but scared the hell outta my missus... I guess I just have to use the aus garmin nav screen...

    Wedding Idea's

I went to Sky High in Mt Dandenong this afternoon just for having a look around, there's a couple having a wedding there with limo... and a hired private garden for the function. you can do the similar, PLUS a few Skylines if you want or have friends that are willing to participate.
  12. I guess my answers will be most relevant to you as I am middle aged too... not sure where you are, but if in Melbourne I heard Nissan in Nunawading/Blackburn has been quite familiar with imports. I took mine to City Nissan in North Melbourne, they look like know what to do anyhow, and even though my Chassis is V35, they put my chassis as Z33 (350Z) as the engine, drivetrain, brakes and most suspension parts that needs regular servicing are the same as local 350Z items. (In exception if you buy a V35 350GT-8 sedan with 8-sp CVT auto, in which the transmission is totally different to the CVT they fitted into local Maxima and Murano) Just Car Insurance. $900-1100 a year for market cover in a considered quite high risk Melbourne suburb. I think it's not bad considering the price, as I basically paid around the same when I had my R33 Gtst with only 1/3 to 1/2 the value of current V35 NOTE This is for over 30yo Rating 1 driver with pretty much spotless driving history. If you have bad driving history (fines, conviction, etc) or younger than 30 (but you're middle age so age is not a problem) then expect the figure to jump a lot than that. most JDM don't need CC because the nature of the traffic in Japan (traffic jam!) are not worth to fork the extra $ for cruise control. You can either contact Chris Rogers (that's his ID) here in the forum to get you hooked up with some cruise control system with factory CC buttons, or just get your local CC to fit a custom one, some came with indicator stalk-type control so it will look kind of OEM anyhow... you're welcome It is...

  16. Ok I was driving out tonight and the compass works BUT it was off by 90 degree... For example if I am facing South, it will point West, if I am facing east, it wlil point South.... How do I fix this... anyone know if there is a 'sensor' box under the dash that I can perhaps turn sideways 90 degree to fix it?
  17. Quick update to Group Buy #45 order list: - scandyflick (payment cleared) - heller44 (payment cleared) - tx3_90 (payment cleared)
  18. Well I'm in Melb and it didn't work properly... I read about if northern hemisphere compass is used in the south, it needs to be tilted in a way for it to work, the reason is because the earth magnet is actually pulling downwards towards the core, not towards the north/south pole in a kind of way... so the further south I am from the equator the harder it is for the northern hemisphere compass to work properly... not sure if that sounds kind of logic, but if this is true, then QLD V35 owners should have your compass working properly...
  19. glad to hear... cheers... Group Buy #45 order list: - scandyflick (payment cleared) - heller44 (payment cleared) - tx3_90 (waiting for payment to clear)
  20. Are you all located closer to the equator (e.g. QLD) or where? I'm in VIC and mine don't work properly...
  21. quote sent - special group buy price is a lower than that. check your pm
  22. my bad... coming into conclusion too early... I went off to do some quick search... I think most of us didn't realise there are Northern Hemisphere Compass and Southern Hemisphere Compass... so it may use some sort of magnetic compass and/or combination of GPS.... That was a very good question... http://www.williams.edu/Biology/Faculty_St...ng/compass.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compass So there are two versions of compass made... the ones on our V35 are the northern version
  23. Cos I don't think V35 compass use magnet. it uses GPS signal which are configured to certain northern hemisphere satelites. that's why it stuffs up
  24. Compas will be off because we're in southern hemisphere, while it is originally built for northern hemisphere car... Can't do anything about it as far as i know - chris roger has told me before it will be off... If you have kids just lie to your kids that it's correct (or if you have directionally-challenged mates)
  25. If you can't find anything on V35 skyline manual gearbox, do a search on 350Z manual 6-speed gearbox. they are the same thing.
