keep it at sedate highway driving most of the time you can easily see 10L/100km - some people even got less. average daily driving with stop and go traffic is around 11~12L/100km have a heavy right foot and unleash its power every time, the car can easily go on the wrong side of 14L/100km

Anyone Experiencing This Problem?
rs73 replied to T88turbo's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I don't blame Clarkson putting it onto the uncool wall. Even the drift king Tsuchiya didn't quite like the R35 GTR (except for the power and stickiness around corners) - watch BMI Vol 23... First, its weight, around 1700kg Second, there's just way too much electronics, although you can turn it off. -

I had my tranny fluid done @ Nissan (50,000km major service), they told me the fluid was a bit burnt. I guess and I hoped I had it changed before it does any damage to the tranny. So far so good but I hardly ever use it in tiptronic mode. -
probably not as although I've sent it through to them, they haven't seem to processed my account yet. I tried to get through ringing and leaving a message they haven't got back to me... I'll have to try ringing again this week...

how many kms have yours done, superspit? T88turbo, do you always drive it in semi-auto mode till you noticed the problem happens in 3rd gear? I put mine in drive 99.99% of the time, can't be bothered to shift in daily rush hour traffic. -

sounds like 3rd gear synchro... happens on most manual cars that has had some sort of 'abuse' in the past... you never knew what the previous owner did back in Japan... my manual gearbox in the old R33 would easily pop out of gear without clutching in. also a bad sign it's on the way out. for some reason these problems are almost always on the 3rd gear, no matter what car... -

Has Your V Been Mistaken As Something Else?
rs73 replied to rs73's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
If it hadn't because of the engine platform change from inline 6 to V6 (all in the name of Front Midship platform), the V35 would have been labelled R35 GT for sure. (and maybe even GTT for potential single turbo-ed inline 6 variant). But I guess Nissan had an agenda for new look, and perhaps reserving the R35 model variant just for the GTR... I wouldn't blame ppl thinking it's a Maxima, the 4-door V35 is easily mistaken as Maxima in a flash, if you're not really an avid car (train) spotter. -
Has Your V Been Mistaken As Something Else?
rs73 replied to rs73's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
oh yes, forgot to add that to the list... my wife colleague said it looks like Audi TT -
I was 'fishing' on ebay just to see how much one will pick up and put mine on a reserved auction quite a while ago. It only went $19k max. Reserved not met of course so there was no obligation for me to sell, as I set my reserve at a very huge profit margin, only a fool would pay that money. So expect a low price if you want to sell quick. I've got an interesting experience though, out of all inquiries I got about the car, 80% were asking if I can source them a blue V35 sedan. So basically a coupe is NOT attracting buyers, and Sedan is MUCH preferred due to their lower price and more practicality, and they have to be blue.

Well perhaps as I had both front and rear Nissan badges replaced with the rather unfamiliar Infiniti badges when it arrived from Japan... I got 2 ocassions where first my mate thought my V35 coupe is a Lexus... C'mon, I'm not that rich to afford a Lexus :-) and secondly when I was filling up at a servo and just about to pay, the kid in the next servo looked at my car and pointed and asked to his parent: Is that a Porsche ? Yeah right What next? what have yours been mistaken of?

Wanted: V35 350 Gt Manual/handbook
rs73 replied to PR34CH's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
The original handbook is all in Japanese, pretty much useless unless you are Nihonjin (japanese) - or can read japanese characters. If you really must have a properly binded book shape rather than electronic / self-printout (just for bragging rights) you can get one from www.jpnz.co.nz - they've translated MOST handbook of JDM cars. -
If they are in stock it's just a matter of putting slots on them and they'll be shipped as soon as they're packed and ready. If not then they will reorder stock in which usually takes a week or two max...

It'll be a logistical nightmare for Andy to keep track who need to be kept in the loop when it's finally released. Those you who are new to the forum I suggest utilize the forum's thread subscription, just make sure in your profile you enter your email and when Andy or someone post that the software is available, you'll automatically get an email notification, with a nice preview of what is being posted about.

Active Headrest / Srs In Practise?
rs73 replied to superspit's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
according to the V35 brochure the active headrest will tilt forward in the event of an accident, which is to reduce the chance of whiplash effect on your neck. as usual seat bolster have SRS airbag, as well as curtain airbags on your B pillars, and the usual passenger and driver airbags. it is quite a good car in terms of safety features. ABS, VDC, you name it. -
Long time no hear (since skidpan 2003?) You can always join the next one.. end of feb closing... Excess, you can with modifications. If you're keeping your std calipers there is an adapter made for R32 GTST to be able to adapt R32 GTR under the stock caliper. The adapter can be bought from Just Jap... I think it's www.justjap.com.au, as I don't do group buys for adapter unfortunately so you have to source it yourself. Just tell them youre SAU member you get 10% off, not sure if that promo still on or not.

that's what I thought but the instruction said need to be mounted as far back as possible, that's why people put them somewhere on a metal mount in the rear bumper. the antistatic antenna also recommended to be at the top of rear windscreen or on the boot lid. I have yet to find a scientific reason why it needs to be mounted towards the back of the car not middle...

I always wear cotton most of the time. business shirts. and leather shoes. and still get zap my wife's colleague has a habit of walking around in the office dragging his feet, then walk up behind one of them and held out his finger close to the ear and zap!

If you don't want it loud, make sure you have the centre resonator as opposed to only straight pipe and relying on rear muffler only. It does help a lot. Most system that is not too loud would have a resonator in the middle. And if you're going to get someone to do it locally make sure you do a bit of research that the workshop you're going to ask to do it with have done something like that before and know what they're doing. Not because the workshop themselves tell you they know what they're doing, cos obviously they want your business and then just move on afterwards.

A genuine Nismo or Fujitsubo Legalis is probably the quietest system available off the shelf... but will be very expensive with the exchange rate now... plus they're cat back so you need to source front pipes separately. My setup was: HKS bell dump pipes, Trust MX front pipes, catco hi-flow cats (BATMBL's), and Trust MX cat-back. I had that Trust MX but it was still loud enough to get 1 EPA notice long time ago, even though it was still quieter than most other exhaust on the market. It was tested right on the 90db limit which is basically the loudest legal allowed, and I've been avoiding further notices since by putting an Apexi 4" tip silencer.

tried that, but sometimes when you just forget of that routine then the zap gets bad. and pretty much anything else, coming out of elevator and touching office's door, looks like an idiot every time hesitating for a second or two after swiping my card, staring at the metal door handle, and then use the back of my hand to test-feel the door handle if there's a zap or not before opening the door. getting into elevator and leaning on the handrail (metal) I'm electrified...
