Quick Question Regarding F50 Cima!
rs73 replied to Mr Eps's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
your service fee $1000-ish shipping costs $1500-ish how much does compliance cost $2000-3000-ish depending on model plus tyres ($800-900) is it best to get compliance done in QLD and then have re-shipped to WA? if so do you know how much this will cost? Why? - no one can do it in WA? tax? about 15% of the car cost GST? 10% of the (car cost + duty + shipping) Example for a 1.8million yen car (approx $18k) , the custom clearance that includes shipping, tax & gst cost about $6k in total. Plus broker fee $1k, compliance and tyres $4k that is about $11k on top of what is spent in japan, bringing total up to $29k. Then you need to add the cost of local alarm if the original one is not up to scratch, and registration cost in your state. Interstate transport if you want to get one done in QLD for certain reason (e.g. getting Chris Rogers' conversion) then expect to pay an extra $300-400 for a return trip on the back of a transport car. -

My pleasure. they could be just lazy to order things in, they'd rather to sell what they have in stock as they want those stock to move/turn around.

Twin Intake Upgrade And Possible Awd Conversion G35x
rs73 replied to CV35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
on a quick note - if you're prepare to spend heaps of $$ to do the conversion anyway, probably import yourself a front half cut of a Stagea 250RX/RS with VQ25DD engine & AWD transmission - and see if the trans will bolt onto your VQ35DE. sell of the VQ25DD afterwards to lessen the $ pain. there is a website with 350Z awd photos on the net, but keep in mind the car belongs to and was done by a professional big garage, like JUN or something, so cost for them is irrelevant compare to most common mortals like us. intake wise on an NA engine, most intake modifications including headers etc, probably only gonna yield a few extra kws, not really worth the money spent, unless a forced induction is introduced, e.g. a $7k-$10k HKS S/C kit or turbo kit, or a $17k APS 500HP twin-turbo kit. Believe me, I have been quoted that much. I would rather keep the car standard and nicely driveable in traffic. -
Twin Intake Upgrade And Possible Awd Conversion G35x

forget it. bury it deep and never look back. the cost probably not worth justifying it. depending how the front transaxle is located, in addition to new gearbox you may need a new floorpan to make some room for the front transaxle. i've seen the same route with r33 where the floorpan is just different between r33 gtr & gtst despite chasis is the same. AWD is only available on sedans with VQ25DD engine, so even if you get the floorpan, if your car is currently a coupe, don't expect to be able to swap it easily. Also if you get to find the transmission, I am not sure if it will bolt onto your VQ35DE engine if you got a coupe there. you'd be better off sell your car, and buy a proper AWD sedan version of the V35/G35 if you can find/import one. Remember you will end up with a less-sexy look of a sedan, and only 210HP-ish (155-ish kw) engine from the VQ25DD instead of 280HP (210kw+) of VQ35DE - and power to weight ratio of VQ25DD may not be enough to make the car eligible for low volume SEVS import - good luck. not sure about the twin intakes, probably again, not worth it unless you can get a new intake plenum which i would imagine cost an arm and leg. the single intake was good enough, heck i had 230rwkw with factory airbox and panel air filter in my r33 gtst - that's estimated 270kw @ flywheel. no pings! for sure the factory intake is sufficient for 210-220kw @ flywheel for an NA engine! -
Skyline V35 - Stereo + Dvd + Sat Nav
rs73 replied to Vev's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I read that factory V35 Brembo has only a little power over standard item, and therefore was no longer an option from 2005 onwards. On US websites, the G37 (V36) factory non-brembo calipers are MUCH BIGGER than the G35 (V35) brembo calipers, and therefore is a much favourable upgrade compared to the V35 Brembos... together with a 19" rims (18" won't fit). Factory v35 brembo fits under 18", which shows they are not that much bigger than standard... and they still fade on the track after a few laps... and most owners in USA replace them with even bigger brembo or other calipers like ap racing, willwood items etc. -

Wow? translate to english? I don't think so... the closest we got is a russian company working on it and still about a couple of months away before an actual dvd-rom patch is released... Replace DVD ROM? Do they remove it? That unit controls all AV related function in your dash, remove it your LCD won't show any pic anymore. Have you got any details what component they're putting in? Got any website? -

1. No - everything stays in Japanese, maybe in the future but will be at cost - not determined yet whether it will be successful. 2. No - japanese maps only - can't do anything about it, end of story. However you can install something "on top" of the TV's AUX input, be that an Australian navigation or TV. Do a search, there's other smaller threads here and there about things you need to know... There have been heaps of thread about this here: Regarding translation: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/So...re-t194126.html English sticker stick-on for the buttons (not really useful): http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/En...pl-t192636.html Regarding nav: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/35...av-t157379.html Regarding FM Band Converter (if you have Bose factory option and would like to keep the headunit): http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fi...te-t198015.html -
Can you find out Chris, if the 10 stacker is a standalone (do not need a matching headunit) then I'd be interested. Is the remote RF? if so that will be a lot easier than trying to route another IR sensor to the front. pm me price to VIC delivered. I'll sort out installation here. cheers.
-
Agreed, i can't believe you did that either... if I were you I would remove the TURBO TIMER, NOT the security system! Turbo timer is over-rated for street use, all is required is just a little bit sensible driving 1-2 minutes on approaching your final destination then you do not need a turbo timer at all - I didn't - over 4 years of tuned 230rwkw R33 gtst ownership...

thank's, or attached via pm is fine

wiring diagram - anywhere I can find/download on the net?
-
I see, I thought garmin was IR based too. Is it possible to splice the TV's IR input wire so the same IR sensor would provide input for two devices? as long as the IR codes between the two device doesn't overlap each other...? Alternatively, maybe you know of an in-car DVD player with an RF remote, that way it can be tucked away in the boot (something that takes like 6-10 dvds stacker), close the the pure tv's 2nd AV input.
-
what about the IR input for remote? how does my garmin shares the IR eye with my pure tv, did you put a y-splitter on the IR eye input wire to both modules?
-
sounds like it, might be doable but gotta come up with a 1/2 din plastic cover otherwise you'll have a 1/2 din size gap, which will be a real piss off if you ever drop a dvd or cd into the wrong gap...
-
thank's for the instruction, didn't think it'll be that complicated just to get to the stupid blank panel which one? the blank one or the new cruise control? do you need to modify anything before it will work? also you said the harness is already pre-wired inside the steering wheel column to connect to the cruise buttons, is that right?
-
I came across the Nesa DVD-5051 as well, 1/2 DIN size so looks like slim enough to fit in e.g. glovebox or tucked in somewhere less obvious. http://www.nesavision.com/dvd5051.html Is this just as good as the other DVD-8000 that you told me about?
-
What do you reckon of this? 40GB HDD, its' own CPU, functions as a dvd player as well... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1-DIN-In-Dash-DVD-C...1QQcmdZViewItem I should've put the dvd player in when chris did the conversion work saves all the troubles now...
-
No, haven't got the buttons yet, just ordered last night, was just warming up the engine n looking at the panel and tried to tweak it but won't budge. only saw two caps on both side of the steering wheel cowl which reveals 2 bolts on both side but not sure if that's where I am suppose to start. will ring you after it arrives, possibly after the long weekend next week.
-
Hi Chris, got tips on how to remove the blank RH side panel on the steering wheel so it can be swapped with the ones with CC buttons? I don't wanna be breaking the plastic...
