  1. Hmmm, bad assumption I think. Cars came from the same factory. What happens in USDM could happen to JDM cars. Although a complete service history in Japan (if you can read them) may minimise those risk. As quoted from Forest Gump and a forum member on this forum, Imports is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get... can be something you like, or can be something you dislike.
  2. Well I'll see if it fits this weekend...
  3. Well looking at how the tyres sit and the depth of the space, it'll probably not gonna take a full size 18" tyre, but a small 16" with 205 width might fit... problem is if the car has got a brembo factory then a 16" may not clear then the spare would be useless. I got a set of old 16" from the R33 but no tyres, so I can't really tested whether it'll fit, mine no brembo so clearance shouldn't be an issue.
  4. Hm, yeah that's probably inherent to these VQ Nissan engines... Have read that the bottom end on these VQ engine is like 'glass' - they're a lot weaker than the RB inline 6. If you want more bullet proof engine then stick with the RB of R33/R34, but they're getting old as well so all engines when they're getting old they are more prone to failure if being pushed.
  5. both before and after sounds would be nice, so we can relate what it would be in real life sound - as you said sometimes the sound recorded by phone or camera may not be sound 'real'
  6. can you record the sound and attach it here for us all to hear?
  7. Easy solution for you then just buy 03 and 04 models, stay off the 05 & 06... Basically all engine burns oil to a certain degree. the more worn the engines the more they burn.
  8. Wrong forum, mate? This is the v-series forum (V35/V36 onwards), perhaps move this thread to the R33 forum or the turbo forum? But on the side note it should be 2.5L turbo, not 2.4L turbo, either the car is dodgy or the dealer doesn't know what they're talking about.
  9. If the hub height is the same then it should be ok, however shaving down 324mm down to 310 that's 14mm or about 7mm in od reduction - that's quite a lot to shave so labour wise might be expensive? pm sent
  10. I'm not sure if this is still in line with the topic discussion but I noticed some newer V35 models have a button that says CARWINGS on them, what are these? I'm sure it's not those James Bond style wings coming out of the car so it can fly...
  11. Most options varies from one car to another. Some cars have the reversing camera that pops up the TV on premium models to give you a rear view of the car, some has even the rare front bumper camera to give you fish eye look on both side of the front bumpers - useful to get out of a small alley with buildings built up to the streetfront. Some has an auto dipping mirrors when you put the car into reverse, some sedans have an radar (active) cruise control that will adjust vehicle speed if it detects some other car cutting you off in front of you or getting too close, auto headlights are common, and the list just keeps going on. If you are in QLD then a guy called Chris Roger can do the Ipod integration with the bose stereo. If not then might be a 'wish you luck' trip to a local audio installer to get it done right. Best to find the best in the business or previous experience/exposure with V35, don't shop by price as you don't want to stuff up the electricals in these cars, they're very tricky and can get very expensive if they get it wrong. Car has CAN (Controlled Area Network) that would complicate things up and cutting wires simply don't work in this car.
  12. Still 1 order received so far: - Kwyjibo - for R32 gtst front slotted rotors and greenstuff pads (payment has cleared) Group buy opens until 16 April - delivery estimated before 25 april
  13. Price drop - will take offers around $--- SOLD
  14. what have you got in place of them on your car? something aftermarket?
  15. Changing to a manual? Maybe cos the rarity of sunroof, and do you have Chris' local navigation solution? You can try put it up like $40k ono, that is if you are not desperate to sell it quick for cash or for another car coming in... at the end of the day if someone likes your car and you can sell it anywhere in the vicinity of $38k+ it'll be a good price. Auction rating might not be a big help on the price cos it will be very hard to explain to buyers what they mean plus, some buyers will think 4.5 is on a scale of 10, not 5. They would rather see it in flesh and get the actual feel of what the car looks like. Blue could be another bonus as not as many blue around as white or silver, but again, it depends what buyer is looking - won't help having all those rare features if the buyer didn't like blue colour from the start - or don't like leather as what NISMO said. You probably better of taking off those infiniti scuff plate (if the factory one is still underneath) and try to sell those separately - you may get more money out of it.
  16. Are you guys putting in an aftermarket head unit, is that true? Does the TV screen works independently if the bose unit is replaced?
  17. do you mean a dash panel with a double DIN opening for aftermarket head unit? you can either get one from www.japanparts.com or search for replacement through www.riversideinfiniti.com V35 is the G35 in USA but just becareful that their car is LHD, so whenever they mentioned drivers side it on the riverside infiniti website, it means left side for us, not right side.
  18. I really should move to brisbane am I?
  19. jimmy, quote sent via pm
  20. on mine it's like a stuck on there with a glue or something... but it looks like from the pic there's holes for screw at the bottom so that would be one way to secure it, and the glue is just finishing off any gaps that may appear between the bumper and the pod

  23. Great, can't wait to hear the good news when it all turns around... also I read somewhere that someone managed to convert the factory DVD rom unit so it will read a normal DVD movie disc... might be on an infiniti related forum... is that something these guys can do as well?
