  1. well, yeah, let's see how it runs when it arrives. if it's been neglected since 2004 and 3600km, the engine would've surely be almost dead. If that really happens then I guess it'll be a candidate for rebuild + a local APS twin turbo system for 350Z - but I am yet to find out if they can fit inside the V35 chassis.
  2. Yeah, I guess so, recently the japan port security is pretty tight and according to my supplier they may not be able to take further pictures prior to shipping due to this new security measures... I'm getting mine complied in Brisbane so it won't be till Feb till I see it in metal.
  3. what's the measurement of japanese plate holder? just trying to figure out which std/personalised slim plate would fit.
  4. Still haven't got the car yet, but I already got the books and 1 of the keys sent by the japanese supplier in a parcel. My car come from Tokyo Nissan and the previous owner only had it stamped in the first year (2003), being a 1000km inspection done at about 800km, then a 5000km or 6 months done at 2000-ish km, and the latest service recorded (2004) is a 1 year service done at 3600km... Since 2004 March there are no more service recorded, i mean WTF - it may not be a great deal but I can now only hope that the previous owner DID service the car in the last 3 years and it's done 49000km. Otherwise 3 years of use and 46000km with no oil change would not sound too good! The problem is the USS Yokohama's auction sheet only mentioned (circled) Yes, there is a user manual and Yes there is a service book, but didn't actually say whether the service is complete or not up to the last point prior to sale/auction. How is yours looking? Did you get yours complete or is it a common thing that Japanese owners never bother to have their service book stamped after 1 year of warranty service?
  5. Well I think the styling will grow on you after a while... But I think the V36 sedan now does look better than the previous V35 sedan, especially the new headlight and bonnet styling suits the sedan shape better.
  6. That reminds me when I was trying to find a replacement for my old '93 R33 auto (wanted a manual), went around looking for a locally landed R33 manual and despite all the bell and whistles and bling on the web advertisement, when I see the car in flesh 99% of them are in pretty much in poor sorry condition. That was about 4 years ago, but I think it's still the same case now, although if you plan to buy a 2-3 yr old vehicle there's a chance the condition will be better than a 10 yr old car. oh yeah and as G7 mentioned don't forget insurance. I'm 35yo Rating 1 for 3 years, excellent driving history, and quoted by Justcar with a value of $35k = $1070 a year in a high risk melb suburb. Best quote is from Dawes $1067 but I'm not sure how good they are as I've never heard Dawes insurance personally. If you're much younger than me and has less than excellent driving/insurance history, expect that quote to grow to up about $2k on average that I've seen people been quoted, more if you're in Sydney. That's a lot of money to pay every year, but as you own an import you'd better get yourself insured because parts and repair can be very expensive if something happens *touch wood*.
  7. Also I had a look at the link you showed me. Nice looking car, but most likely a non-premium model (no leather). Bear in mind that if you buy a premium model in the 1st place they come with suede/leather interior and a lot will come with Bose stereo that sounds much better than the stock form. Remember that V35 has an integrated factory dashboard so putting an aftermarket sound system would be almost impossible, so it's worth to go with a better stereo that you can live without installing any aftermarket amps or subwoofer (if you're not a die-hard audiophile).
  8. I thought you'll need to budget around mid 40ks for a nice RX8 with leather trim, $30k-ish would probably get you an early release of RX8 with not much options on it. My bro had an Revolution version RX8 and it cost him like $64k 2 years ago. If you can buy RX8 with leather, then the comparison would be 350Z, but a late model V35 would be about high $30k to mid $40k depending on km and transmission & trim level (e.g premium or non premium, auto or 6sp manual). low $30k is easy to get for a 4 door sedan. But if you wanted a coupe, even in auto you'd be searching for quite some time to get the early 2003 model. I'm a bit sceptical with aftermaket leather as you'll either have mis-matched door trim or you'll have to go all the way with door trim, rear seat etc, and fake leather I heard could cost about $3k-$5k installed depending on qualty and real leather would be $7k-10k so dunno if you wanna spend $30k on a non premium V35 and spend another $7k on a non factory leather, you'll probably be better of save up and budget around $35-38k to get a nice auto with premium nd leather pack incl on road costs...
  9. Does your car has factory tv/navigation ? and is this Hi Tech reflashed ECU is done by a company in Japan or is it a local company? well if you know the tyre size of a standard 350GT, and the tyre size of your current 19" it can then be calculated how much off is your 19" tyres' circumference against the stock tyres, and determine if that 10km/h off is due to tyres or due to speedo. I had a nismo speedo in my old R33 and it was off by about 10km/h due to the following reason (I believe): - By standard most cars will have their speedo 'off' by about 2-4km/h depending make/model. - Nismo speedo is for manual model, however: - Car was converted auto to manual with original auto diff retained, which has final ratio of 4.3:1 instead of manual's final diff ratio 4.311:1 (there's about 4% difference) - Car has non std 17" wheel & tyres so there is a further off factor... It reads high, so when it reads 110km/h on interstate highway I was actually only traveling about 99-101km/h and if I stuck to the limit according to the speedo people just get past me looking really annoyed. Is yours reading high than actual speed or reading low? reading high saves your license from speeding fine
  10. that sounds really good... by the way, car missed the boat booking deadline, so won't arrive early Jan, estimated might be late January, however as there's no jan schedule yet, might not be accurate. I was also thrown in between navi or tv conversion, navi would be more useful, but tv is a cool gadget but might only be worth if spending lots of time in the car. doing both could be too expensive also will the tv work while in motion, or only when the car is parked/stationary?
  11. The R35 GTR will be the first GTR that nissan will intend to be sold globally. So it will be made in both right hand and left hand drive versions. Thank's to Nissan's new CEO who came from Renault is now marketing their cars globally, either under the name Nissan or Infiniti.
  12. I thought it will talk to you in a sweet japanese lady voice... "Navi doko desu ka??" ha ha
  13. I think it's another 5 or 10 % above the standard 10% import duty. Plus registration will cost you extra too... So in the end the on the road cost will escalate.
  14. if mine arrived in january, you can try it on mine, or is it too risky (e.g. in beta 'version') ?
  15. Could be another factor that the yankees always think of nothing better than their dodges & chevy that all other imported brand have to dump their prices in order to make sales... and they've put WW2 behind them for so long now all there is economic interest...
  16. It's the whole economic thing... most likely are: - US$ is stronger than A$, and affect the lower prices... - US may have special trade deal or bargaining power with Japan in terms of export/import so therefore they may be able to get better / lower prices on all aspects of importing, e.g. custom tax, shipping / transport, etc. - Maybe there's just more trade from Japan to US than to Australia, so therefore more ships, more supply, yielding in lower prices.. and the list can go on...
  17. if the car missing the japanese navigation dvd, does it do annoying sound when it couldn't find it?
  18. No pics, cos the meter is still in Nismo catalogue in japan... just considering to order, but only if the '03 350GT on its way does have a TV & DVD navigation, as according to the catalogue it won't work with cars without TV & DVD navigation. What's CAN by the way?
  19. I was looking at the Nismo combination meter, I know they cost a bit like $700-is landed new. the thing is these speedo combo only available for 6sp or tiptronic v35 with tv/dvd only. I wonder why car with tv/dvd has something to do with the speedo? Has anyone replaced theirs, does that remove the 180 speed limit or is that controlled by the ecu? Does it reset the electronic odo km to zero, or will the odo reading kept consistent? e.g. the odo reading is controlled by another device, not the speedo? and is the speed reading accurate? I had a nismo 300kph speedo on my old r33 gtst <sold>, and the speed reading is off by almost 10km/h. is there any electrical hic ups after you replaced your speedo with the nismo items?
  20. GROUP BUY 25 CLOSED... 21. Ash, if you have a 32 Gtst you will need to get R32 rotors if you do not wish to change anything. R32 rotors front is 280mm od while R33 is 296mm od, there's 16mm difference there or 8mm bigger on each side. You need to check your clearance it'll probably hit your caliper or your brake pads position won't be in the optimum location. The rear R32 & R33 gtst are both the same 297mm od. If you want then I will suggest 2x front slotted R32 Gtst & 2x R32 gtst rear slotted, unless you want to custom make a caliper adapter to fit the R33 gtst rotors at the front.
