whats wrong with the ones you have?? arsehole wheels are really expensive, and seriously wouldnt make that much difference, unless its just looks you are going for. looks great anyways!
-
will it retard the timing as boost increases? this is the main thing that has slowed me down, as i dont want to grenade my 130km L24e (and my Pintara getting a whole new engine...) are you any good at drawing electrical schematics? (as i may be interested in making one myself)

I went to the wreckers to look at the MR30 they had there, AND THEY CRUSHED IT THE DAY BEFORE.... damnit! i knew i should of got the parts the other weekend! i was so annoyed... anyways i looked at the other old dattos and found a C260, man these things looked like the 70's VIP it has a carbied L26, with GENIE 321 exctractors on it, ( and i didnt have time to see what stamp was on the camshaft...) i was thinking of bolting the extractors on my L24e MR30 for the time being, (untill the turbo stuff comes along...) they only wanted $40 for them too! so the question is, What stamp am i looking for on the camshaft, ( is it 'C' or something?) and will the extractors fit, and will they make any noticeable power difference (i.e. is it worth it?)

Im in Ringwood, Eastern suburbs ( just out from Knox City) Mate that would be such a help! Can we sort out some pics? The stock rims that are on right now are in great nick, its just the tyres are small on the front and different treads on the back ( and only one of the back ones are roadworthy...) Im not sure what sizes the stockies are (i will check when i get home on the weekend) you can tell the tyres on the front are tiny.... looks gay as thanks for the help

is that inlet manifold an ebay item?? i missed out on the gear i wanted last week... yeah the mechanic was a bit of a wanker, he said he didnt really have time to do it and recommended me to another mate of his, who is a dodgy bugga from a used car yard.... Im not going to get discouraged, this will get done. Ghostrider, the brake master cylinder you mentioned, how long until it is available? I really want to get the car on the road before christmas if possible. Im thinking of useing the wheels and tyres from my Pintara ( i got 'TRX' rims and Falkens, and the wheels fit, but i want to put the good tyres on the Skyline rims, dunno if they fit yet...) Im going to call up a exhaust shop to get a quote today too. rear end alignment? thats when i thought this guy is a trippa ( i wasnt fully convinced) There is a red 83 hat at my local wreckers, (along with a L28 carbied C200 or some big arse datsun) Im going to check out the control arms from that, and the exhaust even (if its roadworthy!) it would be cheaper to get that now, then get a 2.5 system new when i do the turbo setup... there was a newish looking brake master cylinder in the boot, but it was missing the silver part on the front of it with the lines that come off it. Ah weel thats all for now... I'l get an upsate as soon as something else happens P.S. Ghostrider the mastere cyl, can you get back to me pretty quick on that one? and coupe72, can you get back to me on the oil sensor (the leak is on the plug side, not the threading...)

DAMN IT!! I went to get a final roadworthy list last week... the mechanic reckons it will need $1000 in labour and $1000 in parts.... screw that. there was a whole lot of sh1t he picked up on. lower control arms ( arrgh! ) idler arm bushes oil leack from oil prseeure sensor diff oil leake (needs new gasketwhere do i get a diff gasket from? ) new tyres all round brake master cylinder needs replaceing wiper blades number plate light not working exhaust manifold gasket ( where do i get one of these too?) middle muffler cracked (replace) rear muffler holes(replace) front and rear wheel alignment so it looks like the turbo project will take a break, as my focus will now to get this car on the road... any help with sourcing control arms, diff gaskets, and exhaust gaskets??? Regards, Andrew

OK I have a mate going to the USA in a few weeks, and he has a spare 32kg of luggage he can bring back... there is a L28et AFM, ECU, DIzzy, Loom and 'boost sensor' etc on ebay.us im wondering will this stuff fit the l24 without major problems ( i have sourced a turbo, injectors, ex' manifold, and intake), as i can get it here in 2 months if it will fit! so please help!

Vic: Rb20det Goodies
Factory 5 replied to Juls's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hey im interested.... Im kinda new to Rb engines, and im hopeing to put one in my MR30 Hatch (in my avatar) i know my gearbox can be adapted to duit, but what else will i need to get it running? i.e. ECU ( are NICS ecu's hard to find?) Injectors loom DIzzy ( does it com with one??) and is there a way to get a compression test done??? pm me for further details... Regards, MAG86 -
check out skylinesdownunder forums, a few guys have done it there... my understanding is the crossmember needs to be replaced with one from an R31 skyline, and a custom gearbox mount, or if you have a front cut, then swap the crossmember over with the engine... then the drive shaft needs shortening, and probably a stronger diff... then brakes! And the brake master cyl. does nort fit with an RB20, so the R32 one needs to go in too... i have been looking into it too, and i decided to keep my L24 as it has low km and wont give me any trouble if i look after it right... The l28(et) will beat an RB20det if its all turboed up, with some good headwork and an aftermarket ECU... its a good idea if you dont have stacks of cash... but if you have a front cut... go for it! Where are you located? i may be interested in your L28 if you really are selling it... how many km decides the price...

Request Pages From Service Manual
Factory 5 replied to Factory 5's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
can anyone explain how to disconnect the lower control arm from the lower tie rod end? i have unfastened the nut, but it does NOT move.... and with the GMH lower ball joint replacement... can anyone elaborate a bit on that? I have sourced some control arm assemblies for $95 each, but im hopeing to do this 'swap' with the ball joints... -
gimme gimme gimme! pm me for more info... Ghostrider has a L20et ECU too but he's unsure if it works etc... Might do some business with ya $$$

Top stuff guys!! Ive looked into fuel only computers, most are pricey brand new, just gotta wait until a 2nd hand one comes up. But the L20et ECU sounds like it could be a good choice for the minute... im not goint to run massive boost or go crazy at the moment... just gotta get used to it then start doing a bit more, like intercooler and sequential boost controller etc... Is ther much risk of running lean (and detonating) on a L20et ECU? Could i add a variable resistor to the O2 sensor tricking it into thinking it needs more fuel?? (and tuning it to suit, or add a frequency control relay and have the resistor value change as the revs get hightr/lower...) 2400cc airflow versus 2000cc airflow... just thinking....

Im on the prowl for a turbo ECU... Im looking first for a 280ZXT (L28et) or a L20et... I got in contact with a guy in the USA, this is his reply... Hello Andrew, I do have some turbo ecu and complete harnesses all wrapped up in boxes... They come from the same few turbo cars but since they are mixed up now I have no idea which goes with what. Do you know what the number on the ecu you need is? What about the harness, do you know what number on the sticker is? I definitely have what you are looking for but since I'm not an expert, it's hard to identify the correct matching set for you. Let me know if you can help with this. Have a good one and I will wait to hear back from you. "G" SO: Does anyone know the ECU part numbers?? and the "sticker" number on the loom? Thanks again... Andrew

im wondering that too, theres a few L28 (carbied) engines at my wreckers.... i can get one for $20!!!

good onya! Thats 3 of us now! Im still getting info in Engine Management... whether stand-alone or piggyback or a hybrid system of some sort... I think (hope!) an L20et ECU might work, but with some adjustable resistors to help with the fuel ratios and some sort of trigger system to use different values at pre-set RPMs.... (theoretically 2.4lt has 20% more airflow than a L20e, but the turbo increases the airflow on both sides a fair bit, so there is still alot of extra things to consider) I have a mate who is playing with the idea now, will post up more info as i get it...

Top Feed Injector chart: Engine Style Size Impedance* (high or low) Years / Models Nissan KA24E Top feed 260cc High Pintara/Navara/Pathfinder 2.4/ S13 Nissan CA18DET Top feed 370cc Low S13 Nissan RB20DET Top feed 270cc High R32 Nissan RB26DETT Top feed 440cc Low R32/R33/R34 so i have 270cc injectors.... Would these be any good? or i might be after some from ghostrider edit: found this site... http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/injectors/index.html very interesting site this one!!!

I received my KA24E throttle body last night, far out its got a big mouth!... I just need to give it a bit of a clean and ti will be as good as new. I also now have eight KA24e fuel injectors, which i am unsure of the flow or impedance, im going to find out on antrx.com.... AND my exhaust manifold looks very similar to a turbo manifold... i really dont want to take shortcuts but it looks like it would flow pretty well with a turbo... Ah well i'll keep going... plan so far (engine-wise): high flow muffler ( commodore one or something similar) shielded intake and cold air piping 2.5" exhaust L28e intake manifold (bit of porting maybe...) ka24 T.B. rebuild dizzy... new vac lines maybe a CAMSHAFT!!!! remove air con (needs retro fitting and sh1t like that)

On the Roadworthy checklist the mechanic wrote..." Idler arm worn, tie rod ends loose, and both lower ball joints worn/loose..." I am trying to get this baby on the road before Christmas, CAN ANYONE HELP ME?? I have the car up on stands and i am unsure of which steering parts are what? Im thinking all the info I need might be in the service manual, or the minds of the users of this forum... I am also having lots of trouble removeing the oil pressure sensor, as there is a slight leak from there(as the mechanic mentioned) And the front muffler is cracked, so I was wondering whether to remove it and replace it with a straight through length of piping, or a whole new exhaust system, (which i dont know if i will do yet, might wait until i get the turbo setup and get a 2.5 inch...) Thanks in advance, Andrew (MAG86)

Hey let me know where you are and i can get you one for way less than that, im a member of antrx.com, a Pintara KA24e enthusiast site, there are about 4 2.4lt cars being wrecked right now, I just got one for my L24et project for $20.... I will go an put up a WTB post for you if you like... sms me on 0404 577 263 if you want me to do it

Im more leaning towards the L24et side of things ( for budget reasons too)

This is my 1984 RMR30 Ti Hatch project thread. started 2006 going from asthmatic L24 EFI with an auto box with overdrive, to a L24et with VG30et and L20et management. 5 speed will go in once i blow up the auto...
