Thanks, I will ring Nissan spares tomorrow. Do you have their contact details? Does the pump usually crack by itself because I have a feeling that my mechanic might have cracked it attemting to take off the crank gear.
-
My mechanic has taken it out and he says there's a hairline crack in the pump. He couldn't get the front crank shaft gear off so he cut that. Now I need to source crank gear as well as a slinger. What could cause the pump to crack, old age, high millage??

Anyone know anywhere in Melbourne where I can take my oil pump to get it inpected and repaired if possible?
-
BTW forgot to mention it's for an RB20DET engine.
-
My oil pump is on the way out and I need to change it. What are my options with the oil pump? Do I get a new one from Nissan or aftermarket? Should I source a second hand one or get it repaired? What can I do and what are the rough costs involved? Thankyou
-
Well I started it this morning and it started first go. So we drove it to Vicroads for registration and there was no hassles there. Then I drove it to mechanics with no problems, so it seems like there hasn't been any damage done from the 1st few start ups. My mechanic said it could be cutting the fuel because of the low oil pressure. Does the R32 do this?

Compliance workshop troubles

Pics attached below. Sorry about the poor quality, camera phone plus it was pretty dark in the garage. -
I got a major service done straight away after the transportation from Japan before I even drove the car. The mechanic that checked it out said it was a perfectly healthy good engine with good compression. But when I drove it to the compliance workshop the oil pressure gauge dropped down to 0 every now and then. No light came on so I assumed it was an oil sender problem as this is common problem. After the compliancing the car went back to the mechanics and he checked it with an oil pressure gauge and it was low, like 10psi on idle. So what he did was flush the system and it didn't improve much, something like 14psi. So he said it might be an oil pump problem and that it should be fine to drive for now to get it registered first and then back to the mechanics after. So yesterday when I started it to move it to give it a wash it hesitated and after a few tries it started but with a very lumpy idle and oil pressure light on. I immediately switched it off and waited a bit and tried once more and it started fine. So I didn't really think it was a problem. Today I booked in rego for Wednesday and I wanted to start it again to check if it's ok to drive. It started first go but idled real rough with oil light on. So I switched it of and didn't try it again. Should I cancel the rego and get the car towed to the mechanics immediately because I'm afraid I might be starving the engine of oil on start-up? Sorry for the long post but I'm frustrated that my mechanic didn't pick up on the oil pressure problem before he handed the car back when he should have checked these things. After all I payed $800 on this full service.

Compliance workshop troubles

It's under 15 year old rule. I'll try to get some pics to show you. Thanks for your pics predator, mine is wayyyy back against the back window. They drilled through the edge of the speaker grill so there a hole there that I can just feel when i reach all the way back. My tinting is very dark so I don't know how I'm going to take the picture from the outside, but I'll work something out. -
How long does it usually take for the R32 temperature to reach the middle of the guage. Because today when I went for a drive the guage went straight up to the middle after something like 500 metres. Although its not over heating or anything, it just seems to reach operating temperature pretty fast. Is this normal?

Compliance workshop troubles
stingray replied to stingray's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Yeh i kind of figured that he will have to drill up and its unavoidable so i'm not so worried about that. What's worrying me is how close to the centre of the seating position the anchorage point has to be because I remember hearing it has to be within a certain area near the centre position. Does anyone have pictures of how their's is done? -
I just got my car back from the compliance workshop today and I took a look at it. The back child anchor points isn't even put in. The bottom plate has been secured underneath the parcel self but the actual anchor hook thing isn't screwed in from the top. By the looks of it they have drilled behind the speaker grill and then they realised that the anchor points won't fit behind there and just left it as it is. Also they have drilled one of the anchor points off centred. How much can it be off centred? They have also drilled from the bottom up and obviously hit the window because now there is a scratch mark in my rear tinting on both sides. Is this unavoidable as drilling upwards is hard or should I go back and see what they say?

bump!!! Urgent, as compliance in comming up in a weeks time. Otherwise I'm going to have to goto wreckers after Christmas.

Sorry I'm after a black one, thanks anyway.

I'm after a standard R32 Spoiler in black with working break light, located in Melbourne. Please PM me or post here if you have one available as I need one before compliancing. Thankyou

R32 high rear break light
stingray replied to stingray's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
GTR spoilers don't have them that's why its required to fit one of the aftermarket ones on the back window, but for gts-t the high mount brake lights are on the standard spoiler. In my case I don't have the standard spoiler so I gather I would require a window one as part of compliance. Thats why I'm enquring about a spoiler because I have the option to fit a standard one if I really wanted to goto the trouble. Thanks for the offer to borrow your spoiler Dluded but I'm in Melbourne. -
your car coming into Oz..

Thanks, I'm speaking to my friend now. For Part 2 - Agent, I'm assuming this is the part for putting in your custom agent details, he filled in Jspec details and they checked his Import Approval form and said it was all correct so I guess Jspec will be handling the customs work for him. Who here has used Jspec and can clarify this for me? -

What's the go with Customs Agent? I'm using Prestige Motorsport and they have recommended an agent in Victoria for me. My friend however is using Jspec and on his import approval form he has put Jspec as the agent. Does that mean he doesn't have to pay extra for a customs agent because Jspec does the customs paperwork for him as part of their $1000 fee? Or is their an extra fee ontop of that $1000 that is inlcluded as the total with the shipping? -
Does a rear high break light need to be fitted to the window as part of compliance if the standard spoiler isn't there? How much do they cost? I'm considering buying or maybe borrowing a standard spoiler and putting on temporarily for compliancing if that's possible. What are your thoughts, should i just put a high break light in?

R32 Rear Reflector Question
stingray replied to stingray's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thanks Funkymonkey So when you say light, do u mean they actually turn on as a light, or just a reflector type plastic? Also which specific Mitsubishi car side repeaters are you talking about? Ray -
R32 Rear Reflector Question
stingray replied to stingray's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thanks for the reply. If it doesn't leave a hole or any marks I will remove them once the car gets here. I've notice that the R32's don't have the front side guard indicator standard and I've seen many 80's cars like corolla's, magna's, ect that don't have them aswell. That's because the front light assembly has a little lump incorperated into the corner that acts as the side blinker. I'm wondering do these front guard amber indicators need to be added in during compliance? Ray
