  1. ^^^ yeah I seem to had lost my card as well. Feel like I lost it as soon as I got it. So is it possible to get a new membership card on the night?
  2. Yeah I have to agree with some of the others, if your looking at a trade, building & construction is where the money is at. I have a degree, and have worked as a professional scientist and project manager and if I had to do it again at the start I would have been a sparky or something. I am often out on the field supervising trades people taking on the stress, running and organising projects, all the while nearly all the trades people (contractors) are getting paid more than me, a lot more than me in some cases. I also was thinking of working as a mechanic when I was younger. I worked with my cousin at his workshop for some experience, while I enjoyed it as it was new to me, he was always talking me out of it for similar reasons as others have said (pay being one of the main one, and loss of passion for cars). However, saying that, If I was to become a mechanic I would try and work my way to being a tuner / engine builder working at a reputable performance workshop maybe aiming have my own business one day. At least that way even if you aren't getting paid so well, you would be working on nicer cars doing more interesting and challenging work. Its just a shame that the mechanic trade doesn't pay anywhere near the same as other trades. At the end of the day do you want to be the guy working on the R34 GTR or the guy who owns it? Best of luck with your decision.
  3. Missed the last one, so I'll be there. Be good to meet some of u guys in person.
  4. Does anyone know if you must have the standard boost solenoid hooked up or is it fine to run it off the actuators? My point being, my car doesn't have the standard solenoid, I was just going to use a T-piece where the Aftermarket boost controller is.
  5. ^^^ that good to hear mate, that u passed the test not that u got done by EPA. Gives me hope that I'll pass too. I have a stock exhaust so hopefully the cat will be good enough to cut emissions and quiet enough as well. Btw what kinda power u get with Racepace tune. I was about to take mine there but got he EPA notice before I could.
  6. Thanks for your advice guys. As I mentioned in my first post its a full epa "noise and emissions" so I have to change to stock what Ash (R31nismoid) recommended, which I realise and have done, but I was wondering if the -5 turbos would be ok running with the stock components. The point that Trent has made is an interesting one. Be great to pass an EPA without having to change everything back to stock.
  7. Great thanks for the advice, I was hoping it would be ok, and yes the EPA free rev it in neutral at 5,500 rpm (I think for a GTR) so the boost will be little to none with no load. Just didn't want to kill anything driving it around.
  8. Hey guys, was after a bit of insight. I was unlucky enough to get pinned with and EPA (Victoria) noise and emissions notice. I have a modded R33 GTR, and I basically have to change everything back to stock. I originally had: Garrett -5s Nismo 555 injectors Nismo fuel pump & fuel pressure regulator Power FC Greddy Profec B spec 2 boost controller HKS cam gears Apexi pods 3 inch exhaust. I have changed everything back to stock apart from the turbos and HKS cam gears. I was hoping not to change the turbos over, plus they are covered by the factory heat shields so the EPA inspector (hopefully) shouldn't be able to tell that the turbos aren't standard. I think the turbos are running a stock boost of around 10-11 psi. Does anyone think that running the -5s with basically everything stock is asking for trouble, will it run too lean? I know that its far from ideal, and I wouldn't be driving it around while its like this, I just want to pass the EPA with out having to buy and install the stock turbos. I would appreciate any advice if it can be done or any other suggestions to get around this. Thanks.
  9. Awesome car brockas, I wasn't really a fan of white gtrs, but lately after seein a few good examples I'm really diggin it. Especially liking the white with black combination, great job.
  10. Hey Leigh awesome ride! I got a series 3 in black took me ages to find, got gold gtcs as well. The 19s should fit there is a guy in uk that has 19 inch gtcs but he had to mod the guards. There are some photos I put up of it a few pages back. Make sure u put some pics up when u fit em! He has a thread on gtroc, he might have some details of what he had to do to fit them. Enjoy ur ride mate, gtr's are awesome!
  11. Steering wheel looks awesome Matt, great choice! Dying to see some vids of your car, please end the suspense!
  12. Looks awesome, I'd like to try this on mine sometime. Well done.
  13. Hey matt, I like the shot of ur evo, how did u achieve that? Similar to a hdr technique?
  14. I don't think it is Matts, wish it was though. Your car Matt, is more than magazine worthy, and I wouldn't be suprised to see it in a mag soon! It looks like the GTR in PI is Pentroofs GTR, it has a black rear wing, white side mirrors and the engine looks different apart from that it is very similar to Matts. Any updates Matt? pics or VIDs (I think everyone is dying to see and hear this beast in action!) Unbelievable car you have!
  15. Yeah i agree, the darker colours, black and a dark gun metal grey is fn cool! White doesn't do it for me and orange and blue errr.. definately not to my taste. Black and gunmetal are more timeless as well.
  16. Yeah well done on the car shots BNR#@! I also like the zoomed shot (3rd), I've tried it a few times myself and got some interesting results, nothing worth putting up here though. I've done a bit of searching of pics from old monthly photo threads and I notice how much everyone is improving, a lot of shots from you guys are looking very pro these days, awesome to see!
  17. ^^^ Thats what I wanted to hear! I was checking out Google Street view on some of the roads around Tassie, man they looked sweet and no cops like you said! I'd definitely take it easy around some of them, or at least leave room for a margin of error. Hate to kill my pride and joy!
  18. Congrats on the car mate, looks awesome, love the stance! I recently bought a Series 3 GTR as well, but in black. I was looking for ages too, I have very similar mods as yours as well, lovin the power. I bet you enjoy driving it around those mountain roads, it's friggin' awesome fun! I've been around Mount Baw Baw, Dandenongs, Marysville and Warburton, Great Ocean Road etc. I find myself looking at Google Maps searching for some isolated twisty roads to hit on weekends. Thinking of taking it down to Tassie, some of those roads look amazing! Are you planing to do further work to it or keep it as is? Amazing car you've got there, enjoy it!
  19. Hey mate I bought a GTR from Sydney and kept it registered with NSW plates. About 2-3 weeks later I handed in the NSW plates, and registered my car with Victorian plates. I needed a RWC, and proof of sale (contract signed by you and the seller), and you have to fill in a form with the all your details. Apparantly it was easier for them to do, because it was still NSW retgistered when I went to swap it over to VIC they had the details on the system, and it didn't require an inspection as long as I provided a RWC, well thats what the guy behind the counter told me. I was worried about bring it over from NSW to VIC, thinking it might be a real pain to get a roadworthy if they pick on any of the mods that it had, and it might get checked over by VicRoads. In the end the RWC cost me $70 and there was no inspection needed so it all went smoothly. Good luck
  20. Thanks for your comments guys, I like receiving constructive criticism, trying to improve as much as possible, so feel free to give me any advice or criticism. Otherwise I'm glad to hear that you guys like some of the photos. Barra - I know what you mean about HDR, everyone seems to be doing it these days, and there is a lot of overdone stuff (including stuff I've done). I've only recently just got my camera so I've only just got into doing the HDRs and having some fun with them. I really want to improve on standard photos instead of relying on HDR to make them standout.
  21. Yeah mate I know what you mean . At the time i was going for the reflections as I wanted to see how it came up after processing it as a HDR (went a bit overboard with the processing). I've been wanting to try a few of the car with the polariser to cut down the reflections to see how it would look, unfortunately car is off the road at the moment. Otherwise I might try give the layer mask a go, really need to improve my PS skills. thanks for the tip!
  22. Missed the last re customs, so I'm looking forward to this, unfortunately I'll be in the magna would have liked to dyno the gtr. Next time!
  23. Yeah the 19s are really for bling factor, no added performance. I think its my ride height that makes my 18s small and can't fill the gaps, anyway here is a nice example of R33 with 19s. I think he had to do a bit of modding to the inner guards to get them to fit though, 19x10.5!
