  1. Hey guys, I know there are probably already a few threads around regarding this topic, but I was hoping to get some advice from anyone in the V forums that may have colour coded the rims on their car. I had a small scrape on my front bar, so I decided to respray it myself. It came out very well for a spray can job, I might add. After giving my car a nice detail, I came to realise that the white paint is a really nice colour (I have always usually disliked white). My plan was to try to source a good set of OEM Rays 19's, but when I busted a seal on my Teins, my money went to fixing them up. So after forking out $800, my wallet is empty and my Mrs won't let me spend any more money on my car. Sigh... So now, I have decided to give it a go and respray my rims to match the car. The paint code is QX1-Ivory Pearl The car only has 17x7.5/17x8 OEM rims. There is a little bit of rash on one of them, I have a rim repair kit to fix it, and the rest are ok. The rims themselves are heavily covered (on the inside) with road/brake/oil etc stains. I have tried yelling at them, swearing at them, and even degreasing them, but I cant get them out. I have watched a few youtube videos of people painting their rims, and all they show is the painting, not the prep work. They funny thing is that they all say that prep work is the key to doing a good job! Is anyone who has painted their rims prepared to walk me through the process? Or even refer me to a surefire guide that they have used? Thanks in advance.
  2. Haha I have never come close to putting in 80l, so must keep a lot in reserve... though to be honest I have only had less than a quarter of a tank a few times...
  3. I may be biased, but why not a VQ35?
  4. I'll put it to you like this: Install an old Windows XP game on your computer. Your computer can read the disc, install the files etc. The icon will even show up on the desktop. You play the game- it will get to a point- you may watch the intro movie for example. But the game will not play, or it will crash early on. You are not using early generation Bluetooth software. Your phone is using Bluetooth drivers that may be incompatible with many older devices. The original iPhone came out in 08 and would not be expected to work on later model devices, and vice versa. Apple is very picky with compatibility too. Maybe test out an older phone, or try using a friends android or windows phone
  5. I presume you are using the factory stereo? My understanding is that newer iphones use a different version of Bluetooth and that the Skyline's stereo is not compatible. It may be able to pick up your phone, but is unable to effectively communicate with it. I seem to remember an importer telling me this when I was looking at V36 sedans.
  6. Just out of curiosity mate, but is it running an RB25 or RB26? Have you got any plans to give it extra oomph? I bought an R34 sedan a few years back, and it won out over the Stagea as I found they were a little lacking in the power department.
  7. Just out of curiosity mate, but what "porkies" do you mean? I got burnt buying a 2004 BA Falcon from a dealer a few years ago. A split in the radiator meant the trans flooded within a month or two of buying it. Due to the age of the car and km's, it is "not" subject to a statutory warranty (a car has to be less than 10 years old, and done less then 150k (?) kms to be subject to one.) I had to write a letter saying that "if I knew what was wrong with the car at the time of buying it, or how much extra it would have cost me, I would not have bought it in the first place". That is the only way to get out of any warranty. Also, that the issue was already wrong with the car at the time of purchase. When I mentioned legal action if my car wasn't refunded or repaired, he had no hesitation in repairing it. The repair bill came to over $3000, not including close to $1200 I spent servicing it and trying to clear the error codes... All warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. It looks like a fairly clean car though, so what seems to be the issue?
  8. Looks awesome, Especially with the V35 19's. If you ever feel you want to get rid of them...
  9. Just did a search and found these ones http://www.kudosmotorsports.com/catalog/kudos-motorsports-ancillary-belt-set-belts-dayco-genuine-nissan-power-enterprise-nissan-350z-z33-skyline-v35-350gt-vq35de-p-1299.html Would these be ok? Thanks in advance.
  10. Still hasn't duplicated the noise. Will check out the ancillary belts anyway, as it wont hurt to replace them.
  11. I am interested in this also, as I want to look at replacing mine soon as well. Does anyone know a place that sells them in Aus for a reasonable price, without opting for an Ebay special?
  12. Interesting... I took it for a drive an hour or so ago and it didn't do it. Hopefully it was just gremlins... I might get my phone ready when I go to work tomorrow and see if it does it again...
  13. Hi all, I had my V35 coupe parked on the side of the road today, and when I started it up to drive off, I was met by an extremely loud screeching noise when I turned the wheel to the right and started to drive. It seems to be coming from the front, drivers side wheel arch. After a 4-5 seconds, the squeal stopped. I drove forward for about 20m, then turned right onto another street when it squealed again- this time it was nowhere near as loud or long. I pulled back over and let the car idle for a minute, before taking off. It was only a 10 minute drive home, and it did not make the noise again. Does anyone know what this could be? A few google searches indicate the power steering may be the culprit. The power steering fluid is full to where it needs to be. The alignment seems to be fine. For the last few weeks, there has been a light clunk noise coming from the front right suspension (the car has tein coilovers), which I was going to get looked at after christmas. There don't seem to be any leaks from the car either. Usually when I reverse out of the drive, there is a slight buzz noise (presumably due to the EDFC) once I have started driving. I purchased the car from a specialist importer, and am the first owner of the car in Australia. The car has just ticked over 80k kms (I have dereg papers and import papers etc to confirm this). If anyone has any ideas, please let me know so I can contact the dealer with at least some knowledge of what the problem could be.
  14. I have Nismo floor mats, not sure if I prefer them over the originals... Unfortunately the Nismo ones were in the car when I bought it so I don't have the originals. Maybe try a wrecker?
  15. I wouldn't say OEM rims are worthless, the there are plenty of R33's with 34 rims, or 34's with V35/305z rims etc. I actually prefer the OEM look, I would only change my V35 rims to a bigger 18" or 19" style (or R35 GTR). Cant stand it when I see a nice car ruined with chromies, Bob Jane racing wheels or any other nonsense. But 1600 is a bit too much, considering I saw a set of R35 GTR rims with Tyres for $2k not too long ago.
  16. ^^^ Yeah, if you google G35 user manual, it is quite easy to find and download in a PDF. Though I must say, it is the most boring, useless user manual I have ever seen... Im pretty sure they have it for download on G35 driver as well.
  17. Just worked it out based on Sonicci's scientific calculations- 11.71 l/100km 03 5 speed auto stop start traffic and minimal aircon use Partial to the odd squirt here and there... The last refill would have likely been better as the last 2 weeks have been terrible for traffic...
  18. If he is, I call shotgun
  19. Mate, those Dinosaur pants are kick a$$
  20. Haha yeah, autocorrect changed "door" to for... I tried to edit it won't let me change the title! If any admin can fix this, please do so... Thanks for the advice scuttee, I'll check it out.
  21. Hey guys, I have done a quick search but could not find anything on the forum about this topic. The rubber stripping along the bottom of my passenger door is looking a little worse for wear an is frayed on the edge. Has anyone here had to replace/repair these before? Is this something any auto trimmer can do? Thanks in advance.
  22. Applied yesterday, awaiting confirmation...
  23. I Drove a V36 sedan, 350 GT, 5 speed auto. I was keen to buy, but the dealer could not supply the de-reg papers from Japan. Despite having a 235kw engine I did notice any major performance increase over the V35 coupes. I think it may be on account of it being heavier, and apparently they have less torque. It was a nice car, but there was a bit of lag from the paddleshifters when changing gears. I settled on a V35 coupe (we have a 7 seater Dualis for my wife/kids anyway) and don't regret a thing. Without a doubt, the best car I have ever owned.
  24. ^^^ ah ok I knew I had seen them without the powerduct, I did have a look at a few 300gt's a while back so this must have been it.
  25. I have seen them without it. I think its just one of those things where most people thought it made sense to upgrade them.
