  1. Turtle wax is awesome, pity you cant get inside the headlight to clear the condensation!
  2. Yeah mate, sorry to hijack your thread lol. Wasn't trying to go of topic. Hopefully its not your transmission crapping itself, maybe take it to an a/t specialist and run it past them. Is it changing gears smoothly? Tiptronic boxes come up pretty often on gumtree for cheap so if the box is screwed, hopefully it won't be to costly to fix...
  3. Thats actually what I was thinking- that it may be temp based. Hopefully its not an issue in the longterm and causing damage to the transmission! The transmission cover over the shifter looks like its been removed at some stage as its a bit worse for wear. Dont know if a transmission cooler has been put in though, I have also heard that a solanoid might be on its way out and causing the problem. This is, according to google, a pretty common problem in r34's but there doesn't seem to be much info about what is causing it and how to fix it... I have seen a few english translation user manuals on ebay, I wonder if there will be any useful info on tremah's probelm in there?
  4. I wouldnt say it does a big shud, you could be cruising and it will sit at 2200rpm @60kph in 3rd for a while, and then at some random point, usually after 2-3 mins, the revs drop back to 1600 and it shifts up into 4th. You cant manually shift up either. It will only do it once, after that it will shift into 4th normally for the rest of the drive. If i drive it again an hour or two later, the problem doesnt happen- its only if the car sits there a while. It started doing it occasionally but now it does it 9 out of 10 times in the morning when i drive to work or home again at night.
  5. My 34 tends to get stuck in 3rd, tiptronic auto. It wont shift into 4th until you hit 65-70kph or you have been cruising for a while. is this an issue and if so how do I fix it!
  6. Hey mate, not sure if this helps but I know with the stageas the 4wd only kicks in when the computer senses the need. Not sure if this is the same for the awd skylines but could be correct as they share a lot of similar parts.
  7. hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows if the factory nismo front-bar from an r34 coupe is compatible with the four door? Have heard a few people say it is, some say its not. Any input would be appreciated
  8. Cheers for the advice mate, boost isnt kicking in til about 3000rpm so your info about spool up time makes perfect sense. My boss told me the manifold studs may need replacing, his brother owns a performance shop in perth and said it can be a common problem with R34's. He also said its possible (but unlikely) there may be a crack in the manifold itself, fingeres crossed this isnt the case. With the head studs he said I might as well replace them anyway as if the gaskets are going, everything else may not be too far behind. Problem is that you dont know whats wrong until you take everything out so you kinda have to plan for the worst. If I supply the parts, I have been offered to have it done as a cash job at the workshop for around $200 as a cashy, does this sound like a reasonable amount? Are there any other problems I am likely to encounter?
  9. Hey guys, I have picked up an r34 gtt 4 door pretty cheap. Its a 4 speed auto, lowered with pod filter and 3" cat with 120k kms on the clock. There are a few thing I need to fix up on the car, just looking for a bit of advice. The cars throttle respose is a bit poor, one of the guys at work has had a look and inspected the car. It seems the exhaust manifold gasket needs replacing. Is this going to have much of an affect on the performance of the car? the boost still comes on but not as hard as I thought it would and it seems to be using a bit more fuel than it should. I had another person inspect the car who said the same thing was wrong. 1) Is it going to do any damage to the engine whilst driving it like this? 2) how much will getting it fixed improve the performance/economy? 3) I hear changing the manifold is a bit tricky as you have to take out a lot of the internals to get to it/ I have sourced a replacement for about $20 wholesale through coventreys, labor wise how much will it cost and how long will it take to fix? There also seems to be a clunking sound from the front tyre on the drivers side too when you turn the wheel at low speed. Any ideas what would be causing this, and is it a cause for concern? Pretty new to the scene, any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Hey everyone, I am looking to sell or trade my series 2 2007 mitsubishi 380 VRX for a skyline. I work in the CBD in Perth now and don't need to drive to work anymore, so I managed to convince my wife to let me buy a Skyline again It also helps that I work for Shannons insurance and get a nice discount too... Not too fussed it it's an R33gtst or R34gtt as long as it's auto. I will also consider a stagea. Obviously if it's an R33 I would be expecting a bit of work to be done to it, if not would accept the car plus some cold hard ca$h. I'm the second owner of the car, had it for nearly 2 years now and have only done about 8000kms since I've owned it. Car has just had 6mths rego paid and just has 75k logbook service. Car has FSH and is still under new car warranty until late 2012. The car has a minor graze across the rear passenger door where some douche scraped me in a carpark. They didn't leave any details either. I got it quoted around $500 to repair so I didn't bother to claim on my insurance as the excess was about the same anyway. If you have contacts in the industry you can probably get it repaired much cheaper. If you are interested in purchasing instead, the asking price is 15k ono Features: Alarm System/Anti Theft Remote Control, Anti Lock Braking, Automatic Air Conditioning/Climate Control, Central Locking Remote Control, Compact Disc Player With 6 Cd Stacker, Cruise Control, Dual Airbag Package, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Engine Immobiliser, Fog Lights, Leather Steering Wheel, Leather Upholstery, Power Front Seat Driver, Power Mirrors, Power Steering, Power Windows, six stack Compact Disc With 8 Speakers, Seat Belt Pre-Tensioner, Side Front Air Bags, Sport Seats, 17 Inch Alloy Wheels, factory sports suspension, rear spoiler, carbon fibre dash inserts, dash and floor mats.. 11. Haha cheers for the input guys. I would probably prefer a turbo over N/A so I'm kinda swinging the way of the R34 at the moment. Plus if I can pick one up cheap enough I might be able to do a few mods down the way... Just have to hide it form the missus...
  12. By GTR I'm assuming you mean an R32. Looking for something a bit more modern than an R32
  13. Hey guys, I'm looking at purchasing a Skyline. I used to own an R33 series 1 back in my late teens but had to sell it six or seven years ago when I got married. I'm in a situation at the moment where I won't be requiring my car to get to work anymore so want to sell my car and buy a new toy. My question is this: What should I buy? I cant make up my mind between an R34 GT-T or a V35 350 GT. I know I the best way to decide would be to test drive, but I'm just wondering what other peoples opinions are on the matter, especially in regards to performance, enhancement and road comfort. I'm looking to spend around 18k at the most. I have also considered a Supra as the twin turbo models 1994-1998 are quite affordable these days, but I prefer skylines ever since Gran Turismo back in 98 lol. Any opinions would be welcome. Thanks guys...
