  1. ATM i'm stocking up on parts for my engine build. Regarding cams, what is the low-down on lift? I'm getting the head ported, so i can go as much lift as i like. i've been told that you should go as much lift as you can. Is that true? padey
  2. Nur is basically that latest generation and possibly the best RB26 N1 engine. From Wiki Regarding price, i'm not sure. I bought a R34 Nur RB26 from Japan for several grand. It's sitting on a crate at my mates workshop. I might be persuaded to part company with it...
  3. Why can't all the tools drive WRX's, SS commy and base Lancers with EVO body kits (edit: And for the old farts like myself, Swift GTi's and Gemini's) like the good old days???
  4. 100% correct. I think there are too many day dreaming P-platers on here believing their own rhetoric.
  5. Hi Brad, I'll stick with my 2860-7's for now. They aren't big, but do the job for now. re the cams, i'm thinking more and more that i'll keep the head stock, do some oil control mods and leave it there. I've wasted enough money on cars for three lifetimes, and there is no need to waste more. padey
  6. Did you end up getting a Nur engine?
  7. I'm about to embark on this engine swap myself in the coming weeks. Is there anything else you guys would had looking back? padey
  8. 18th sounds alright.
  9. No, I've been getting a few pm's about this, so i'll debunk the myth that these engines are expensive. I searched yahoo for months for a Nur from a private buyer. Found one, asked a few questions through Zac at Slidewise and got a Jap mate to ask a few more. Everything came up apples, so bought it for $3200. Zac shipped it. Add a bit for Zacs work and freight. That's it Yeah mate, still on the road and running well. Some lowlife tried to break into it recently. The worst thing is it's got to be someone local, or someone local told someone... et al. Oil control FTW. The head is coming off for oil control, and it aint coming off again for a long, long time. So i thought i might get the head worked at the same time. Cool, i'll keep an eye out for it.
  10. My Nur motor finally arrived and is sitting on a crate in my garage. Heavy bastard. I'm thinking of leaving the bottom end and getting some headwork done. I haven't really investigated it, so thought i might air my thoughts here. I gather some port work would be good, a few oil control mods, and throw a HKS catalogue at it should do it? What have most you guys done? I'm not looking for a big turbo/high rev monster. Just a fat midrange, and tough-as-teeth donk for some track work would be very nice.
  11. ok, i think i still have the orig packaging. I'll let you know.
  12. no mate, doesn't come with piping, as i used the standard GTR piping.
  13. Item: Cooling-Pro Intercooler Upgrade - Skyline R32/R33 GTR 600 x 300 x 70mm Age: 6 months Condition:used Price: $200 and 1 case of Coronas To Fit: R32/33 GTR Location:Sydney Contact:PM Comments: Pickup only I bought it from Just Jap for $400 and used it in my GTR, but have had to put my car back to standard due to race class regulations. There are a few scratches on it, from when i put it in and removed it. Worked like a charm, dropping the inlet temps by 15-25 degrees depending on the ambient temperature. Would still have it in the car if i didn't have to revert it back to standard intercooler. Pickup only in Sydney.
  14. 1) There are no shortage of people/workshops doing good work on GTRs. They've been out for ages, and there is a well trodden path for any type of upgrade you can think of. There is nothing new under the sun when i comes to R32 GTRs. 2) It depends on who you talk to. If you talk to P-plater who borrowed to buy and can afford to maintain it, then they would say yes. But as you are buying a track/weekend car, then you expect to need to replace a whole list of 8year old parts. Compared to my previous track/weekend weapons the costs have been the same. I think there is a perception that these cars are expensive to fix/maintain, but i think that comes more from the kids/P-platers who buy them and can't afford to maintain them, yet want to flog the guts out of them. If your buying a car for the track, then you will need a bank of cash to support it. Same with any track car. With my last track car (rotary) i had to rebuild two engines. 3) I don't think there are any 'hard to fix' problems with the R32 GTR. For the track and age of the car you couldn't go wrong with doing the following; -Your suspension will be 9-7years old. Replace the lot, and piss off the HICAS. -Heat will be something to watch on the track. Fit an oil cooler + powersteering cooler and while you're at it, a larger radiator isn't going to break the bank. -Hi RPM and cornering added with the oil control issue with the RB26 will be something to think about. There are a few options here, some are cheap and others require the engine to come out. Do a search on oil control modifications. -I found i got some advantages out of a attesa controller. -Gearbox syncros in 3-4th will stuff up under the hammering. You've got a few options already outlined.
  15. I go to the one at Parramatta http://www.kravmagaclub.com.au/
  16. Having done boxing and some other forms of martial arts, i'd have to say the best i've done, and still do is Krav Maga. The weakness with those other forms of fighting is that they are bound by rules. Also there is no zen, enter the dragon bullshit in Krav Maga. Krav is raw, use what you've got, fight as dirty as you need to, hits to the balls, hammer punched to the back of the neck.... et al, to win and get out. Even if you never need to throw a punch in a threatened state, it's an awesome weekly cardio workout. see my sig for a better explanation of Krav Maga
  17. Because using an atmo bov affects emissions. Shooting N02 into the air doesn't affect the emissions of your car. Putting N02 into your engine affects emissions. edit: or what GeeTR said
  18. BTW it's not illegal to have a N02 purge kit on your car. You can drive around all day shooting N02 into the air. It's only illegal to have N02 connected to your engine.
  19. Take it easy uleh. The reality is you've tanked your cash if you're expecting a performance increase. But it's your cash, do what you want. BTW bro, mait is spelt mate.
  20. Who OH'd it? Transfercase redone? Where are you located?
  21. Close the petrol cap??
  22. Its a long engine from a contact in japan.
  23. $4k7 landed. It's what i was looking for. I'll add some oil control mods and some other stuff and i should have a reliable track car. padey
