  1. Have you changed your plugs lately? VuDuDoc?
  2. I don't know if anyone is still reading this thread... anyway, I have driven around with the new battery for a week. When I have the lights on and shit the bugger still stalls! But I just changed the plugs over and found that the gap on them is huge!! 1.1 mm stock my arse! put new plugs in and its running really well. Really happy with the way the the engine is running. Hasn't stalled on me yet! Next thing to change is the fuel filter...
  3. I don't know about yours, but I notice that as I come onto boost there is a high pitch whistle. It gets higher in pitch as the boost increases. I think that the gasket between the BOV and intake pipe is not sealing, going to try some gasket cement to seal that up. Then I know at least. You could hook up a pressure gauge to before the valve and see how well it holds the boost.
  4. I'm in no hurry, if this thread is still going then, you can buy it if you so desire!
  5. sorry that is meant to read a plumb back BOV, i reckon you shjould get a plumb back BOV or stick with the stock one...
  6. tightening of the valve can lead to compressor surge, which is bad new for your turbo especially series 1 R33 with their ceramic turbos!!! I reckon you should get a atm BOV. I had an atm BOV and the car stalled, now I have a plumb back and it still stalls.
  7. I don't know if it will fit a R32, its off a R33. If the BOV mountings are the same then yes. I will measure it up and post the measurements for you. I wouldn't say its really noisy, but I couldn't call it quiet, its a nice crisp noise...
  8. They retail for $265... you can see a picture at this web site... http://www.gtspec.com.au/Products/Turbosma...mart%20bovs.htm I'm in the essendon area and I'm looking for around $170 it comes with adaptor and plug which are usually extras..
  9. Does anyone want a turbosmart BOV?
  10. Put the new battery in... The car is much smoother when the lights, stereo and heater is on. It stalled once, but I think that was because the battery wasn't fully charged. Will give further update in a couple of days.
  11. I bought the battery today..... Need to change the cars battery terminals, the new battery is huge! Should fix my problem!
  12. By increasing the idle, you are increasing the speed at which the alternator rotates. This increases its output. Should also fix the problem if its an electrical problem. I want a bigger battery to also make the car easier to start and allow me to run more electrical gear.
  13. Thanks guys, I'll give one of these guys a buzz....
  14. Any of you guys know a good place to get an SAFC installed and tuned? Any info would be great.... Thanks in advance.
  15. Does anyone here want the BOV?
  16. BOV still for sale? Anyone interested?
  17. The way I reset the ECU is probably a bit of over kill... 1. disconnet battery 2. pump brake pedal 3. turn head lights on (or turn them to the on position) 4. leave car overnight... That should be more than enough to drain all electrical power from the car.
  18. I reset the ECU last night and this morning it almost stalled on the way to work.. I still think its the battery and or fuel filter! But I'll see what happens over the next week.
  19. I have changed the BOV and the car still stalls. I think its the fuel filter and battery I'm changing them next.
  20. Anyone interested?? PM me Its a V-Port type 3 with adaptor and plug... Prefer Melb only Looking for offers around $170
  21. My car has this problem as well, Here are my ideas on the subject.. I have noticed that my stalls only occur when I have my headlights and other electrical devices on or when I have little petrol in the tank. It rarely happens during the day. I then noticed that the battery in my car is rated at 280 CCA, which is miles to small for a Skyline. What I think happens is when you have your lights on and stereo going and come off the gas at 3000rpm. As the Revs drops so does the current coming out of the alternator, when you go below 850-1000 rpm your alternator can't supply enough current for the whole car. Then fuel pump doesn't get enought current and then you stall. I have also noticed that the car doesn't stall when I have a full tank of petrol. This is because of the fuel level in the tank, the more fuel the more downward pressure (due to the effect of gravity on the liquid) on the pump (or for the engineers in the audience NPSH). As the level drops this pressure reduces and makes it hard for the pump to work effectively. This combined with low current from the battery and a clogged fuel filter will make a car stall. I'm going to replace the battery with a 520 CCA model some time this week and replace the fuel filter thie weekend. Should sort it out. (Sorry about the long post peoples)
  22. what other bits and pieces do you have? any stock wheels?
  23. I'll give you $20 for the standard BOV + postage to Melb
  24. I'm interested too.... email me on [email protected] I'm in Melb too...
  25. Cheers blind_elk I think I'll try the easy way first, then if unsucessful move onto doing it the "old fashioned way"
